It's actually one of the reasons (I have 3 others) I decided to start learning to quilt.

I used to decorate my house in almost every room when my children were smaller. I would still do it even now if I could. Sadly, my body doesn't agree with my wish to do most things any longer. LOL

I got all my decorating ideas as a child from my own mother. She was a HUGE holiday/seasonal decorator. We used to go out to a friend's farm that let my Mom cut down as many corn stalks as she wanted. Then we would get the Indian Corn and make bundles from those and wrap the corn stalks around the light poles next to the driveway and hang the Indian Corn on the stalks. She always had pumpkins sitting on hay bales near the front entrance to our home. Her decorating started outside and continued inside the home in all the main rooms. All the knick knacks were put away and replaced with little Fall things like ceramic pumpkins, ghosts, and pretty vases and candles. The towels in the entire house were switched out to all Fall colored towels. She even had special dishes for each season for our dinner table. I carried much of her ideas into my home when I got older and had my own children and changed things with each season change too. My body just won't let me do all those things before. In fact, this time of the year and going into Winter I normally get a little sad that I just can't do it all anymore. But, this year I think we're going to do something since we do have one of our grandchildren living here and since she's only 2 yrs old, all this holiday/seasonal stuff is all new and exciting to her. I really want to instill the importance of the seasons and holidays in her just as my Mom did for me.
