Layers of Love Week #8 Winner
Congrats to Allison. You're the winner this week of a Layers of Love book. Thanks to everyone for their support and lovely comments on the APQ article and the Rustic Stars quilt. We've been deluged with phone calls this week from eager quilters ordering the kit. If you're interested, please call soon since we have a limited number of kits that are available with the original fabrics. We will continue to kit the quilt similarly, but the paisley border is in short supply.
Layers of Love Preview #9 - Chasing Eli
Eli is the youngest of our granchildren - until September when his Mom is due with a little brother to keep him even busier. There's no denying from the twinkle in his eye that he'll figure out a way to stay one step ahead of anyone who's trying to rein him in. The goose chase block seemed the perfect fit for our youngest little star.
Have you ever had trouble keeping the background rectangle square or losing the points on your flying geese blocks? My easy solution is to layer a triangle on top of a rectangle and stitch, as shown below. Using our layered patchwork technique, you'll be sewing rows of rectangles in perfect rows that just happen to have triangles on top - no cut off points! Even the star point units are made the same way.

This project first appeared several years ago in one of Primitive Quilts first issues.
I've had requests for the pattern since and loved the idea of adding
another colorway and a runner to the mix. |

With a birthday close to the 4th of July, I just had to make this in red, tan, blue! |
I hope you enjoyed this preview of Layers of Love. The book is now on our website as well as the Honeycomb Ruler for the hexagon projects in the book. We will have books in hand the first of next week and will begin shipping as soon as we can. Comment for just one more chance to win a Layers of Love book.
Watch for my tutorials with Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co coming soon featuring several of the projects from the book.
