More From Clara's Garden

KT Winner

Congrats to Allison! You're the winner of last weeks blog giveaway.
  1. My favorite flowers in my garden are the coneflowers. I have over a dozen different kinds and they are all beautiful in their own unique ways. I love the lap quilt! Clara must have been an amazing woman.

Clara's Garden

If you prefer piecing over applique, this is the project for you. All the blocks are simply 9-patches layered with our wedges cut from a Jelly Roll. This time, we placed them randomly for a scrappier, less planned look. What a great quilt for a wedding or anniversary - rings without the stress! Project included in Clara's Garden booklet (retail $10.95). I also created a wedge template for easier cutting (KT Wedge Template $7.95).

Clara's Raised Bed Garden 72" x 82"

Here's the perfect little table topper using just one of the Clara's Garden blocks. A single 9-patch plus 8 of the layered wedges in the same print make this circular project easy to whip up in just about 3 hours!

Somehow this didn't post last week as expected. I admit I was laying on the beach in Florida while typing, but it looked like it had posted. Sorry I can't send a bit of warm sunshine to each of you. Instead, if you comment here, I'll share a Clara's Garden booklet with the projects above plus last week's and a Jelly Roll to get you started.

I'll be home thru the holidays so watch for more Clara's Garden inspiration next week and our annual 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway in December. So much fun stuff to win!

Introducing.....Clara's Garden

Clara's Garden Debuts at Houston Quilt Market

Over the next few blog posts, I'll be showcasing my newest fabric collection, Clara's Garden. I've recently done some research on our family tree and discovered that Clara was my great, great-grandmother who came to homestead the land across from where we now live. She was widowed on the way to Kansas with 5 small children, but continued onto their planned destination and purchased a good sized parcel of land with her husband's life insurance money. Over the years, her crops were successful and she bought more land. My Dad's farm, my Aunt & Uncle's home/farm and the cabin by the pond where Robert and I live are all on land acquired by this industrious, strong-willed  woman. I remember stories from my Gramma Ethel about Clara's amazing green thumb and the recipes for canning passed down to her. I wish I had known her. Instead, I created a quilt to honor her fortituede and gardening skills, marrying raw-edge applique flowers and my layered patchwork technique in a lap quilt worthy of Clara's heritage

Our signature florals, geometrics and small prints create the classic KT look for warm, inviting quilts for your bed and home decor. Clara's Garden booklet (retail $10.95) offers 5 projects featuring our no-curved-piecing method with layered patchwork. Here's a sampling:

Clara's Garden lap quilt 72" x 72"
Simple 9-patch blocks and fused raw-edge appliques flower blocks are alternated then layered with a wedge cut from a Jelly Roll with our KT Wedge Template. The wedges are layered and stitched on all four sides of each block to create the circular effect with no curved piecing.
Fresh-Picked Runner

Congrats to this week's winner:
I don't know if she's my favorite, but I sure do like photos of the fabric by Brenda Riddle that I saw online from Quilt Market. I don't usually sew in those soft colors, but they are very appealing.

I agree! Love Brenda's new line with Moda. And so enjoyed meeting and visiting with her at market. What a delightful lady. Please email us at lynne@ktquilts.com to claim your prize!
