KT March Special

We're not out of the cold yet here in Kansas, but I can see spring just around the corner. I intended to make a couple flannel quilts over the winter, but somehow didn't find the time. So, I'm starting now.  Are you with me? Let's get a head start on warm and cuddly quilts for cool spring evenings, easy throws for picnics at the lake, or something soft & cuddly to curl up by the fire this fall.

Our KT March Special will help you on your way to making snuggly flannel quilts for everyone on your list. We're offering all of our flannel fabric and kits 20% off plus Free Shipping throughout the month of March. Here's a look at some of the fun quilts you can start on today for cozy nights to come.

Flannel Days, Starry Nights features large, easy blocks for lap size quilts that are sure to please. There are five colorways available for spring, summer, fall, winter & Christmas - limited quantities of each. Joy and I experimented with batting choices for a variety of coziness. The red, tan blue Summer Evening quilt was quilted with only a flannel backing for a two-layer lightweight, but cozy throw perfect for summer evenings on the porch. For the spring green, purple, tan quilt, Spring Morning, she used flannel as batting for three cuddly layers of softness. In the remaining quilts - Autumn Days, Christmas Eve, and Winter Nights - she used thin or medium-weight cotton batting for different levels of warmth. Choose your star, choose your batting option for the season.

The Country Road flannel fabrics are 20% as well, offering unlimited possibilities for cuddly quilts. Choose a pattern, choose your flannels. Here's the link to the Country Road swatch chart for your convenience. Print it off, make your selections, and order today! Country Road Fabric HERE

I would recommend my Country Road booklet with two quilts, each in two sizes for lots of options. Both feature simple piecing either in staggered strips for Rambling Road, or stars & checkerboards for Crossroads. We have a few kits left with a Country Road Layer Cake, but they're easily cut from fat 1/8's, as well.

Be sure to call the store if you have any questions. Robert and Joy are always happy to help. If the kit is out-of-stock on our website before you can grab one, Joy might be able to make you a kit (she's like that :).

Another great option for flannel quilts is my Windmills & Fence Posts quilts. This booklet offers easy strip piecing with a twist for simple quilts with lots of charm. It's on my list!

Oh, by the way, Robert & I are taking a little break, so orders will be shipped the week of March 8th. Thanks for your understanding.

Prairie Days Sampler Quilt-a-Long

My new Prairie Dreams fabric collection is due to arrive in late March. I have several fun projects featuring precuts from this line. Watch for more information over the coming weeks.

Today, I'm extending an official invitation to you to quilt-a-long with me to make the Prairie Days Sampler and 6 mini quilts. We'll begin with Red Dawn and piece our way through a Prairie Day with Morning Dew, Day Dreamin', Afternoon Delight, Evening Shadows and Midnight Flight. At the end of 6 months, you'll have completed 6 mini quilts and a lap quilt! I pieced each mini in a weekend and quilted them myself with simple lines. Very doable. Aren't they adorable?

Beginning in mid-April, we'll send the fabrics you'll need to make one of the mini projects PLUS the coordinating blocks for the quilt. For example, Month #1 is all about the red & tan Red Dawn Stars mini quilt and the matching rows for the sampler quilt. I'll host a Facebook Live each month (TBD) to talk about techniques for piecing the different blocks with tips I learned piecing them. I'm happy to answer your questions along the way. This was one of the most fun and satisfying projects I've done in a while. I loved having a completed mini quilt or pillow as I was making blocks for the sampler quilt. It seemed to go together quickly and easily using tried and true piecing methods.

The Prairie Days Quilt-a-Long Kit is $64.98/month for 6 months. You'll receive:

Month #1 - Prairie Days booklet + a large spool of tan Aurifil thread for piecing.

Each of (6) months you'll receive:

* Precut Layer Cake squares plus yardage for the mini quilt AND the matching section/row of the sampler quilt.

* Coordinating backing for the mini quilt.

* Aurifil 50wt. thread to match the mini quilt for quilting.

* Free shipping (plus a little surprise).

You'll have everything you need to complete the mini quilt each month. It's the perfect combination of instant gratification while piecing a sampler quilt. Win, win!

We've preordered Layer Cakes and fabric for the quilt-a-long, but supplies are limited. Call the KT Quilt Shop and sign up today. 785-488-2120.

Kit To Quilt Mystery Series

Do you like a good mystery? If you like Kansas Troubles fabric and patterns, you'll love our Kit To Quilt series. Every other month, I'll send a special project, just for this club, that features the newest and favorite KT fabrics. The mystery part? No one knows what the project will be! But trust me, you'll love it!

For only $30 every other month (+$5 shipping), you'll receive a package in your mailbox with a kit valued at $40-$50. Kits include all fabrics for the quilt top/binding and pattern. It might be a cute charm quilt, a seasonal runner, a sweet Honey Bun project, or a comfy pillow for your home. Sometimes, we'll include backing or thread or bonus patterns or a KT template. You never know what you'll get, but it's better than a box of chocolates!

Here's the latest Kit To Quilt Mystery project for February, Thread Love. It's my humble homage to my favorite Aurifil 50 wt. thread. I've designed spool projects in the past, but this one goes together so quickly with large 5" spool blocks. As a bonus, you'll receive everything you need to make both the 26" square quilt AND the 18" pillow cover. It's the perfect pair for your sewing room to show the world you're a thread lover, too.

Are you ready to join the club and receive your mystery package for only $30? Call the store to sign up today for Thread Love. 785-488-2120.

Most of the previous Kit to Quilt kits are available at the KT Quilt Shop and online at ktquilts.com the month after our club members receive them for $40 each. Here are a few of our previous Kit To Quilt projects.

KT & Friends Retreat, Appleton, WI

I'm SO ready to get together with my fellow Moda designers and quilters from all across the country for another great KT & Friends Retreat. Want to join us?

In August, we'll be taking our KT & Friends Retreat on the road to Appleton, WI. On Tuesday, August 10 at noon through Friday, August 13 at noon, you'll have the opportunity to learn from some of the best, most entertaining teachers in quilting - Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings, Barb Groves of Me & My Sister Designs, and me!

We'll each teach a workshop with a lap quilt (think Layer Cake or Jelly Roll project), a small Make & Take project, a pre-dinner trunk show, and much more! Each instructor will provide the kits for your workshops including fabric, pattern and a spool of Aurifil thread. Here's a sneak peek at my retreat project, Prairie Stars (68"square lap quilt). We'll use my new Prairie Dreams fabric collection and precuts for these sparkling stars. I'll offer tips for stitching perfect connecting corners with traditional piecing, AND share my Layered Patchwork technique for quick & easy blocks. You choose your preferred method for piecing.

A supply list of basic sewing supplies needed - rotary cutter, scissors, etc -  will be available about a month before the retreat.

Lisa and Barb's projects will be revealed in the coming weeks. No doubt, they'll be true to their unique styles, offering a good variety of projects overall. As a bonus, we'll be in Lisa's backyard, so to speak, just 20 minutes from her brand new Primitive Gatherings store (opening this summer). You'll have time to visit and shop her new store. I can't wait to see it!

Our retreat will be held at the Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley in Appleton. You'll stay in the same hotel where you sew, perfect for late night stitching sessions, if you desire. We'll provide lunch on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. There are lots of fun eating options within walking distance for evening meals.

The fee for our retreat is $795. That includes 6 workshops, 6 kits, 3 trunk shows, 3 lunches and lots of goodies along the way. Call the KT Quilt Shop and ask for Robert to sign up at 785-488-2120. Space for new signups is limited since over half of our quilters from the cancelled 2020 retreat opted to roll over their deposit to this year.

Join our KT & Friends Retreat Facebook group for more information and to see comments from quilters from past retreats. We hope you'll join us for one of 2021 KT & Friends Retreats!
