My Prairie Life

Prairie Life - Kansas Troubles + Martingale

I'm delighted to announce my 2nd book in collaboration with Martingale. Our home in the country is the backdrop for the delightful pictures choreographed by Jennifer Keltner, Chief Visionary Officer at Martingale. She gathered my old stuff together in new and beautiful vignettes that make me appreciate my collections of "good junk" all over again.

Prairie Life is compilation of a more than dozen projects inspired by my life in the country. I created a collection of simple quilts, table runners and pillows to decorate my home throughout the year and wanted to share them with you. Many of the projects are offered in my unique Layered Patchwork technique, as well as traditional piecing. Here's a peek at a few of my favorites...

Building Blocks
Framed charm squares are the beginning of a scrappy lap quilt , mini quilt and pincushion project.

Double the Fun
Double up 4-patches in a 9-patch block for a quilt with a plan. Add the matching pillow sleeve and mini quilt for a coordinated decorating scheme for your home.

Sweet Melons
Our KT Melon Template and raw edge fused applique are a quick start to a fun mini quilt for any season. A charm pack provides scrappy goodness.

Prairie Life is due to arrive any day. Comment for a chance to win an autographed copy.

Moda Blockheads II Finale

Block #52 - Scrappy Checkerboard by Corey Yoder

Corey brings us the final block of the Blockheads II series. Simple 4-patches within a 9-patch are fun and easy. The perfect end to 52 weeks of blocks. I chose a color placement similar to the pattern using my red, tan and blues from a new line, Milestones, showing at Spring Market.
Find Corey's instructions HERE.

I've been working on a layout for my blocks (if I ever get them pieced) and have settled on using a neutral tan sashing between some of the blocks for separation. I love how the red/tan/blue of the different fabric lines is all coming together but I felt like it needed some breathing room between some of the busier blocks. This quilt is so fun with all the assorted block sizes this time around. I still have a few to add - and will probably rearrange a dozen times, but I'm loving this scrappy project.

I hope you all have enjoyed Blockheads II. It's been a blast!

If you love a block-of the month like I do, be sure to stay tuned for the reveal of my 20th anniversary quilt later this month. I'm celebrating 20 years of designing fabric with Moda and wanted to do it up right. Twenty blocks over 10 months with 2 months to finish. Plan to piece along with me in 2020!

Be sure to see what the other designers are up to this week. I'm sure alot of them actually have a quilt finished to show you!

Moda Blockheads II

Block #51 - Power Star by Lisa Bongean

Tiny stars in a row sparkle and shine in Lisa's classic style. I've enjoyed challenging myself to working with smaller pieces and totally love the result. It's worth the effort. Try Lisa's Power Star with instructions on her blog HERE.

Only one more block before we're done!
