Hot in Kansas

KT Winner

Congratulations to jwilli - you're the winner of this week's bundle of KT binding scraps. Please send your mailing address to lynne@ktquilts.com and Jamie will mail them right out. Thanks to everyone for commenting. I truly enjoy reading all of your thoughts (and poems!).

Hot, Hot, Hot

You've heard of Hot in Cleveland? Well, I'm not hot like Betty White, but the heat here this week is making my skin melt. Normal temps for Kansas in June are mid-80's to maybe an occasional 90 degree day. Still plenty cool in the mornings and evenings to work in the garden or take a walk. This week, it's registering upper 90's to 100 on the thermometer with temps feeling like 110. Crazy! Good for the farmers harvesting wheat, but miserable for the rest of us. Great reason to stay inside and quilt! I'm hoping to check a few things off my summer to-do list this week while chillin' in the A/C.

Traveling Up North

Robert and I traveled to Naperville, IL and Oshkosh, WI last week to hang out with some amazingly talented ladies from their guilds. I shared my Layered Patchwork technique with a workshop on 30-Something at both locations with fabulous results. I think I've made a few converts to the frayed side!

A few great looking blocks!

Quilters from Naperville, IL

Quilters from Oshkosh, WI
Most of the quilters finished a few blocks during class and are comfortably on their way to recreating this lovely lap size quilt, 30-Something, from KT's book,  Layers of Love.

Along with a bag of scraps to get you inspired, we're throwing in a Layers of Love book this week for fun. Comment here about your summer quilting to-do list to win. And check out Carrie Nelson's blog at Moda Fabrics for a chuckle. See you next week!

Christmas All Year Through

Kansas RowXRow Experience

Are you following the trail this summer? KT Quilt Shop is one of hundreds of shops across the country that are offering patterns/kits for a row that can be put together for wonderfully creative quilts. The theme for Kansas shops is water, so our row features windmills. Our windmills are a variation on a layered patchwork block I've used before  and loved how it twinkles and twirls. By making 2 blocks going opposite directions, it adds even more movement to the row. Stop by Kansas Troubles Quilt Shop in Bennington, Kansas when you're out and about to check out our row and see all of the KT fabrics, books & patterns and quilts on display.
Open T-F 10-5; Sat 10-3. Closed July 4th. Call 785-488-2120 during business hours to make arrangements for someone to be there after hours if you're traveling our way.
