Hello ladies.
I came home from market, eager to catch up on my blog posts. I awoke the next morning to a loud pop and the smell of smoke. I stumbled into my studio to find that a major power outage fried my backup battery/surge protector. I took the smoking box out on the porch and came to town to post and found that electricity is out in most of the county! I called Lois to tell her to stay home and found some filing to do by a window. Isn't it funny how you still go around flipping switches without thinking even when you know there isn't any power? Well most of my pictures are on the cabin computer, so I've been waiting to get back up and running there- no luck so far. So here I am, making the best of it on Robert's computer. Gosh, don't you hate using someone else's computer? Are we spoiled or what?
Anyway, we're announcing Charming Thursday's offering today - the Season's charm pack. My thought at the time was to do a book with projects for every season. My favorite is a simple log cabin quilt with changeable wool appliques.

The book is now out of print, but this is another project I hope to make into a single pattern - someday. Comment on your favorite season by Sunday night to win the Seasons Charm Pack. I'll be back on track again next week for another installment of Charming Thursday. Thanks for hanging in there.
Lynne
PS - It's still raining with flash flood warnings for our area. If the pond rises much more, my porch will be right by the water!
Hope your weather improves. We really need rain in Georgia but Mother Nature seems to want to dump it all on the midwest. My favorite season is fall, because it means the long, hot southern summer is over! And I've always loved fall colors.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree about using someone else computer...seems like all the letters are in the same hunt and peck place but it's irritating! hang in there!
ReplyDeleteI am really spoiled by my own computer, so I know what you mean.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is fall. I love all the brilliant colors and crisp cool mornings. I even enjoy the smell of wood burning fireplaces, even though they are becoming increasingly rare in my neck of the woods.
Hope your weather improves quickly and you don't get any flooding.
I can think of something I love about every season, but if forced to choose, I will say that I look forward to my Southern Calfornia summers by the sea. I love the heat - with a cool ocean breeze wafting through just when you need it.
ReplyDeleteStay dry!!

Lynn, my favourite season is Summer and your wall hanging would go onto my todo list if the pattern became available. Would you consider adding a Canadian flag to the appliques?
ReplyDeleteChristine from Ontario
I love the Fall. Colors and temps are great. I love the log cabin design - one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is fall. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteFall has long been my favorite--not only the colors and golden aura and cooler temps, but also the fact that by then I am burned out on yardwork and ready to settle down inside to more stitching projects. My little corner of the world has been inundated by moisture this spring, which means the mountains have record depths of snow waiting to join the already swollen rivers. We have been under flood warning for weeks and it will continue for several more. I feel your pain, but I don't have water waiting to flood my front porch!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is spring when the azaleas and dogwoods are blooming in south Georgia and the weather is nice.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are ready for this rainy season to be over! Technology is great, but boy when you have issues there is nothing worse! Hope all gets back to normal for you soon!
ReplyDeleteSorry about your power loss. I hope it is restored soon. Here is Illinois we are finally getting some sun after so much rain. I just don't want it to turn muggy though. Which leads to my favorite season--Autumn! I love when the hot and humid season goes away!
ReplyDeleteI love spring, everything is new and fresh air.
ReplyDeleteLong walks before it gets hot and no crowds.
For quilting, I would say fall, I love the colors and creating for fall.
Debbie
Spring is my favorite time of year. I love to see everything new and blooming. The weather is refreshing and the days are a little longer. I hope your power will soon be back up and running! Thanks for the great giveaway :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time of year is fall/autumn ... it seems to be a cozy time, return to school/routine time, when the leaves start to fall and the air has a crisp bite to it, right before the holiday "season" begins and football returns. Yes, Fall is my favorite time of year. Right now, I think we're experience about every season in a day here in Montana. Weather can't make up it's mind. We even had snowflakes on Monday. Blah :) Best wishes to you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is spring. Every thing is new and bright. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is fall.....I love the colors and the cool after a hot summer in Texas. Thanks for the offering of the charm pack.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is always the summer, I love the sun and the warmth and I hate the cold. It's been really hot today and now the thunderstorms are arriving, but I am not complaining, we desperately need some rain.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season would have to be Fall. I love the cooler weather & the changing leaves are simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBecky
Autumn is my favorite season...the falling leaves, the colors, the harvest of food, the cooling air, and school beginning again.
ReplyDeleteSpring is pretty, but the weather is fickle. My favorite is fall...it's the cool breath of fresh air after a long hot summer!
ReplyDeleteFall for me, love the end of heat and humidity.
ReplyDeleteLove the Seasons Change pattern.
Fall is my favorite season. My birthday is then and the coming fall meant back to school time (new beginnings), the colors, scents, and weather were always the best! Now, I of course think of harvest (being married to a farmer for 35 years). We are so fortunate to live in this part of the country where we can enjoy all four seasons. Thanks for the chance at Season's Charm Pack. HUGS... and stitches
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, my favorite season is winter! Where I live, road construction goes on ALL summer long, and I hate having to deal with it - plus the heat just kills me. Spring brings an onslaught of terrible allergies. Fall is okay, but I really, really love winter and snow and cold!
ReplyDeleteToo bad you cannot share some of that rain with those of us who live so close, but it just seems to keep missing us. I love living in an area that has all 4 distinct seasons although spring is best.
ReplyDeleteNadine Griffin
I love autumn, but spring is a close second. :-) So glad you had a surge protector in your studio!
ReplyDeleteI love Spring, all that renewal and new growth after the cold and wet winter, so good to get out..

I love spring when the earth is coming alive again. Cute pattern
ReplyDeleteYou had a close call with that power backup thing.
ReplyDeleteI think your rain is headed this way (Illinois) tonight.
FALL!! I LOVE fall, the beautiful leaves, crisp air, Halloween, Thanksgiving. What's not to LOVE about fall?!! LOL Sorry about your smoke/electricity problems.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to choose between spring and fall but I think I will go with spring. It's so nice to see all the trees and bushes blossoming and the flowers begin to bloom after a long winter. Love the freshness and beauty of the greens in the country before the weeds take over in the roadside ditches. Thanks for all the giveaways.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is Fall, birthday time, though Spring and Summer are wonderful too.
ReplyDeleteHope that the problems you encountered with power are overcome successfully. Know that it can be aggravating and sometimes distressing to experience damage like you described.
My favorite season is fall. Though I do love 4th of July designs. :-)
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Autumn would have to be just the most beautiful time of the year, cold mornings bring dew that seems to sparkle more as the leaves change color, fall from the trees & let more sun into the garden. The crunch of leaves under foot as you rake them into piles ...... then wind seems to come from no where and you have to rake them again. Night seems to fall quiclky, a chill sets in the air. Mmmmm all thats left is to sit & sew !
ReplyDeleteWe had 2 inches this morning in our part of Kansas. We really needed it. I think spring is my favorite season. I love all the flowers coming to life. Thanks for the give a way.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely hate having to use someone else's computer. (And definitely spoiled!)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite season is autumn, by far. Spring comes in close second, though. I'd like spring better if it didn't turn into hot, humid, sticky summer. (Oh well. Such is life.)
Thanks for the chance to win!
Wow! Hope that the Power is back on in your area. Great wall-hanging! Fun project! My favorite season is Fall. It used to be Spring, but since we now live in Georgia where Fall is gorgeous, it has become my favorite. Take care!
ReplyDeleteSince I live in Wisconsin, summer is absolutely my favorite season. It is so short, we have to savor every beautiful day. Plus I love all the flowers and vegetables we are able to grow.
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite season.
ReplyDeleteOur river flooding has subsided now; it's been a week since the water went down. Hubby will not be planting those flats anytime soon..he'll certainly get stuck! Hope the weather turns and dries up your area...and you don't get any damage from the water.
es Lynne, I agree, using someone else s computer is awkward, just doesn't feel quite right. I hope the power wasn't out for too much longer and that things are back to normal and we will keep the midwest in our prayers as the flooding has been relentless this spring. My favorite season is fall, the crisp air, the brilliant colors and pumpkins! Just love it. Hope your week goes well and all is safe and sound, take care, Mary V

Fall is my favorite time of the year. Love deplaying my KT quilts. They look great in the Fall .... well anytime of the year, but especially Fall.
ReplyDeleteWe have been way too much rain here. More is expected tonight and next week.
My favorite season is Spring! Just got home from the nursery, my truck is full of flowers ready to be potted or put in the ground. I love the seasonal wallhanging, cool idea!! Hoping your power troubles end quickly and that you don't have to build an ark!
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I love the fall months. They are so refreshing after the hot winter months and the holidays are just around the corner!
ReplyDeleteOops! I meant to say that fall is so refreshing after the hot SUMMER months!
ReplyDeleteMy season is late summer/early fall.
ReplyDeleteLate summer brings county fairs and the The Great Get Together Minnesota State Fair. Nothing like it. Then we get into school starting and sometimes by first of Oct Indian Summer. THen it is the pumpkin patches and fun things at the pumpkin garden for the grandchildren like petting zoos, pumpkin tosses
caramel apples, pumpkin seeds, and the grandchildren in their costumes. Nothing better then that, Grandchildren I mean..
Wow, a pop and smoking surge/backup unit is pretty scary! Good thing you had it though. We have had rain in May in SoCalif, highly unusual, even the little bit the storms left was record setting!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea of changeable appliques, what fun. Fall is my favorite season to decorate for, so I have more fall quilts than anything else, along with several boxes of other decor!
Fall would be my favorite season, but really I just enjoy the change in seasons! Would definitely purchase the pattern as a single. I thought owning waterfront property was a sign of prosperity. Just trying to put a positive spin on your "troubles." Take care...
ReplyDeleteI would have to say winter is my favorite season. I love how everything looks so clean after it snows. Hope things get better there. It seems like weather has been so severe everywhere this year.
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite time. It seems like the start of something new is coming - like when school would start for a new year. I decorate for fall and Halloween even more than the Christmas holiday.
ReplyDeleteLove the summer woolies as all the really important dates in my life seem to have happened during this time. The others are nice too however. Hope you can keep you head above water, so to speak.
ReplyDeleteI love the fall, and I love that pattern, plus a chance to win a charms pack!!! Good luck with your water situation.
ReplyDeleteBev E
Have to go with the Fall; especially when it comes to designs. Send some of your rain our way.....SW Kansas!....Janet
ReplyDeleteI'm partial to almost every season for one reason or another. I think that a changing season project would be fun, something that could hang up all year long.
ReplyDeleteI love Fall! It's the season that my husband and I usually take our yearly RV trip because the temps are wonderful and the campgrounds and places to visit aren't as crowded. The leaves are beautiful in the fall and you can have a nice campfire at night. We can also enjoy our kayaks. Spring is pretty but I'm highly allergic to it! I do love winter because of Christmas and I love snow! Summer is to hot and humid for me!! So, my favorite is Fall, it's definitely Fall!
ReplyDeleteHope your power is back on and the waters don't rise. Hang in there!
LOVE SPRING!
ReplyDeleteGREENS+PINKS+WHITES!
THANKS FOR THIS SWEET GIVEAWAY!
jldouglas@wispwest.net
LOVE the Log Cabin pattern ~ it's one of my favorites!
ReplyDeleteLate spring(AFTER allergy season)lol~ is my favorite season, esp. after a long hard winter, when everything comes back to life and turns beautiful again!
Thanks!
Tanya
I love the fall, it is starting to cool after being so hot. I love the crisp morning, the smell of the leaves and best of all, the wonderful fall colors!
ReplyDeleteLove fall colors. Also, enjoy every season. Change is good.
ReplyDeleteHope your situation has gotten better - seems like when it rains it truly does pour. Summer is not hardly here yet and I am already looking forward to fall - Lana
ReplyDeleteSpring is my favorite time of year... Like God is waking up the world! Enjoy the rest of your spring... and stay dry!
