Happy 4th of July!
Number two was finishing the chalk board in my studio. Once upon a time, my studio space was part of the original screened-in porch that spanned the whole front of the cabin. We loved spending time out there, but often had to clean the dust & dirt from the south 40 off the furniture before we could enjoy it. After enclosing half of it for my studio for year round use, we installed a window for air circulation opening onto the remaining porch. Weeeelllll.... after finally knocking out a wall and enclosing the other part of the porch as part of the house last year, I had an odd hole in my wall from an unneeded window. I decided to make the best of it and add a chalkboard/inspiration wall. Dad dug around and found a large metal display piece that fit perfectly. A
Number three on the list was changing out the decor upstairs in the retreat space from spring bunnies and flowers to all things red, white & blue. Here are a couple of pictures celebrating summer.
Since it's my birthday today, I have a lunch date so I'll make this short. Here's wishing all of you a happy summer of stitching. I hope to work on a patriotic quilt just for me. What are your quilting plans for the summer?
Comment here to win a six pack of red/tan/navy fat quarters for your summer holiday sewing. See you next week!
Happy birthday! Mine was Sunday.
ReplyDeleteMy sewing plans for summer are to get two BOMs I started last year to the "flimsy top" stage. I just have to do the December block, cut the setting pieces and sew them together, so there isn't much left to do on them. I hate when I get sidetracked away from a project like I did with these!

Happy birthday Lynn! Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday toyou, Lynn! I always wished my birthday would be in summer instead of winter and it's really ridicilous that everyone in my family (mom, dad and my brother and even my cats!) has her/his birthday in summer just not me, lol!
ReplyDeleteDon't have a lot of quilting plans for the summer but I hope you get at least one quit from my UFO pile done and make at least one x-mas gift now (and not one day before I have to give it away;-)
Enjoy your lunch date!
Happy Birthday, Lynne! Hope you have a great relaxing loved filled day! I love to read your blog and I love your fabric ... have many projects planned for the summer. And actually I'm using my husband's email account until I get around to doing my own!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on your birthday. My cousin's birthday is July 4th and as a kid I was jealous of him because he got fireworks and cookouts on his birthday and I didn't on my January 25th birthdate.
ReplyDeleteMy plan for summer sewing is 2 more Quilts of Valor for two very special service men. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I'm a July birthday, too. When I was growing up my family and I would often be on vacation for my birthday. Lots of memories of birthdays in different places. My summer quilting plans are to get some of my UFOs done! That's a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
ReplyDeleteI plan to do some table toppers for Christmas gifts this summer.Like the ones you've pictured in this post! Thanks for sharing! msstitcher1214@gmail.com
A very Happy Birthday to you! This summer I am planning to complete a blue and white triple Irish chain for my Irish-named son Sean, and also I am planning to make a couple of table runners with a Kansas Troubles jelly roll I have been saving.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lynne!
ReplyDeleteFirst on my list is a fabric checkerboard and those fat quarters would be perfect !
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful birthday! My summer plans are to finish three quilts that I have started!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. I enjoyed seeing all the pretty red, white and blue decor items.
ReplyDeleteI have been working on some projects in red, creams and blue. I keep thinking this patriotic phase will pass but it may be here to stay! Happy Birthday to you.
ReplyDeleteHow you do all that you do is amazing!! Hope that you make some me time for yourself. Stop and smell the fabric!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I am determined this summer to do holiday sewing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! We spent most of our time at home, working on the yard too. I need to organize my sewing room and clean up my mess, then I want to work on some new quilts for the bedrooms and some as gifts.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
Happy Birthday! I'm 5 days older than you (okay, a few years and five days older). Hope you have a wonderful day. Love the pieced border on the star table topper.
ReplyDeleteI plan to keep plugging away at getting some UFOs done. I have many and they are in various stages of completion.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! My first grandbaby was born three days ago, so I think I will be doing some baby sewing this summer :-)
ReplyDeleteMany blessings to you and your family with your new addition. Sew fun!
DeleteRight now I am hand quilting a new scrappy quilt for my bed but that may soon take a back seat to a baby quilt when we find out if it will be pink or blue. I have so many things I want to work on, but so little time! Thank you for a chance to win and Happy Birthday! ! !
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I sure don't deserve to win any of your beautiful fabric and I'll tell you why. I came across you in my early years of quilting, when I knew nothing about fabric manufactures and certainly not designers. So I picked out a Mariners compass pattern maybe 10 years ago and went to a fabric store and picked out fabric in red, navy and light tan. After I was home, I noticed Kansas on one of the selvages and wouldn't you know it, all of my fabrics said Kansas Troubles. I now live in Canada, but I thought that was neat because my mom is from central Kansas. I looked up your town on a map and I've followed you ever since!! I have a huge hoard of Kansas Troubles in my fabric cabinet and I hate to cut into them ever! I choose to hoard them, I guess. And about that first KT fabric, its still fully in tact and I should maybe get at it! Thanks for this chance and enjoy your summer!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished my rows for my row by row quilt. Now to put the rows together, quilt and bind it. Guess what? My LQS is offering 25 Kansas Troubles fat quarters for the prize. Here's hoping I win!!
ReplyDeleteI'm concentrating on finishing at least one of the seven projects I've on the go!
ReplyDeleteWe are now in our winter, which means some lovely stitching time by the fire. I have a few quilts to put together as well, one being my `Row by Row quilt. In our part of New Zealand it gets quite frosty over night but no snow only a sunny day or rainy weather. Happy Stitching.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!! I would love to be entered in the draw as my winter bed quilt made of Kansas troubles fabrics is starting to look very shabby now and needs some repair work. So I really need a new quilt and could make very good use of some fat quarters, and I will be celebrating my birthday next week..

ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Lynne!! Hope you enjoyed your special day. I'm working on three different quilts presently and just learned that grand baby #9 is coming shortly after Christmas so I'll be making a new baby quilt. I'm SEW excited!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthdays! Enjoy your day. I am currently working on a queen sized quilt which is almost entirely KT fabrics. And I'm working on Christmas gifts this summer. I would love to win some more of your fabrics. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday, Lynne. I'm starting my red and white Christmas quilt now the holiday and vacation is over. Looking forward to working on this one.
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy birthday!! My summer plans are to finish a wedding quilt that I need to gift in about 20 days!!!! Our family has had 7 weddings and 5 babies in the past 18 months....and I make a quilt for each event! I've been busy sewing for family! All of my own WIPs are taking a back seat. I'm looking forward to getting them out again.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Blessings, Lynne! You share my grandmother's birthday. She lives about 4 hours south of you in Oklahoma. :) Great job on the yard work, it looks very nice. And I love the Patriotic decor. You gave me a nifty idea. I have an antique jug similar to yours, and would like to turn mine into a lamp too. Genius! As far as summer sewing, I just want to get some unfinished projects out and finished!
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I have many plans and hope to finish a few! Lol!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Lynne. I hope you had a great, fun and restful day. As far as my summer quilting plans go, I am still striving to finish a few UFOs. It's hard to find time in the summer to quilt, because there is so much to do outdoors. But if I can get a couple more UFOs finished, I will be able to work on 1 or 2 charity quilts, then I want to sew a Christmas quilt. My first holiday quilt, and I'm eager to get to it.
ReplyDeletemy summer sewing plans are to finish two quilts of valor, one of which my grand daughter is helping with. Her quilt is going to a special serviceman who will be returning to Afghanistan in December for the third time.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Love the quilt with the star in the center. What the pattern name? I am in the process of making a 9-patch quilt for our bed, only 3 more rows to make. After I finished it, I want to start making small KT Christmas table toppers/runners.
ReplyDeleteThe star quilt is from the Independence series of 3 booklets to make a queen quilt. Check it out under books at ktquilts.com
DeleteHappy Birthday! Enjoy your special day. Finishing up a Quilts of Valor quilt.
ReplyDeleteThe whole year is "finishing". No more "tops"!
ReplyDeleteOf course, one thing leads to another and where scraps are created so are New quilts.....forever quilting.
Happy Birthday to you Lynn and Happy Fourth.
Hope your birthday was special. Love the inspiration chalk board. I have been working on a quilt for my nephew, he is getting married in October and I am determined to have it finished long before we drive to Phoenix for the wedding. I will not be sewing down binding in the car!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a lovely birthday!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! My summer plans want include yard work, here in coastal North Carolina its in the high 90's. So that means more time to sew, which I'm currently working on a Christmas quilt.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteHope you had a blessed birthday!! It is a treat for me to take time to create something for our home on my birthday too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday!! I hope you get to celebrate by doing whatever you want to do. Thanks for the wonderful giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! My plans are to finish some of the many tops that have accumulated- they need to become quilts. I am working on the third top,big stitching it. I hoped to get more done but it's tough to sit with a quilt on my legs in a heatwave!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I love your chalkboard idea. I too have a unneeded window and a chalkboard would so great in that area. Thanks for the inspiration. I have 4 unfinished quilt projects in progress. This summer's wish is to get at 2 of those finished.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Nothing like a lunch date (with hubby?) to bring some smiles to the day. Enjoy
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful day celebrating your birthday! 🎉🎂 My summer goal is to finish finish finish started project. Then this fall start some new projects. 🌻
ReplyDeleteHope your birthday is a great one! Summer quilting plans? Hmmm...so much to do, so little time! No real plans - just going to try to finish some projects. We'll see.

ReplyDeleteYour yard looks fabulous! Love these kansas rains ....but keeping up with these weeds is cutting into my sewing time....jmh
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lynne! The chalkboard looks rustic and beautiful. I am working on several different quilts for Christmas gifts. Summer is a pull between wanting to make sure I have enough time to finish them and enjoying the weather. Two of the quilts I am doing are lake themed and are fun to do this time of year.
ReplyDeleteYour chalkboard is sure to be a great place for your inspiration pieces.
ReplyDeleteMy summer plans include yard work and quilting but I think the plans have been way laid by the inherited addition of a "new" 10 yr old dog. He's both sweet and contankerous! My 2 goldens are trying to welcome him but the poor boy has never been too socialized and doesn't know what to think of it. We hope to win him around.
Thanks for the awesome giveaway. Fabric always cheers 😊
Happy Birthday! My daughter and her family are visiting us in Montana from Arizona. She's pregnant so my plans are to take her shopping to choose fabric for a baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! My summer plans include trying to finish a log cabin quilt I started in January. Then binding on another that I started 2 years ago!! I'll get it finished one of these days :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Yesterday was our 47th anniversary. Lot of good times/memories around the 4th. Love your use of quilts in decorating around your home!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! My son/DIL's anniversary is July 1st. Lots to celebrate!
DeleteHappy Birthday, Lynne. We've had very hot and extremely dry weather so besides keeping the gardens watered I've had lots of quilting time to get a jump of Christmas runners.
ReplyDeleteVery cute chalkboard and décor. Happy birthday! Hope your day is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLisa
Happy Birthday! Have a great lunch! My Birthday was on the Fourth of July, and I don't mind sharing it with the whole country! Have a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to you, too!
DeleteHappy Birthday, hope it's the Best Ever!!

A very Happy Birthday to you. Love your colors!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lynne! My summer quilting plans include 2 wedding quilts, a Christmas stocking and a quilt/blanket for my first grandbaby, and a whole lot of quilting on tops that have piled up.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new granbaby! They're even more fun as they get older.
DeleteI'd love to win your fabric.
ReplyDeleteWish I lived close enough to stop by. Our closest quilting shop closed last year. Have a great birthday and may you be blessed for another year.
ReplyDeleteDo you all have retreats? Next year I so want to go on a quilting retreat.
We do have KT Retreats! Go to our website for more info or call 785-488-2120 and talk to Jamie. Hope to see you next year!
DeleteHappy birthday!!! Love the chalkboard. I had no idea you can make a chalkboard!

Happy Belated Birthday Lynne !! Red/Tan/Navy !! Perfect for summer decorating with a little splash of pastel colors. Love the table topper pictured above. I'm sure I have the pattern somewhere. It looks like a quick and easy project.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday! I love reading your posts. It is just like getting a letter from a close friend/relative. I hope to get some more done on Shawn's Christmas quilt soon. If I don't she won't get it for Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday!!! Around our house, we celebrate for the whole week. Love your table topper!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Lynne! I hope your lunch date was wonderful! I love how you decorate...so warm, cozy and inviting!
ReplyDeleteI plan to get back to a couple projects I started back in March, one being my Clara's Raised Garden from Pigeon Forge. A lady in our quilt group just suggested that we all make a quilt of valor to donate to a deserving soldier. Who better to to do it for than someone that has protected and served us and our country.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard to decide which I like most: patriotic or Christmas, such a dilemma! How about both, love your fabric Lynne and big Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteSince I am now retired after 30 yrs and 7 months, I plan on sewing at least 4 hours a day and devoting 1 hour a day to getting the house back in order. I have so many projects lined up it's ridiculous! But there's always room for some more! Happy Birthday! My mother in laws birthday is on the 4th! She is always saying how the whole country celebrates with her!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. May your day be extra special. I would love to make a red, tan and blue quilt. Thanks for a chance to win.
ReplyDeleteHappy Happy belated Birthday wishes to you. Love your chalk board wall. I 'sew' ready to start some red/tan/blue items. I donate items to my brothers Vietnam reunion every year and these would be perfect for that. Thanks for all you do. I hate weeding between stone paver walkways. We have the same problem.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, may you have a blessed day. the red white and blues are my favorite and I also have to do the weeding.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a happy birthday. My birthday is this month too. I have two quilt projects going right now. I have one on the long arm and one I am piecing for my Grandson. After I complete those, the plan is to start on quilts for Christmas giving. I figure if I start now, I may get them finished in time.
ReplyDeleteQuilting this summer: finishing an applique project from a class 2 years ago and finishing the holiday snowman quilt for my granddaughter's family, in progress for THREE years! Jeannine aka j9knits
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. We are celebrating a grand daughter's 11th birthday today, although the celebrating started yesterday and will go as long as she can get others to cooperate!
ReplyDeleteNow that your weeds are tamed, my bean patch needs some serious work. The bean look so forlorn but the weeds are numerous and healthy. I have 2 weeks of family reunions, maybe I can squeeze in a minute or two here or there. Thanks.
Love the chalk board. Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteLove the chalkboard idea and your decor ideas. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI am FINALLY finishing my Five & Dime quilt & then it's off to making a star quilt. A very Happy Birthday to you & thanks for all your wonderful ideas! May you have another wonderful year! God Bless
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I'm working on a couple mini quilts this summer. Love your little red, white and blue eggs!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Hope to get some finished quilt tops layered and completed this summer.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! My plans have been made for me, my great niece is having her second baby in August so a quilt has been requested! Thanks for the change

ReplyDelete♪♫ Happy Birthday to YOU! ♫♪ I plan on digging out my quilt room and starting with my NEW "Loose Change" Book and Rulers!
ReplyDeleteWahoo! Have fun!
DeleteLess quilting in the summer. More shopping for projects to sew when the cooler days return.
ReplyDeleteLess quilting in the summer. More shopping for projects to sew when the cooler days return.
ReplyDeleteI just finished 4 quilts for charity, and now that they are off the frame, I have a patriotic Bargello for my husband and a scrappy 4-patch for me to finish up!
ReplyDeleteHappy "Birthweek" Lynn! I spent the 4th working on a scrappy star quilt, using KT fabric of course. Bees In Bloom is my NEW favorite!
ReplyDeleteHope your birthday was a happy one! I LOVE patriotic quilts and runners -- guess it may be because I'm a July birthday girl too! Been working on a group raffle quilt for a local town celebration we have in November. Once finished I will start gathering projects for an upcoming quilt retreat in August. :o)
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! I am working on a king sized flannel quilt for myself. Hope to have it done by Christmas. Thanks!
ReplyDeletePlease click on the delaineelliott above for my email link.
Thank you for this opportunity. I love red, white, & blue all year but especially during the summer.
ReplyDeleteI'm finishing up two quilts and about to begin a quilt called Lattice Bones.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday! Your blackboard is a very clever solution! Nice!
ReplyDeleteLove your decorating--hope your 4th was great!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. I hope your special day is really special. My plans for this summer is to finally get my studio up and running. We built our house 1 year ago and my studio is the last to get finished. We packed in the fabric and have enough to last 2 or 3 lifetimes. I can't add 1 more charm pack. Time to do some serious sewing.
ReplyDeleteHope all your birthday wishes come true. We spent our July 4th week-end trying to get ahead of all the rapidly growing weeds, too. And, trimming all the landscaping. Finally, everything looks very manicured! Plus, I spent time reorganizing my sewing space so I can start on a couple new projects. First is to learn appliqué and second sew a Taekwondo quilt for a grandson. Thank you for this red, white, and blue fabric giveaway. Prayers for our country's freedom and peace.
ReplyDeleteI have made a goal of finishing an art quilt that I started last year (or was it two years ago??) for my neighbor. I also plan to finish Sara's Raised Bed Garden, which I started in March at your class in Pigeon Forge! I have many, many projects lined up and included in that lineup is a holiday quilt, but haven't determined a pattern as of yet.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday. I love your chalkboard. What a great place for inspiring items.
ReplyDeleteBusy getting caught up on summer projects, and looking forward to getting into Christmas fabric!
