KT Favorites III

Arriving Soon!

We're waiting not so patiently for my newest basics line, KT Favorites III. I chose nine prints I loved from the past 10 years to recolor and mix in with all the new KT collections coming out. I knew I wanted to make my 20 Years of KTQ anniversary quilt with more than 40 fabrics, so adding 40 basics was the perfect solution. If you have a stash of KT fabrics, you're ahead of the game. But I digress...

Today, I want to show you the quilts I made with 40-print KT Favorites III precuts PLUS 20 packs of just tan precuts. Yes, Moda cut Jr Jelly Rolls and Jr Layer Cakes with 20 tans in each to add to a regular JR or LC for even easier kitting/cutting. A 40-print Layer Cake plus a 20-tan JR Layer Cake is pretty much 30 lights and 30 darks for a perfectly balanced quilt.

Chasing Stars

It seems I've been on a flying geese kick lately, but I LOVE how easy these blocks go together using my simplified Layered Patchwork technique. It's also nice that star point units are made similarly to flying geese, so the quilt really just takes one block. SOOOO EASY! For those of you hesitant to try Layered Patchwork, we've also offered a traditional piecing option for Chasing Stars. Still fun and fast. A coordinating table runner and pillow are included in the booklet. Find the booklet and kit HERE.

NOTE: When you order a kit from KTQ, the booklet or pattern is included. If it's one of our books with multiple projects, such as Layers of Love, Loose Change, Cozy Quilts & Comforts or Prairie Life, you'll need to order the book separately. We don't want to include a book automatically if you already own it. Please call the store if you have any questions about your order. 785-488-2120.

Chasing Stars 18" pillow

Let's giveaway the booklet, Chasing Stars, and a KT Tan JR Layer Cake this week (or as soon as we receive them). Comment below on your feelings about flying geese - love 'em, dread 'em, make 'em anyway? We'll select a winner next week.

On a side note, does anyone know how to block certain comments that are not relevant to my site? I'd appreciate the help.

Have a great beginning to your summer, Lynne.

  6. I find all triangles challenging, including flying geese, but that doesn't prevent me from making and using them in quilts. Your Chasing Stars quilt and runner are beautiful. Thank you for offering the giveaway.
I'm sorry I don't know how to block non-relevant comments. Blogger often flags the spam comments on my blog and publishes them only after I've okayed them. I hope one of your readers knows how to help.

  7. The Chasing Stars quilts are very nice. I like the mixture of colors. Making flying geese doesn't bother me. I usually use the No-Waste method. I can't wait to see what you selected for Favorites III.

  8. I guess I have a love/hate relationship with them. I love how they look in a quilt, but I don't love to make them! I guess my flying geese have a tendency to go wonky. I can't wait to get a fat quarter bundle of KT3!! Thanks so much for this chance, Lynne.

  12. Because I love the imagery of flying geese, and the metaphors that can come with them, I've tried a lot of different ways of making them (hst's, several at a time, Bloc Loc ruler, etc.). I'm always looking for the way that results in the sharpest points and is the easiest for me, and I'll be happy to give your way a try in case that's the winner. Thanks for the giveaway!
