KT&Friends Retreat 2023

We're so excited to announce our 2023 KT&Friends Retreat! 

Our Guest Designer this year is Deb Strain with Saltbox Designs. I love her whimsical panels and bee-themed prints. She'll share one of her newest bee collections with us in an embroidery pincushion/sachet workshop plus, a very informative trunk show/demo of how she hand paints her designs. This is one talented lady you don't want to miss!

Layered Patchwork and raw edge designs are popping up all over the quilting world these days. I'm going to share my original technique (with a traditional piecing option) featuring KT precuts by Moda. We're planning projects that can be completed or almost completed at the retreat for fewer UFO's on your list.

I challenge myself to create a charm quilt for each fabric collection based on the theme of the line. After designing the Clover Blossom Farm, it was fun to play with the flower blocks based on classic log cabins. Easy traditional piecing with a twist makes each block bloom.

Gramma Ethel's Garden

I enjoyed working in the garden with my Gramma as a child. I not only learned the difference between a radish leaf and a weed, but also the rewards of hard work in the form of fresh strawberries and vegetables. She's the woman who nurtured my creative spirit and encouraged messes in the process. Her collection of buttons, trims and fabric scraps was fascinating to me. We would spend a whole morning selecting the perfect fabric and trims for Barbie clothes, then sewed them by hand. It was a special time spent with a special lady. She passed away in my early twenties before I started quilting, but I'm sure she's rooting me on from her garden in Heaven.

My quilt, Gramma Ethel's Garden, is in appreciation of her unconditional love and support throughout my life. The simple-to-piece blocks create a garden of blooms in prim rows, just like her garden from my childhood memories. Do you have a special memory of a Grandmother?
