Another Charming Thursday

Let's celebrate fall with our Shades of Autumn fabric collection. I always look forward to the first signs of fall - cooler evenings, changing leaves, sweater weather (Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts has a really cute charm quilt with this name). The colors of fall work perfectly in my home decorating scheme. I love the feel of being surrounded by warm, rich colors - deep browns, pumpkins, barn reds, greens, golds & navy. It's not a just a preference, it's a way of life from season to season.

Here are a few of our favorite seasonal projects from KT Stash that are now available as individual patterns.

Sitting on the porch, watching the seasons change, is one of the things I enjoy the most about country living. Even if I'm working, it's more tranquil and inspiring. Where's your "happy place"?

  2. Very nice table runners--all of them. And I'm with you on the fall colors--I think that is what first drew me to the KT collection. My happy place?--I love to sit on my front deck in the cool of the evening and actually hear the wings of the Canada Geese (my MIL from Canada says they do not call them Canadian Geese--I guess they don't want to grant them citizenship, as we do our eagles) flapping as they fly overhead. Country living is the best!!

  7. I have enjoyed sitting on the porch this spring. It seems everything has gotten greener and taller this year. I got some bird feeders and love to just enjoy the cool breezes and listen to the birds.

  8. During the summer, my favorite place is out in the garden, early in the morning as the sun rises through the trees. The birds singing while I eat cherry tomatoes straight from the vine. My feet damp with dew. No worries, no thoughts, just breathing in the morning.

In the fall, my favorite place is out in the woods on a cool fall afternoon. The trees rustling their fire tinted leaves with the breeze. Nuts dropping. The smell of the banked leaves and that faint whiff of someone's fire place burning in the distance. The world aglow.

Okay, I should probably stop now... Have a great weekend.

  9. If I 'HAD' a porch, I'm sure that would be my happy place too! But alas, I sit in a rocking chair in my studio and stitch and hook away.

  10. Our screen porch is my haven (with my kitty). I enjoy the fall most of all but the birds singing in the spring is enjoyable as well, just a lot of pollen to deal with. Summer is too hot!

  11. Fall is my favorite season! The temps are wonderful and every color everywhere is just so warm and the smells are delightful.

My favorite place is my back porch, it runs the length of our house and is screened in. We call it the treehouse. When we sit in it we can look out at all the beautiful trees and wildlife in our yard (deer, birds, turkeys) it's just like sitting up in a treehouse. It's why I named my blog Karen's Treehouse Quilts. In the winter we can see the lake behind our house. It's great.

I love all three of the patterns the colors are warm and wonderful! Have a great week.

  14. During the spring, summer and fall my favorite place is in my flower gardens. I love the spring bulbs, the summer flowers and fall mums. In the winter it has to be my rocker where I can sit and do handstitching or read a book.

    Love the runners!

  16. When it's cool enough (but not too cold), I love the porch swing on our covered patio. I like a swing so much more than a plain chair. (I'm told that when I was a baby, the wind-up swing was my favorite spot.)

  17. My house when its clean :) Its still a good spot when toys and other stuff is everywhere...but its happier clean! The back porch is also a great place!

  18. Fall is my most favorite season of all also but I'm not ready for it quite yet. I'm really enjoying the spring/summer weather, temps, etc. That's the only bad thing about fall is it's followed by winter (though ours usually isn't TOO BAD! LOL).

  19. My happy place is the swing on the patio under our deck. I can see all my flowers from there.

  20. Fall has always been a favorite season for me. I love the exhilorating color; the scent and brisk wind with a nip in the air, and the desire to hunker down and get cozy. I have a happy place on my porch swing and spend many summer hours there either just watching the world go by or perhaps reading. When it just too cold for that it will either be a rocker by the wood stove or in the sewing room with the sun warming me while I sew a bit.

  27. Love the table runners. I am looking at making my first table runner for my new Amish dining table soon. Hum...I don't have a happy place right now because we are living with family (just closed on our house today). But I imagine it being at our new home out in the country, sitting at my Amish table, watching my son play in the backyard while I sew and listen to music about the Lord. :o) All while sipping a great cup of coffee, of course!

  33. Backyard, cedar swing, firepit, hot dogs, marshmallows = happy place. A close second is the deck, overlooking flower gardens. I am really anxious for end of this school year, and sewing on all those projects I've set aside for summer break.

  40. Fall is my favorite time of the year. The colors are so pretty and the temps are cooler. I love decorating with pumpkins and gourds. The mums are always so beautiful blooming. I love baking more in the fall too. Apple bars and pies are my favorite. I love sitting on our deck listening to the birds and working on my handwork. One of my all time favorite quilts of yours is my pumpkin quilt with the snowball blocks in the center with the maple leaves. I believe it was from your Kansas troubles club from years back.
    Have a good holiday weekend,
