The weather here in Kansas has definitely taken a turn for fall this weekend. We had our first hard freeze Saturday night. A good thing to get rid of bugs, a not so good thing where my plants are concerned. We covered what we could and hoped for the best. So far, not much damage. I just hope fall hangs on for a while and we don't rush into a cold, dry winter. The crisp, cool days are so invigorating!
Now, down to business. Congratulations to comment #5, Sallie. You've won the Starry Moon pattern/fabric. Please email your shipping address and we'll get your package together later this week.
As for today, I'm headed to Kansas City to speak at the Greater Kansas City and Olathe Quilt Guilds tomorrow - a program in the morning, a workshop all afternoon and another program Tuesday evening. Whew! I better take some extra vitamins for lunch! Looking forward to visiting some "local" guilds again even though they're about 3 hours away for me. It's always a good excuse to go to the big city and shop. Maybe something new for market....
Speaking of market, UPS delivered the new Pheasant Hill fabric on Friday. Lois went home with the first project but we have lots to do after I return home. Here's another peek at a couple of the prints in the line:
I love the trumpet vine floral - it's a great size for borders and comes in a yummy purple. The Puddles fabric is a delish tone-on-tone in every color in the collection that is also going to be available in 108" wide backing fabric - perfect! The diagonal stripe is fun in several colors and adds great movement in blocks. Can't wait to show you all the finished projects right after market.
For now, comment here about a favorite fall recipe for a crowd (we're having the annual Oct/Nov Birthday Bash here on Saturday) and you could be the first on your block to win some Pheasant Hill fabric!
See you next week, Lynne

I just love sweet potatoes, and love to make a big bowl of mashed potatoes with butter and cinnamon. Have a great Bash.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I have emailed you.
ReplyDeleteI'm a chili girl... you just can't go wrong with a bowl of chili and lots of fixins' to have it your way! Looking forward to seeing your patterns using Pheasant Hill fabrics!
ReplyDeleteOh, the new fabrics are awesome! Any teeny, tiny motifs for centers of pendants? Can't wait to see these in person! As far as fall food...vegetable beef soup, bread or grilled cheese, and pumpkin bars. Have fun visiting the guilds!
ReplyDeleteWe have been cooking for a crowd lately. My hubby makes a Brisket in the cooker, and we add a Hash brown potatoe casserole, plus salad and beans. The Brisket goes a long way if you slice it thin. Great for a large gathering. Love the new fabric. The trumpet vine is my favorite too.
ReplyDeleteLove Pheasant Hill fabrics--great patterns! Chili and barbecued Brisket are good standbys. Come on, Fall!!!
ReplyDeleteGood ole homemade Baked Beans. They seem to go with anything. Every get together we have them. Chili and cornbread are also a good get together food. Apple pie bars...oh yum!
ReplyDeleteI am so loving the fabric. The colors, the prints...way to hard to pick a favorite.
Love those fabrics. For a crowd during the fall I would fix a big pot of chili. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm not ready for this cold weather either, got down in the 40s last night here in Texas----better go and check my begonias. Lovely prints in your new line-----today I'll be finishing a Wicked Easy quilt using your Summer's End from a couple years ago. Fitting for this time of year, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric--especially the floral. they would make a great quilt to cuddle under while the crock pot is cooking up our barbeque beef sandwiches. Throw some chuck roast in the crock pot, add some barbeque sauce--we like Sweet Baby Ray's- and let it simmer away all day. What is really good but sounds weird is to add some coleslaw to the barbeque beef sandwich. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI don't usually cook for a crowd, but apple crisp sure would be good! I prefer apple pie, but apple crisp is easier to make a large amount of.
ReplyDeleteI like a lasagne or a cottage pie!
ReplyDeleteChicken tortilla soup is a crowd pleaser around here...jmh
ReplyDeletePotato Soup is my crowd pleaser! It is our comfort food for the fall season! Love the Pheasant Hill fabrics! HUGS... and stitches
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is Chicken Tortellini soup - a recipe that was in an early issue of Wool Street Journal - YUM!
ReplyDeleteI love anything with apples in the fall, and I would say that apple crisp becomes my staple food, lol.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
It got as low as 24 here in SW Iowa a couple nights ago. So goodbye to our pepper and tomato plants. Did manage to save all of my mums for some color around the house. My fall favorite would be chili with lettuce and mayo sandwiches. Sounds like a strange combination but it is really good. Looks like Pheasant Hill is another winner. Have fun at the guild meetings.
ReplyDeleteTried a new German Cheese Potatoe Soup this last week and it's really delicious, especially with it being a little chilly this last week! Love the new fabric.
ReplyDeleteMy family loves potato casserole made with shredded potatoes, butter, sour cream, sharp cheddar cheese, and bacon...........can you say calories!
ReplyDeleteSome pulled pork would be yummy topped off with some pumpkin bars or a pan of brownies. I love the print with the stripe.
ReplyDeleteI like to have chili for a crowd. It always goes over well around here. Love the vine fabric and the rest as well. Very pretty. Thanks for the chance to won.
ReplyDeleteMary
Cheaters Chicken Pot Pie! Just make a 9x13 deep pan full of the filling.... and serve with biscuits! Oh yum! Of course... I just read through the comments prior to mine and the pulled pork and potato caseroles sound divine too! lol!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Debbie, anything with apples. But I'd have to include pumpkin, too. My favorite recipe is Mountain Dew Apple Dumplings. So easy to make but full of calories!
ReplyDeleteBaked beans either done in the slow cooker or oven. You could even make a large roast pan of scalloped potatoes.i make mine with cheese melt into the sauce and topped with cheese on top.
ReplyDeleteWhat great line this looks to be I love the trumpet fabric too and the diagonal fabric would also make a great binding.
Something that is often overlooked is some form of bread. To show off my homemade jam or jelly, I often make a big batch of cornbread for fall gatherings.
ReplyDeletePheasant Hill looks beautiful! For fall gatherings, I like to make a Baked Ziti. The recipe I use is a bit different than the usual though. It has pesto mixed with the diced tomatoes. Other ingredients include the pasta, Italian sausage, ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, and fresh spinach. There are a few other ingredients that I'm not remembering at the moment, but I love the different flavor the pesto adds. I make a double batch (2-9x13 pans) for larger crowds. Hmmmm...think I need to make some this weekend!
ReplyDeleteBeef Stew
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Fall recipe for a crowd would have to be homemade chili. Love those new fabrics...the trumpet vine floral is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeletelove the new fabric. especially the trumpet vine. Love the change in the backing fabric also.
ReplyDeleteAny type of soup, chili, or stew would be great with individual bread bowls. icecream cake has become a family favorite for our birthdays.

Don't feed a crowd but our go to cold weather menus are usually roasts in the oven or a small chicken. Nows the time we start to use the oven alot. Love the new fabric line - beautiful. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteTaco soup, feeds a crowd and is very tasty. Good fall food.
ReplyDeleteLove the pretty new fabrics. Fall makes me think of apple pie, but for a crowd apple crisp would work better. I like using McIntosh apples. Fall is such a wonderful time of year! Lana
ReplyDeleteTortilla soup is my favorite :-) Love the new fabrics.
ReplyDeleteProbably a crock pot full of sloppy joe filling! I Love the New Line!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh....fall to me is a pot of homemade chili, chicken soup, apple crisp, and pumpkin cake w. cream cheese frosting. Just a few of the many foods that are made in my kitchen when cooler weather arrives.
ReplyDeleteThose fabrics are absolutely yummy; and I would love to be the winner.....pick me, pick me!!!!
Love your fabrics! I make chili as soon as the weather gets cool. My first batch was this weekend! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is apple crisp, plus your house smells so good from it baking!!!!
DeletePretty fabrics! I like to make beef vegetable soup. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteApple crisp, pumpkin cookies, chili and cornbread, cauliflower salad. Roasted tomato and carmelized onion relish. the possibilities are endless.
ReplyDeleteThe puddle print is terrific--glad to know it will come in lots of colors. My favorite fall recipe for a crowd is a Hamburger Soup--very simple to make and always a crowd pleaser, especially with some fresh rosemary garlic toast on the side and a generous spoonful of shredded parmesan to melt at the bottom of the bowl as the hot soup is ladled in.
ReplyDeleteEveryone love taco dip! Love your fabrics!
ReplyDeleteBeef stew is our favorite and so filling. Thanks
ReplyDeleteBig baked potatoes with lots of different toppings so everyone can make their own - chili, cheese, sour cream, onions, salsa, ground beef with gravy...whatever you like. Have a blast at your bash!!! Beautiful fabrics - thanks for the opportunity to win some!!
ReplyDeleteAs the weather cools down, we look forward to "comfort foods". One of our favorites for fall is Chili-mac, a big pot, of course! I can almost smell it now!!
ReplyDeleteHot apple cidar with cinnamon sticks keeps warm in a slow cooker and makes the house smell great. And I love the taste. Pheasant Hill is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteLoving your new fabric line. I make a pumpkin crisp that I've served at work - everyone enjoys it. It was in the low 50s & raining here in NC yesterday - that's winter weather not fall. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThe trumpet vine floral is lovely, I'll have to watch for it at my LQS. If you like pumpkin pie, but want something faster with the same flavor, try pumpkin fluff. There are sugar free and fat free versions out there and they taste just like fall! We like it with apple slices or ginger snaps.
ReplyDeleteFall is a great time for a pot of clam chowder with some fried sweet potatoe fries.
ReplyDeleteBy the way I love your fabrics.
I love your new fabric line! The purple trumpet vine fabric looks great. For fall recipes how about a big pot of chili? Or how about those great crock pot desserts that you made at our retreat?
ReplyDeleteLOVE that new fabric!! This isn't just for fall, but we had it yesterday and wanted to share: Italian Beef and baked cheesy potatoes. It's sew easy and sew good! 2 beef roasts, 2 cans of beer, 2 packets of Zesty Italian (powder) dressing mix, several pepperocinis, put all in crock pot, cook on low all night, tear the beef apart and take out the fat, cook another hour. Oh my it's good!
ReplyDeleteOne thing that hits the dessert button is pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. My recipe makes a jelly roll pan so there is enough for everyone. Terri U from Nebraska
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Fabrics... cannot wait to see the whole line!
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting... from beautiful Dillon, CO!

Love the trumpet vine fabric! My favorite fall recipe is one that I just found. I have been gluten free for about a year and once in a while I want something bread like. Well about two weeks ago I found a gluten free pumpkin muffin recipe. It is amazing and you would never guess that it is gluten free. It satisfies my urge for pumpkin and muffins all at the same time. I've had several girlfriends over and they have also loved them. A definite pleaser for sharing with girlfriends over coffee or tea!
ReplyDeleteCute fabric! I made this last night for quilt guild, and everyone asked for the recipe--really easy, but probably not so healthy.
ReplyDeleteMelt 16 oz. almond bark
Pop 2 regular size bags of popcorn. Mix warm popcorn, one bag candy corn, 1 tablespoon black/orange sprinkles (optional). Pour melted bark over popcorn mixture, stir well and pour out onto wax paper lined pans to cool. Store air tight. Makes A LOT!
This time of year lends itself to soups, chowders and chili! We had cabbage & beef soup and fresh baked french bread with Pumpkin Roll for dessert this past Sunday! Pretty fabrics!
ReplyDeleteLola
How about a nice big lasagne! With some pumpkin bars for dessert.
ReplyDeleteLove the new fabric -- makes me want to forget cooking and sew ! Thank goodess it is cooler here in Arkansas.
ReplyDeleteOur go-to favorite for a crowd is a casserole we call Dallas Chicken (in fact we are serving it as our Wednesday night dinner at church this week). It is easy, very, very good and our church youth are always asking for it! And, it's even BETTER the next day, that is, if there are any leftovers!
ReplyDeleteIn the fall for a gathering you can't go wrong with a big pumpkin cleaned out and pumpkin pies made with the meat, Put some salt in the pumpkin to help dry it out. Make a huge pot of hamburger vegetable soup (add some of those pumpkin cubes to it), serve it in the pumpkin and offer some crusty garlic and cracked pepper bread and don't forget those pumpkin pies for dessert. Make that whip cream interesting with a sprinkle of sugared cinnamon and a small dash of coarse black pepper (just a tiny bit, it is a great flavor).
ReplyDeleteThe Pheasant Hill fabrics look very pretty. Scalloped potatoe casserole with a baked ham is nice for a crowd.
ReplyDeleteYou can never go wrong with pumpkin pie. My family enjoys it after dinner and fights over it for breakfast the next day! Great new fabrics. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteThis time of year there is nothing better in Indiana than Boilermaker Chili--especially on a cold football Saturday. Full of meat, beans and usually the end of the garden. The recipe is on allrecipes.com. It is worth the effort. I love the new fabric line--especially the wide width Puddles.
ReplyDeleteOh my, does that Pheasant Hill fabric look yummy! Can't wait for that one. My favorite fall weather recipe would have to be White Chicken Chili. It is one of those "stick to your ribs" kind of meal, just right for a chilly day.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful fabric, the diagonal stripe looks very interesting.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite for a crowd is always homemade Baked Beans, yummy!
Glynis
Love the looks of the Pheasant Hill fabric. For a crowd in the Fall, Chili is my recipe of choice. Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love apple crisp in the fall. The new fabric line is really pretty. Thanks for all you do.
ReplyDeleteWe love baked apples with oatmeal, cinnamon, and sugar in the middle where the core was--sort of like your own individual apple crisp. Carmel apples are a favorite too. I really like your new fabric line--looks rich. Thanks for the chance to win it.
ReplyDeleteGreat fabric - would love to win.
ReplyDeleteFavorite fall food is tortellini in a crock pot.
Charlotte S.
my favorite fall recipe is pumpkin pie cake, it is made with a box of spice cake mix a can of pumpkin pie mix and a few other ingred. and then frosted with cool whip with a little brown sugar mixed in.
ReplyDeleteI think Sloppy Joes, cole slaw, baked beans and apple crisp would be a great fall dinner for a crowd!
ReplyDeleteOne of the first dishes I make when fall arrives is white chicken chili with a pile of tortilla chips on the side. Love the trumpet flowers in your new line!

Our fav Fall meal is Texas Chili with jalapeno cornbread ... and my "kids" still love a big pot of vegetable beef soup when they're home. Pumpkin bread or muffins are always requested too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win, love the new fabric ! Happy Fall !
My family starts asking for soups as soon as it cools down...corn chowder, cheese and vegetable, and chili. I can't wait to see the whole Pheasant Hill line! Thanks for the sneak peeks!
ReplyDeleteWe love to do big pots of soup or chili in the fall with big pans of cornbread. Warms you up and feeds a lot! Love that beautiful purple in the new line!
ReplyDeleteChili is a favorite fall recipe here. Put it in the crock pot and you are good to go. Also love a jelly roll pan full of pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting. YUM!
ReplyDeletePaula Dean's crockpot macaroni and cheese is one that my SIL makes that is for a hungry crowd. I prefer the Libby's pumpkin pie recipe on the back of the pumpkin pan. Buy some deep dish frozen pie crusts and it's easy to make.
ReplyDeletePotato soup, chowder or split pea soup. Love them when the weather turns cooler. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWe love having chili, potato soup or vegetable soup as soon as it cools down. Oh, and an apple crisp made with apples from our tree.
ReplyDeleteI love to make apple cake in the fall, my Grandma always made this and it just shouts fall to me. Thank for the chance to win some of your delish fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love pumpkin fritters and apple pie, mmm delicious! Thanks for the chance to win some of your yummiest fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteI like the trumpet vine floral. It looks like it would be a joy to sew with.
ReplyDeleteI love making a big pot of chicken and wild rice soup when the weather cools off! Sending it home with my girls, mother-in-law and friends. It is great with some good rolls too! Tonight I just made some apple dumplings and had vanilla ice cream! It was yummy too. I was so excited last Sat. I purchased several pieces of your newer fabrics! Love them!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks again, PatriciaD from Crystal City, MO
