Market Recap

Happy Halloween!

In our little burg, the entire grade school visits the downtown merchants on Halloween morning dressed in their spooky attire. We love it! Instead of candy, we gave out orange and black friendship bracelets, rubber jump-y spiders and googly-eyes stickers. Too fun!

Tokens of Friendship

We're home again after Fall Quilt Market in Houston. Moda showed our new Token of Friendship fabric collection and we displayed the projects made from that line - a sweet little autograph quilt called Best Friends (on the end of the table) and a large king quilt with a handful of options named Tokens of Friendship (on the left wall).
From this angle, you can see our ktquilts.com sign embellished with buttons, buckles, safety pins and
a zipper that I made for Moda's Schoolhouse, Spell it Out. Watch for the spring designer blog hop
for lots of free patterns and giveaways.

To the right is the Eye of the Storm, Windmills on the Plains and KT Shining Stars, all made with precuts from the
KT Favorites II collection, due in quilt shops in December. On the take are the 2 Honeycomb lap quilt featuring a
Layer Cake and Honeycomb using our layered patchwork method and our new KT Honeycomb ruler.

Here are the Fat Quarter Shop girls visitng about the new tutorial video we shot at market showing my layered patchwork technique. Watch for it at fatquartershop.com. The quilt behind me is the Tokens of Friendship
king quilt. The basket wall quilt and star runner plus 2 pillow toppers, a lap quilt and more are included in
this booklet. Available in March 2014.

Workshops in Illinois

I'm unpacking and repacking for a week in IL visiting the Hands All Around Quilt Guild in Normal, IL next week on Wednesday & Thursday, Nov. 6 & 7th, then on to Canton, IL to the Piecers of the Heartland Quilt Guild for workshops on Sunday/Monday, Nov. 10 & 11th, and their guild meeting on Monday night. If you're in the area, please join us!

  2. Your booth looks wonderful, the quilts looks so nice all displayed together. My fun was getting out for some shopping and I got one bag of candy in case someone stops by. Most of the kids are grown up, but sometimes a couple will come to say hi, so I made sure I got some candy. I plan on resting and watching scary movies and working on a christmas project, lol.

  6. Halloween is my favorite holiday and I always look forward to eating leftover halloween candy and watching scary movies after the trick-or-treaters leave.

  7. Your booth looks great! Love all the quilts. My kids are grown now, so we just have a quiet evening at home :-)

  8. My Halloween fun. Will be taking pictures of the neighbours kids.

  9. It is a wet and rainy Halloween here. We live in the country and sadly the kids tend to visit the more populated areas. Your booth looked wonderful.

  10. I'll be answering the door to trick or treaters. The rain quit so should be great weather this evening. Happy Halloween.

  11. My Halloween fun was a costume/brunch put on for us "older" people after our Yoga class at the Y. Loved seeing all the costumes. Who says you can't dress up at 60, or 70, or 80. LOL

  12. I had a fun lunch date with my 3 girlfriends today! Love your booth!

  13. I'm so envious of the folks who get to attend Market! Halloween at our house isn't what it used to be. When our kids were small we'd get 300+ trick or treaters. Now we're lucky to get 30 or so. Sigh....

  14. I give out candy and see all the Trick or Treaters! So much fun.

  18. We live in a new development and in the past year many more houses have been built, so we're expecting to pass out a lot of candy! Love your new patterns.

  19. We live in the country and no one ever comes trick or treating at our home, so my husband grabs some of our critters and comes knocking at the door trick or treating. Sometimes he puts some kind of costume on them. I always have goodies for them. I love your new fabrics and patterns. Thanks for the chance to win.

  20. It's pouring rain here in Maine, so fewer trick or treaters than usual. My cutest visitor was my great niece, Haven -a 3 year old who was a little pumpkin and her 3 month old sister, Bristol - a little strawberry!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Only 40 trick or treaters, so bummed. It started to rain, so it's 7:30pm and I think we're done. So sad, it's my favorite holiday, I enjoy all the little kids and the fun costumes. I hope next year is better. It looks like you had a great time! ;-> Toni Anne

  22. Our Halloween fun consists of waiting to see if we will have any Trick or Treaters. We have had seven children show up thus far which is more than triple our number from last year. I miss the days of great hoards of children coming to the house.

  23. My Halloween fun is seeing pictures of my two grandchildren and how cute they look in their costumes. My husband is the candy-hander-outer.

  24. I am a teacher and my Halloween fun was watching the kids have a Haloween parade!

  25. Oh my gosh, I had to work today on Halloween ,no costume for me, just my work uniform, my office is located in the county courthouse. Several of the offices in the courthouse brought candy. At 10:00am, the local pre-school brought us the trick-or-treaters! Everyone came out onto the front sidewalk, and here came the kids! It was such a lovely day, the weather was nice, a gentle wind blowing. The kids all said "Thank You". Lots of fun!

    ReplyDelete
  26. We had 16 little folks visit for treats...so sweet!

    ReplyDelete
  27. No trick or treaters here. It is pouring down rain, so I guess they went to the malls or indoor treat-fest. Last few years we haven't had any, so we had candy all to ourselves!

  28. We also have rain pouring down, so no tricks and treats tonight :( Feel bad for the kids! Hopefully next year will be better! Thanks!

  29. We live out in the country and all the kids have grown up, but we do get my 2 Great Nephews come to "scare" Auntie. This year they also brought their new baby sister. They loved their big chocolate bars and little pacs of cookies. They are so cute.

    ReplyDelete
  30. We don't usually get too many trick or treaters, but had quite a few this year. It is nice to see some young families moving back into the neighborhood again.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was ready by 2pm waiting patiently. My husband buys a lot of candy to give away. By 4pm I was nervous that I would have to eat all the candy by myself (oh, boo who!). Around 4:30 the first ghosts and goblins showed up and it was pretty much non-stop until around 8pm! Most of the candy is gone but I did snatch a few snickers bars for the freezer...YUMMY!

    ReplyDelete
  32. You booth looked great and as always, your patterns are beautiful. Our Halloween was very wet this year so not too many youngsters out but we did enjoy the ones who braved the weather.

    ReplyDelete
  33. We don't have any kids in the neighborhood, so it has been quiet here. I am hand stitching a Christmas project tonight. We did get a picture of two of our grand kids, they are huge Star Wars fans at 4 and 6 years old. Big brother was Luke Skywalker and little sis was Princess Leia. They were so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Attended the fun Witch Fest at Gardner Village showcasing larger than life witches throughout the village.

    ReplyDelete
  35. We had candy all ready but only had 4 visitors tonight! So I guess I will have fun sharing it with our family. :-) Really beautiful quilts in your market pictures. K-

  37. The Dad's in our neighborhood hook carts up to their lawn tractors and drive kids from house to house. They deck them out with lights and one had a beach umbrella as it was lightly raining.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Had so much fun with the grandkids - after trick or treating we sat by the fire pits and had hot dogs and lots of fun!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ours was canceled due to bad weather, so it's on for Sunday.
    Love your eye candy!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Since I, too, live outside of a town where no Trick or Treaters roam, I visit my grandkids in the city and we all go to the Zoo-Boo at the Detroit Zoo. I look forward to it every year. Chris Voss

  41. Our Halloween fun consisted of watching my son play a basketball game. Then we went to his friend's house so they could trick-or-treat (they are 13 - guess you're never too old to get candy - lol!). Then we had his friend over to spend the night. I just love to give out the candy to all the little (and not so little) ones! Thanks for the chance to win!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. The Saturday before Halloween, all the downtown businesses where our grandchildren live, have a trick or treat day. It was a beautiful, sunny day for the kids! We had so much fun seeing all the children in their costumes. More communities should do this.

  43. The first Halloween we lived in our house, I ordered spider rings & bug rings online - each bag had 250 rings. I also bought candy to give out. I figured the rings would last me maybe 3 years. But no, I gave out all the spider rings & about half the bug rings. The kids must come here by the busload. Thanks for the chance to win.

  44. I'll never forget when we lived in Sulphur, La., my husband bought 10 bags of Snickers, etc. since we had tons of little kids in the neighborhood. That way we could give each child 3 to 4 treats, but it was the year of the Halloween scare of razor blades, etc. in the candy. We had 3 children come to the door, and my DH gave each child a bag of candy. Needless to say, he took the leftover candy to work.

Love your patterns and fabric!! Thanks for the giveaway!!

  45. Our kids are off to college - however my husband love to get dressed in some funny goofy outfit and give out candy. This year was clown glasses and paper spiders on a white shirt. I did the pumpkin carving. Well, we were 1/2 way through the event and the doorbell rang. My husband opened the door and there was a 2 year old thomas the train little boy. He decided to welcome himself in through the door to pet the dogs as his dad was trying to grab him from the doorway. The dad was mortified but my husband and I were laughing. It was so cute and brought back memories of our freshman in college who too was fond of Thomas the Tank Engine. The little guy came in pet the "goggies" and then blurted out a big "wow" when he found a snicker fun size on floor my husband had dropped on the way to the door. You would have thought he won the lottery. It was the cutest thing.

  49. My big Halloween fun this year was dressing up as the wicked witch of the west for my job as cashier at our local movie theatre. Last year I made a little boy cry, but this year I just startled a few adults with my green face and amazing big hat! Such fun!

  50. Good Morning, I too live in the country and have no trick or treaters. I did go to Bible study in the morning and quilting club in the afternoon. Had a most wonderful time. Love your fabrics and quilts. Blessings and smiles, Emilou :-)

  51. Thanks for the photos from market--it's always fun to see what will be coming our way! My Halloween was spent at the hospital with my Mom, but the good part was that I didn't have to be home to pass out candy--our little goblins are so few and far between that just when you really get settled back in with some stitching, the door bell rings.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Not much Halloween fun at my house. We only had 13 trick or treaters. I sat & did some mending & watched TV, so it was a nice quiet evening. Thanks for the pictures from market.

  54. I went to the Trunk and Treat at our church. It's a quick way to treat and see most of the neighborhood kids and safe. I left a bowl of candy home with hub but since they started the trunk and treat few come around the neighborhood so the grandkids got most of that candy. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  55. We had a lot of Trick or Treaters, and they were adorable in their costumes and I liked the little fellow who was dressed as "Tigger." I enjoyed their excitment to get their favorite candy which is Kit Kats. The evening went by all too quickly! Thanks. Lana

  61. We live in the country and not too many children around but we did get three little cuties. I also drive a school bus and the children come on all dressed in their Halloween costumes. I love this time of the year.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Our town also celebrates Halloween with the elementary school walking to the local nursing home to visit. The entire school has a "parade" with the children dressed in their costumes. The parents line up along the exit of the school for the children to walk through and then they proceed to the nursing home. When they return to school they have a little party in each classroom. I like that they share their excitement with the elderly without expecting to receive anything from them.

    ReplyDelete
  63. We enjoyed seeing our little granddaughters in their Cinderella and Belle outfits, then giving out candy to our one trick or treater besides the grands. Not many kids out here in our rural neighborhood.

  79. I teach in grades 5 & 6. This is the first year in quite a while that we had school on Halloween. (Usually parent conferences!) So we had Science day in the morning and a Costume Fun Run (2 mi) for the kids in the afternoon. It was a great day! Our 450 kids did very well! Then just a few trick-or-treaters down our little country lane in the evening. But no time for sewing or quilting! Oh, well, another evening this week will have to do!

    ReplyDelete
  80. My Halloween fun was making trick or treating bags for 4 kids in my life and shopping for some candy to stuff in the bags. Since I was out of town on Halloween that was the limit of my Halloween fun.

  82. MyHalloween consisted only of my visiting great nephew and his mother, both in costume. For the first time, I laid low this Halloween. I have a barky little dog, and simply wanted peace and quiet vs. frantic barking every time someone came to the door. I felt a .little guilty - but not much. ;)
