When I asked Robert to take a couple pictures of the store after moving everything around, he went just a tad overboard and sent dozens! So here are a few more to share...
The Bee's Knees quilt above, featuring Moda's precut Honeycomb hexagons, is one of my favorite precut quilts so far - and one of the easiest. Simply cut a Honeycomb into quarters and stitch onto the corners of a square. When you sew the squares together into rows, the hexagons magically appear. So cool! Our KT Honeycomb ruler makes it even faster!
30-Something from the Layers of Love book looks way more difficult to piece than it is. Using our layered patchwork technique, it all breaks down into a 9-patch with squares & triangles stitched on top. Impressive results! The mini Charming Stars quilt on the bench starts with a charm and mini charm. It's all precut for you.
An oldie but a goodie is this quilt from Piecing the Past, a collection of a dozen vintage quilts from my collection remade in KT fabrics. All but a bowtie runner are made with traditional piecing methods. This stunning quilt is made from just 100 light/dark 9-patch blocks. Really!
We also handcut our own 10" and 5" squares of my woven brushed plaids - or we have fat 1/8 bundles, too. I think plaids add a great linear dimension and "man up" just about any quilt.
Need mini charms? We've got them in several KT fabric lines. What a great way to have a little piece of every KT collection, or a great beginning for a delightful postage stamp quilt.

ReplyDeleteIn between I love everything about Valentine's Day. My maiden name was Valentine, my parents always have hearts all year round, I do a smaller version. I wish I lived closer, I'd love to visit your shop, I looks beautiful, my favorite colors. Happy Ground Hogs Day!

ReplyDeleteIn between Christmas & Spring, I decorate for Valentine's Day and St. Patrick's Day. Hearts are always in season to me and St. Patrick's Day keeps me true to my Irish roots! (Green's my favorite color!)

ReplyDeleteLove seeing more pictures of your shop!! This time of the year (sometimes a smidge closer to March) I decorate for wildflower season. Bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush flowers, and Moda fabric items I have made that incorporate wildflowers.

ReplyDeleteI love my snowmen in January, not that I see real snowmen or snow often in Panama City, FL - one can pretend! and blue is my favorite color! February brings Valentine's Day and my favorite color intense holiday of Mardi Gras. I so love the rich jewel tones! March brings St. Patrick's Day. The colors get more spring like. The perfect lead in to spring flowers.
ReplyDeleteI usually put up my snowflake hanger outside after taking down all the Christmas decorations.. Inside I just get back to the basics until the first of feb and then the hearts come out :)
ReplyDeleteThe more pictures you post the more I want warmer weather so I can drive out and see the shop. I usually decorate with snowmen until the end of January and then do a few Valentine decorations. After that I just enjoy having all holiday type decorations put up. When we get the first hint of Spring I usually bring out the pastel flowery things.

ReplyDeleteHello,..I leave my snow babies on display in the curio cabinet, but all other Christmas is put away. However I do keep my Christmas/winter samplers up too. I decorate with many of my cozy warm quilts to create a warm atmosphere , and they do. I use lots of real flowers in bright bold colors to make me happy when the gardens are not in bloom. Out on the deck we have a few bird feeders and the birds provide amusement. I'm in the midst of re-organizing my sewing room and putting fabric, pattern etc. in one box for a later project to work on.

ReplyDeleteI don't decorate for the holiday's in the traditional manner, no poinsettias, holly, red & green etc. If I take the time to make quilts or runners or pillows I want to display them longer than a week or two. KT fabrics are my favorite colors to work with for my neutral pallet. I do rotate my displays to liven things up a bit.
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a transitional theme. Once Christmas is over I'm so happy to have all my quilts back out. Living in Rochester NY, it is cold enough and snowy enough to want to have lots and lots of quilts close and handy!
ReplyDeleteBetween Christmas and Spring is "prepare the garden" time! Get the dirt ready, plant the onions now, potatoes in about 10 days, then mustard greens & spinach, then ....

ReplyDeleteBetween Christmas and spring my decorating takes a break. Minimal hearts and shamrocks are set out, time is spent quilting instead.
ReplyDeleteI usually try for something related to Valentine's Day but don't usually get much done. I'm always looking forward to spring and try to keep some type of blooming flower in the house--usually primroses.
ReplyDeleteI don't really decorate for what I consider the "minor" holidays (Valentine, St. Patrick's Day) but I will admit that I have left the Christmas colored lights on the bushes outside the front of the house ... I just LOVED lights at Christmas and want to see them on when I come home at night. Inside I transition back to my snuggle quilts. We get very cold in Northern Michigan and those quilts are welcomed back with open arms. "Regular" table runners are back out and I will confess to purchasing a couple of "Spring-like" plants to brighten the space (tulips in bright colors). KT makes my favorite fabric lines ... love that I am able to combine some of each line and come up with great quilts, runners and other items. Keep up the GREAT work!! Linda
ReplyDeleteI love seeing pictures of your shop and I love the seedling pattern! I put up different table runners and small quilts each month ... snowmen and winter in January, Valentines in February, St. Pat's in March and Easter in April.

ReplyDeleteFlowers. Putting out potted flowers blooming-hyacinths are one-make things look brighter and smell lovely. I've seen them here in local stores.

ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and signed up for emails. Read about it in the October 2014 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting. My colours lean more to blues, turquoises, green and pink, but I love your designs and think they would translate well into my colours. This design reminds me of the quilt made by your grandmother that is shown in the article. Just put some cream coloured hexagons in between. Your grandmother's quilt is more my colours, brights and pastels, which I think are great to have in the house in the spring. Makes it seem like it's just around the bend. Which is hard to think right now, seeing as we just got dumped with over a foot of snow yesterday, so right now I'm really loving my pastel and bright colours in the house! ReplyDeleteI was getting tired of snowmen until we had over 19" of snow. Now the snowmen are on display. I decorate for each holiday with Americana up from May until Halloween. I love your fabric collections. The colors are my the best.
ReplyDeleteI have to leave a few snowmen up for January and I transition in hearts and Valentine then a few St Patrick's and florals until I'm ready for Easter and Spring.
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne, Snowmen are fine, but instead I leave up some of the little animals I have on the mantle, like reindeer and geese with scarves around their necks, and some birds too. Little pieces of fabric make great scarves!
ReplyDeleteThose mini melons are adorable. I am lucky if I get my Christmas decorations put away by Valentines Day, but this year I'm way ahead of schedule and packed up last week. I leave out the snowflakes as long as we have snow on the ground--some times until May here--haha! Otherwise, until Easter, I just enjoy things being uncluttered for a while.

ReplyDeleteI don't do a lot of decorating after Christmas but I like to get the forced flowers, tulips, daffodils, hyacinths for the kitchen and dining room. Plus we have 14 birthdays between January and the end of March so we have to decorate for those. Love the pictures. Great quilts. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love to decorate for the holidays with snowmen and old time Santa's. After the holidays I usually like to clean and reorganize the house. I have a few Valentines decorations for February and then I love to decorate for spring with lots of flowers, bunnies and birds. Thank You!
ReplyDeleteI do use some snowmen, but found a lot of wonderful aged silver mercury glass and silver trays with accents of red added through accessories such as plates, berry sprigs, and red glass along with quilts that have lots of red help during these dreary two months after Christmas.
ReplyDeleteEven though I live in So. CA, I still decorate with snowmen and a few Valentine decorations. And then it is time for Easter/spring decorations. Sorry but nothing original.

I don't do a lot of holiday decorating after Christmas. I leave my snoman and Alaska quilt out. On these few unusually warm Kansas days I do like to start brightening up the house and looking forward to spring planting. You will definitely find seed catalogs next to my rocking chair!
