KT Winner
Congratulations to Janan Doster. You're the winner of the Sunflower Song fat eighth bundle. Precuts and yardage have been arriving all week (we LOVE our UPS guy!) Now to cut kits and post all these goodies to our webpages.Fall is Here
I. Love. Fall. The weather is perfectly gorgeous here in Kansas - cool sunny days made for throwing open all the doors & windows, chilly nights just right for cuddly under my newest quilts. Time to decorate with pumpkins and mums - or mumpkins, if you please!
I've wanted to plant a mum in a pumpkin for several years but never got around to doing it. After cleaning out the pumpkin, you need to spray it inside and out with a sealer so the gourd lasts more than a few days. So much easier to walk into the greenhouse and choose from half a dozen mumpkins already complete! Score!
It's always fun to search the piles of gourds and pumpkins for the just the right sizes and shapes to make a stack like this one. Now I want at least one more stack for the front porch at the cabin. I might be developing a pumpkin/mumpkin addiction!
Here's what it looks like all together in front of Kansas Troubles Quilt Shop. We have a group of retreat ladies coming in this weekend so we're sprucing up the place a bit. (At least I packed away all the red/white/blue and got out some leaves and fall stuff. :)
Notice the lap quilt in the chair?
It's a new favorite I'll be teaching in a series of online tutorials for Quiltmaker next year called Mini Barn Raising. Learn my Layered Patchwork technique while making 3 projects. Watch here for more info.
The pillows are from our book, Crazy for Pillows with 6 different pillow sleeves that can be changed for the seasons. It's my new favorite way to decorate!
The sequel to in the "Crazy" series is coming soon. Watch for pictures in the next few weeks.
This week's KT blog giveaway is a Sunflower Song charm pack. Comment here on your fall decorating favorites for a chance to win.
Pumpkins (tiny ones) on my windowsill and mums on my porch!
ReplyDeleteJust picked up pumpkins for the front porch this week. Already have my seasonal wall in the foyer decorated with a fall quilt, pumpkins and a scarecrow. Next comes the halloween decor-love to decorate for fall!
ReplyDeleteI love fall table runners with pieced leaves in rich crimsons, oranges, and golds.
ReplyDeleteI love how I can use fall colors and the darker oranges, just seems to make my house feel happier and peaceful.

I love decorating for fall. Using all the warm rich colors brings a little bit of Autumn to this Florida home :-)
ReplyDeleteHI, LOVE THIS COLLECTION! THANKS FOR SHARING A "CHARM"!
ReplyDeleteJOYOUS AUTUMN ! msstitcher1214@gmail.com
Love the Sunflower Song fabric line! Mini pumpkins, gourds and leaves all around! I absolutely love FALL! Love the cooler (but not cold) temperatures and the fall colors. Thanks for the chance to win. HUGS... and stitches
ReplyDeleteI love fall and your new Sunflower Song fabric line is a winner. Anything with the look of fall leaf colors is decorating my house. I have to admit that it lasts longer than just fall because fall colors are my favorites. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI usually have a grouping of pumpkins on the front steps and have 4-5 minis on my kitchen table on a fall runner.
ReplyDeleteI love mums, pumpkins and straw bales outside. Inside I have a grapevine pumpkin with lights. I have orange lights entwined with some fal leafy garlands on top of my antique armoire in the living room. I put sparkly leaves in flower arrangements.
ReplyDeleteJust picked up some pumpkins and mums yesterday to decorate the front steps. I would decorate more but I live right off a farm field and the wind is always blowing so can't have anything that is to lightweight.
ReplyDeleteLiving in the Kansas country.... I like using corn stalks and milo ....jmh
ReplyDeleteLove the fall colors of the trees and implement them in my sewing. Just added the fall border to the Grandmother's Flowergarden and have the fall table topper on the dining room table. Hope to get a few punpkins sewn too this year.
ReplyDeleteGreetings,
Sylvia
WOW, how exciting to be chosen last week for the winner of the Sunflower Song fabrics! What a lovely name for a beautiful fabric collection. My favorite flower, Sunflower!
ReplyDeleteThank You SEW MUCH!! Does this collection have any extra wide backing fabric?
I don't really have much for fall to decorate. I love your pumpkin stack and your quilt. Thanks for your encouragement to think about decorating for fall. K- lkw2x6-apq@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI am really into leaves for decorating. Fall leaves, in all their majesty, bring my favorite season indoors. Add a few pumpkins from our gardent and lots of love from the grandchildren and we are pushing back the time when the first snow starts to drift across our driveway. Love the Sunflower Song collection!
ReplyDeleteI just love your Crazy for Pillows book that you mention in the blog. Can't wait to see what the your upcoming pillow book has in store.
ReplyDeleteSince all your color collections are reminiscent of fall, I am always ready for my favorite season.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving quilts for my two quilt racks that I change out for the different seasons. I also have the pumpkins Longaberger had available a few years back. They can stay out all fall until Christmas decorations are put up.
ReplyDeleteLove crisp Autumn days. And the changing colours of the leaves. We don't do Fall here for n England as you in America. But love all the pumpkins. And your lovely quilts
ReplyDeleteThe pillows look lovely. I change out my wall hangings, table runners, place mats, and bring out a few glass items to hold the treats.
ReplyDeleteI have a fall birdhouse stand all decked out in fall leaves that goes on front porch. I use several fall themed table toppers on end tables and dining table. Tons of fall leaves, candles, all thru house. Kitchen fall towels too, can you tell I LOVE fall?
ReplyDeleteI love the colors of autumn. Aside from Christmas, I don't change any decorating throughout the year except during autumn. I have pillows and table toppers and pumpkins and scarecrows that I set out all over the house. And I make something new each year because I just love autumn colors.
ReplyDeleteI decorate with both pumpkins and mums - love the rich colors you can get and mix together
ReplyDeleteI decorate outside with pumpkins, lots of mums and Indian corn. So great to put all the fall bright colors outside to enjoy before the snow falls.
ReplyDeleteLove your decorations. I can't wait to make that quilt with Quiltmaker. The colors are so restful.
ReplyDeleteI like to put different color mums on the front steps and a leafy wreath on the front door.
ReplyDeleteI love your fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI love this time of year, but I have to go out of state to get a leaf fix. We don't get much of an Autumn here in FL, I have a fall quilt I hang on the wall and sentimental fall decorations that friends have made for me over the years.
ReplyDeleteI love the this time of year, sunflowers. pumpkins, mums, decorating with fall fabrics, and planning the quilt projects that will keep me busy during the winter.
ReplyDeleteHalloween then Thanksgiving decor at this house. My daughter reminded me yesterday to get out my "spooky" things.
ReplyDeleteSadly enough, most of my outside Fall decorations are the leaves that fall from the trees! I did plant some mums this year and am waiting anxiously for them to bloom.
ReplyDeleteFall colors are my favorite so it's fun to dig out my quilts, table toppers and runners for the season. I decorate everywhere including the bathrooms with pumpkins, garland, flower arrangements...you get the picture, I love Fall!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI use artificial pumpkins and fall decorations on my mantel because I don't like trying to clean up the pumpkin stains. :) Fall colors are my absolute favorites along with the cool, crisp mornings!
ReplyDeleteI put out lots of fall decorations that I have collected thru the years...one of which is a MACRAME owl that I made sew long ago!! Does anyone else remember doing macrame? It was fun to do! I love the new fabric collection. T2mcgreer at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteLove pulling out my Halloween wall hangings! Boo!
ReplyDeleteMumpkins! I love the idea of that, but I agree that buying mums already planted is the way to go. I don't think I've ever seen a pumpkin I didn't want to take home, and I hate to have to throw them away. My other fall favorite decoration is colored leaves. I love to put baskets of them everywhere and wind the garlands through everything. Squirrels tend to decorate our patio with horse chestnut shells. I don't appreciate those at all!
ReplyDeleteThe first thing I got out for fall was my table cover in autumn colors and filled my antique wooden bowl with the harvest favorites of fall.
ReplyDeleteI love fall decorations, I wish I could be as creative as you. I just buy a few mum's and have them on our patio. Lovely quilts.
ReplyDeleteThis year I am loving white pumpkins. Your pumpkin stack on the porch is wonderful--I am stealing that idea!!
ReplyDeleteI decorate with a fall table cloth and curtains and with dried flowers, grasses, etc. Thanks!
ReplyDeletePlease click on the delaineelliott above for my email link.
I love those miniature pumpkins! And of course gather leaves and scatter them indoors on tabletops.
ReplyDeleteI love to us Autumn themed runners and placemats as well as a big bouquet of branches full of lovely leaf colours.
ReplyDeleteFall colored leaves and pumpkins....my favorite decorations. I put them on the porch as well as in the house. Fall is my favorite time of year because of the temps.
ReplyDeleteLynne, the front of your shop looks wonderful! Fall is my absolute favorite time of the year, and I love to decorate with pumpkins, homemade table runners, sunflowers in an antique milk pitcher, etc. :)
ReplyDeleteI love to pull out throws for my couches and I would love to make a few quilted pillows. The Sunflower Song prints and gorgeous and the perfect colors for fall. Sharon Bolderson slbolderson@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteI love getting all the warm quilts out in lovely autumn colours, makes the house look nice and cozy.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that mini barn raising quilt! Looking forward to the videos! :-) I decorate with mums (no pumpkins, because the squirrels make a mess of them)... and, of course, fall colored/themed quilts! And, don't forget the burlap wreath on the front door... lol!
ReplyDeleteFall theme quilts, pumpkins, acorn wreath and leaves are what you see at my house now. I, too, have just put away the red, white, and blue--where did the summer go? Love your mumumkin!
ReplyDeleteI love mum plants.
ReplyDeleteI decorate my whole house for fall! Mums & pumpkins on the porch, and swags, autumn flowers, pumpkins & my favorite fall candles in the house! I already made pumpkin pies! I love Fall!!!
ReplyDeleteLast Thursday I was in your "neck of the woods" searching for some information on my ancestors, but did not have the time to stop and give you some of my money for exchange of some of your fabric :)
ReplyDeleteI had forgotten how beautiful that part of Kansas is !!
Mum ,,, the best part of fall for me. ~ Lisa in MO

I have my pumpkins, mums, candles, acorns, quilts, table runners, pillows and some cute witches decorating my great room and kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI too love the season but will have to wait a while longer here in SO. CA.
Enjoyed your decor and ideas.
Charlotte
The warmth of the colors of fall is what I love to decorate with! Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteI enjoy the reds, golds, and deep greens of the leaves, and a variety of bumpy, warty gourds and small pumpkins. Saw one today that grew with black (or a very, very dark green) that had crept up from the bottom to cover about half of the bottom of the vibrant orange hand-sized pumpkin. And we can't forget the autumn foods: apples, butternut squash, pumpkin soup, pecans.... Autumn has it's own freshness complete with cooler temps!
ReplyDeleteI ams so excited because I'm decorating with your new sunflower charm quilt...as soon as it's finished! I'm new to applique, so wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI love to decorate w/ a few corn stalks, and Cinderella and Fairy Pumpkins and of course some quilts! thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love you fall decorations, especially the pumpkin wreath. Looks great with KT fabrics!
ReplyDeleteHi Lynne. How can we your layered patchwork method, please? Thanks.
