KT Winner
Robert & I are on the road so I won't be posting the winner this week. I apologize that my blogging skills are limited on my iPad in a motel. Watch for all the January blog winners in February.
Get Your Brights On!
It's been a bit gloomy and gray here over the last few weeks. Pretty normal for Kansas in winter. This weather inspires me to pull out some happy, bright fabrics and make something fun for one of the grandaughters. Here are a few things I've made in the past with them in mind - or for those of you who live with brights in your homes. My layered patchwork technique works well with any colorway. We especially love Me & My Sister's line of cheerful prints. We even have a corner of the store dedicated to their fabric. Can't wait for the newest line to arrive!
BottomLtoR - Twisted/ 2Bits, 4Bits/ Zigzag Runner/ Twirls & Swirls (all KTQ) and Slice of Cake by Me & My Sister |
2Bits, 4Bits from Loose Change by KTQ |
Delainey's Twirls & Swirls from Layers of Love by KTQ |
The Zigzag runner is also from Layers of
Love. The small doll quilt in the upper right corner is the make-do
quilt using leftovers and parts cut out from 2Bits, 4Bits.
We have kits for all of these projects in Barb & Mary's brights. This week, their Slice of Cake pattern with 2 options is our giveaway to add a little sunshine to your dreary winter days. Comment here about your favorite color palettes to win.
Blues and yellows are my favorites. I love Me & My Sister lines when I want to sew with brights.
ReplyDeleteI love blues and greens. Thanks for this post. It made me start thinking about spring even though it's 30 degrees outside.
ReplyDeleteOrange and yellow are my "Brights" favorites. Hope you are staying safe on the road! Ice. is. not. my. friend!!! HUGS... and stitches
ReplyDeleteI love all brights, they make my day.
ReplyDeleteI love aquas and reds which is why I am a big fan of Bonnie and Camille and Lori Holt!
ReplyDeleteEven though I generally pick a darker palette to work with I love the brights too. I think lime greens and oranges are some of my favorites...throw back to the 70's I think!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite color palette is almost always a dark civil war based selection, especially purples, pinks and poison greens!
ReplyDeleteI like blues and greens, really all colors.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I like brights and go for Barb and Mary's fabrics and other times I love browns and greens. Terri
ReplyDeleteBlues and greens are really pulling me in their direction right now! With Orange right behind them:)
ReplyDeleteI have come to love red & purple together! HUH? What? Yup! ☺
ReplyDeleteMy favorite colors seem to be all those colors you include in your fabric lines. I love those deep rich reds, your greens, blues and Browns.
ReplyDeleteI love KT colors, especially the light blues you used in Wildflower Seranade. i have a group of about 10 people who are my KT addict posse. There are three quilt shops within an hour of my house which are doing their Saturday sampler. I'm enrolled in two. I'm going to be busy!
ReplyDeleteIt is so different to see your patterns in those bright, cheery colors. It shows the versatility of your patterns. I like the bright colors especially for a child's quilt. For me. I still love your primitive color palette of the greens, golds, rusts and blues. They will always be my favorites.
ReplyDeleteI've always been drawn towards the reds and browns and blues...basically all things KTQ fabrics! Me and My Sister fabrics and fun and cute for baby quilts! :)
ReplyDeleteThat should be an easy question to answer, right? Your favorite color palette? But I don't know. I see combinations of colors I would never have considered, and I think they're beautiful. And I want to sew with them. I think that's one reason I make charity quilts. I get to use a lot of colors and styles that don't necessarily fit into my home, but I love creating with them. So I get the joy of sewing patterns or colors that aren't necessarily my palette, and I'm able to give the quilt away to someone who I hope will find as much joy in having the quilt as I had in creating it.
ReplyDeleteI tend to use darker palettes, like your KT fabrics and repros. Now that I have two grand kids I do use lighter fabrics for their quilts so it is wonderful seeing your patterns done in the light bright fabrics.
ReplyDeleteCertainly does bring some bright and happy in! :)
ReplyDeleteThose colors are so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteIn brights I like blues and lime green. However, can't wait to see you this evening at Gold Coast Quilter's Guild in Boca Raton and take two classes with you on Wednesday and Thursday!
ReplyDeleteI tend to gravitate towards the darker colors but I am branching out as I am collecting bright fabrics so I can make a bright quilt for spring and summer. Thanks for the great giveaway and have safe travels.
ReplyDeleteIf I am going to sew with brights I like Fig Tree colors.
ReplyDeleteWhen I do bright i like blues and greens. Yellow for my daughter as that is her favorite color.
ReplyDeleteI like the Me and My Sisters Prints but my favorite are the earthtones I farm and love all the earthy colors that I see from my tractor By the way have you started on your line of Prairie Weeds line ? We saw a wooden box at Arthur that gave you the idea
ReplyDeleteIt'll be Spring or Fall 2019 for Prairie Weeds. I've already sent in most lines for 2018. You'll see it first here!
DeleteI enjoy sewing for project linus.witch means I love color the brighter the better.. lol happyness04431@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen these fabs. Thanks. Brights look good on this cloudy day in GA. Hope your weather across the states is not too bad.
ReplyDeleteI tend to work with the darker colors of or similar to Kansas Troubles. But occasionally I use brighter colors and have been pleased with the outcomes.
ReplyDeleteMy husband just told me that I make everything in browns! I think I will be changing my color choices up a bit. I love teal so that will be my go to for awhile.
ReplyDeletePurple and teal and a touch of red
ReplyDeleteI love a darker look but the brights are really starting to catch my eye. I have fabric for Delaney's Swirls and Twirls in brights just need to get it started.
ReplyDeleteI love that you changed it up with the brightsk...but I am way more a Kansas Troubles person. ps barb and Mary's blog is a hoot! jmh
ReplyDeleteI like blues mixed with creams.
ReplyDeleteI love Reproduction prints & darker colors. I do like to get out my brights out on occasion to work with a different grouping. Thankfully I have a few nieces I can sew quilts for.
ReplyDeleteI tend to go more for the colors in reproduction fabrics, but I still like the pastels of Me and My Sister and I have both of their 3 Times the Charm books.
ReplyDeleteLoved your presentation last evening at the Gold Coast Quilt Guild. Your technique is awesome and I can't wait to try it! Hope you and Robert have a fantastic cruise.
ReplyDeleteBy commenting, am I included in the drawing or is there another way to enter?
I love primitive decorating so I love browns, dark reds, blue and mustard colors. But I also like blue and white quilts too.
ReplyDeleteI love Brackman and Thompson's Victoria's Crown, Brannock and Patek No place like home...repro fabrics, and Kaffe Fassett.
ReplyDeleteI love your patterns. It is good to see some examples in the brighter colors that I love. When I lived in Ohio I loved the more primative colors, but now that I have gotten older the brighter ones make me happy. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI have about 5 unfinished projects. My daughter is a 'finisher" and she motivates me!
