KT & Friends Retreat Project
We're so excited to be hosting two KT & Friends Retreats this summer. The first one is in Bennington, Kansas, home of Kansas Troubles Quilters, June 17-20. We'll take over our local school for four days of workshops, trunk shows and lots of fun. Jenny Doan, of Missouri Star Quilt Co, and Barb Groves & Mary Jacobsen, of Me and My Sister Designs, will join me for the weekend. The guys who have our backs, Ron and Robert. |
Wondering what you'll be making? Here's a peek at my computer generated version of Summer Sampler lap quilt (we're working on the quilt now with brand new fabric!). I'll share my Layered Patchwork method for simplifying star points and flying geese, but you're welcome to traditionally piece your project, if you prefer. We'll also be making a quick Mini Table Treat in a seasonal design. Watch throughout the week for sneak peeks from my fellow Moda designers to see what they'll be sharing with you.
If you're interested in information about KT & Friends Retreats now, or in the future, contact our KT Event Coordinator, Kathy Limpic at krlimpic@gmail.com or call 816-377-9699 between 10am and 5pm Monday-Friday.
How do you retreat? With a few friends at a location close to home? On your own traveling to wherever inspiration strikes? Let me know how you retreat to win a new Through the Years charm pack, available at your favorite quilt shop in March.
Through the Years - Win a Charm Pack! |
My very first quilt retreat was out in San Diego in September 2018 with you and Jenny Doan! This very nervous, very beginner quilter was hooked! I came home with a $3000 sewing machine and a new found love for everything Kansas Troubles!! After that it was Bennington Kansas in June 2019 and now again upcoming here in 2020. So I guess I am more of a get up and go where ever and whenever I can!
ReplyDeleteCarol, So fun to hear your story! And, happy you'll be with us again this summer. See you in June!
DeleteI have done close to home with a friend or two! Tks!!
ReplyDeleteI used to go to a friend's house in Chicago for a group retreat but that has stopped do to life and job changes. Now I stay at home and retreat in my own. 😊
ReplyDeleteSandy A
I go to a friend's house. Going to an actual retreat is on the list of things to do when I retire
ReplyDeleteI retreat with fellow quilt guild members in my home town. We do a 3 day retreat in February, June, and October.
ReplyDeleteI've never been on a retreat, but every wednesday my quilting buddies and I do a mini-retreat at each other's homes. So look forward to our time together and the yummie dessert we serve with tea! Kansas Troubles is my favorite fabric ... thank you for everything you do!
ReplyDeleteStay close to home three times a year for three days in March, July, and November. An away retreat is on my wish list!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do a retreat but haven't because the cost is too much on my retirement income. I do quilt alongs online instead.
ReplyDeleteJust got back! 8 of us have went to a weekend B & B for years. This I think was 15. Gourmet food & stitching all weekend, so much fun!
ReplyDeleteA quilt retreat sounds like a fabulous but expensive experience! Maybe someday. But for now, I'm content to find a few hours in an afternoon and do a little more sewing : )
ReplyDeleteI have been to one overnight retreat with my small informal quilt group. I would love to attend a large retreat but work sure gets in my way. It is on my bucket list to do this in a few years. Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteThe only retreat I've ever been to was only about 45 minutes away from home with my besties in my Bee. I had a great time, but for me it is cost prohibitive most of the time. I would really love to go to Hamilton or Bennington to see both of you fabulous ladies, but it will probably never happen.
ReplyDeleteI have never been on a retreat before as I am on a tight budget, but it's on my bucket list. Thanks for the opportunity to win this fun fabric.
ReplyDeleteI've not ever been able to attend a retreat. My retreats are spending the day with a friend who also loves to quilt.
ReplyDeleteMy very first retreat EVER was KT & Friends in June 2019! Can't wait to go back in June 2020! I travel by myself, but made a few friends at the last retreat who are also returning this year. Can't wait!!
ReplyDeleteThe closest I have gotten to a retreat, is when I get the chance to go to my sewing room for an entire day. It's on my bucket list to do one with you and Lisa someday.
ReplyDeleteI retreat with six quilting friends a couple of times a year. We take turns hosting for single day and multiple day gatherings.
ReplyDeleteI have a retreat on my bucket list for after I retire.. until then, a class at the local quilt shop is the closest I come.
ReplyDeleteMy guild does two retreats a year at a retreat center. It's a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely fabric! I started a retreat 17 years ago for Dear Jane Quilters. After that diminished, it's just become a great time to get to together w/about 34 ladies & just sew & sew!
ReplyDeleteI've never been on a retreat before. The closest thing for me has been getting together with my childhood friend who loves to sew. She goes on a retreat once a year so who knows, maybe I'll be going one of these days!
ReplyDeleteI love to retreat with a good friend of mine. We attended your first retreat last summer and we had a blast. Now we do our own "Quilt Days". We quilt and then break for lunch and then we quilt some more. So much fun!
ReplyDeleteI retreat with my local quilt guild 3 to 4 times a year. I also retreat with local friends 2 times a year and then I retreat with quilters that I have met on-line. I have traveled several states with them. Love retreats!
ReplyDeleteNever been on a retreat, too expensive for me I am afraid so I quilt quite happily on my own at home :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time to sew is at a retreat. I get so much done!!! Of course my all time favorite was the cruise with you and Jenny. See you in Appleton.
ReplyDeleteI have never been on a retreat but it sounds fun. I think I would like to do a retreat close to home if I could.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Lisa, who first showed me how to quilt, comes to visit and helps me with my quilts-in-progress. She and I talk about quilts and fabric, she gives me honest advice, and when our visit is over I am excited and ready to get going!
ReplyDeleteI've gone on retreats with a group of stitching friends twice a year. We have a blast!!!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I went to a quilting retreat, I went with my sister and a very good friend of ours. We had a great time with lots of sewing. We were only gone 3 days, but got things done!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lynne for always inspiring me with your designs and fabrics! Thank you for offering the fabric giveaway.
I have been to quilting retreat on my own but mostly I enjoy weekly get togethers with a few friends
ReplyDeleteI retreat at least twice a year, once away from home and once locally where I am at "camp" and go home to my own bed every night. Both are sponsored by my quilt guild, Gold Coast Quilters Guild of Boca Raton, FL. We have 50 quilters at each and have a great time!
ReplyDeleteI retreat usually with LOTS of friends from guild. Anywhere from 10 - 25!!! Love retreats and love your fabric lines.
ReplyDeleteI have never been on a retreat but each week I "retreat" with my quilting buddies to sew at a local shop!!!
ReplyDeleteWe go to Texas for the winter, we have a group of ladies who quilt together. It's like being on a 6 month retreat. Then the end of February we have a quilt show.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to go to a retreat but have not yet had the pleasure.I don't think we have many here in FL. I do sew with a group of wonderful friends every other Friday. BTW your fabric and designs are my absolute favorite.
ReplyDeleteI have never done a retreat, but I'd love to! I need to save up my pennies!
ReplyDeleteOur group of seven likes to retreat in a LQS close to home for a few nights twice each year.
ReplyDeleteThree times a year I retreat with friends to the mountains about three hours away. I also host day retreats for a few quilting friends in my home. It's great fun!
ReplyDeleteLynne- I very rarely go to retreats but I do travel when there is an instructor that I want to have teach me- hopefully I can make another one of your retreats- Love KT!!!
