July Winner

Good grief! I forgot to post the winner of the July giveaway. The August contest took over and my brain switched gears without me realizing - unfortunately, that happens more often than I'd like. Deb from Nebraska is our winner of the 5 new KT Stash Society projects. Quilt shops will be using them in their programs from Sept. thru Dec, so Deb has a head start! Congrats! Check out the list of participating shops at ktquilts.com to sign up and get them for yourself.

The August contest went so quickly, what will we talk about the rest of the month? How about another giveaway? I still have lots of KT Favorites, so comment here about your favorite KT collection so far and we'll draw at the end of the month for a KT Fav Jelly Roll! Wahoo! I'd love to know what your favorites are and why. Helps me plan for the future. I was just digging thru a pile of vintage fabric the other day, wondering about next year's collections. Any suggestions? Do you like autumn colors the best? Black vs. brown? Darker or lighter background tans? Can always use your input.

Thanks ladies,
Lynne

  1. Oooh, my favorite is "Bound to the Prairie". I was homesick (Nebraska girl), visiting a quilt shop in Ft. Collins, Colorado, and saw the quilt all made up in the store. I fell head over heels and was hooked! Every time I use/see my quilt, I have the fondest memories of growing up, spending time on the farm with my grandparents, and enjoying a much simpler time. Autumn colors draw my eye the most when it comes to a collection: gold, brown, cranberry, green, navy, tan. Thank you for your wonderful designs and beautiful fabrics.

  3. I like Summer's End, but all of them are gorgeous. I love the rich colors you use.

  4. Oh goodness Lynne, it's hard to say what has been my favorite KT collection. One that I absolutely fell in love with was Stitches on the Oregon Trail. I have to say that I really really liked Prairie Moon as well. My favorite all time colors to work with are Fall colors. I like a medium tan for backgrounds best , but really they all look nice when combined.

  5. Bound to the Prarie is my hands-down favorite!

  6. While I love Bound to the Prarie as it was my first exposure to KT, I really love the Cranberry Wishes for the richness of all the colors used. I do like the warm/medium tans for backgrounds best.

I sure would like to know where your Summer's End pillow pattern is located so I may purchase it either in its book form or in a kit form. LOVE it!! Thanks :)

  7. My favorite collection is Wildflower Serenade (both I and II). Currently I like the colors of brown, aqua-ish blue, and green. My mother just made a tattered pioneer quilt and the fabric that really makes it pop happens to be a larger scale bright homespun plaid in a medium aqua. Just a few touches brings out all the nuances of the browns. I like warm golden tans. A little red, orange, or purple thrown in looks great. As you know, collections need the variety of dark, light and medium values; larger and smaller prints; and focal fabrics with blenders. I lean towards the medium scale print sizes in focal fabrics. There were 4 collections in the list that I couldn't remember so didn't send an email! So, maybe this one will be a lucky post.

  8. Hi Lynne - I would have to say Garden Inspirations is my favorite - but I like them all! Bound to the Praire was a close second. I'm into dark, muted colors and then I love all the goldens that match - I'm not too floral-ly so dots and images are great. Thanks for taking time to do a blog! I'm a Kansas Troubles girl and now have my older sister hooked too!

  9. Very hard to decide but I think I'd have to choose Bound to the Prairie too. It just speaks to me. As for new lines~ well I just love autumn and the rich golds and cranberries.

  10. My favorite is Bound to the Prairie--no, Wildflower Serenade I--wait, Summer's End. It's so hard to chose!! If I must choose one, I would have to say Bound to the Prairie since I'm another ex-Nebraska girl and it was my first exposure to KT. I've made several quilts fromt he Wildflower Serenade fabrics though and love them all. Any fabric in autumn colors finds its way into my stash--love all those golds and deep reds and oranges.

  12. My favorite KT line is whatever is out at the time....right now is Summer's End. I have a project lined up using Wildflower Serenade 1 and 2, am doing a layer cake BOM using Garden Inspirations. Loved Bound to the Prairie and Vine Creek also. Need I go on! The great plums, teals, and blacks are great color additions. I do think a line of lighter fabrics that we could use as background fabrics would be a great addition to your already beautiful collections. Other than that.....what's not to love about any of your collections?

  13. I love the wine colors, soft greens and blues and browns.

  14. I love the color selections you always make. I'm a fall color person, blue, brown, tan, burgundy. Summers End is my favorite now, but have liked many in the past.

  15. I love Summer's End and Butterfly Garden. I love the bittersweet color (18) in SE, and the kind of purply-lt red in Butterfly Garden. Also love paisleys. I like the lighter backgrounds so everything else stands out. Also would like to see more blacks.

  16. I love Kansas Winter. And some of the Butterfly Garden prints and Summer's End prints I'm just crazy about. But I'm such a sucker for plaid that I think my fave might be the Classic Plaids.

My suggestion would be to use brown instead of black if you're trying to decide. Brown is very trendy right now. But I agree with ytsmom -- black is so classic, and I would like to see more.

  17. Hi,

Right now I love Butterfly Garden and KT's Favorites. I agree with a few of the earlier comments, how about a few lighter fabrics?

I'm fond of blue (navy not aqua), cranberry red, tan, brown, and dark green. How about adding a bit more orange for Halloween or red/green for the Christmas holiday season?

  20. That is a tough one, I love all of them. I do tend to have favorites in each line though. If I had to pick, I really like the new wrapped in paisley, that would make a gorgeous quilt for my bedroom. I was looking for something in richer colors like that, with prints to make a comforter.

  21. Oh my gosh...how do I pick a favorite? I suppose that Bound to the Prairie is up there at the top, but I also loved Vine Creek too, oh my goodness, I've loved them all! We just got Summers End in the shop (Craft Warehouse in Vancouver Washington) and what can I say, I love it too, I think it would be wonderful if you did a line of blacks and coordinating neutrals, they always blend so well into a quilt and coming from you I have no doubt that they will be beautiful!

  23. I'm loving Summer's End, but that's like asking which is your favorite child. Love the colors in your fabrics! I love autumn colors. I love brown over black. Tan over a darker background. Looking forward to KT Favs! That's great news!

  24. I'm a softee for Vine Creek. I find the tans/golds in the pattern are very mellow and forgiving when matching different fabrics. (hmmm does that mean the quilt police are going to be called? :) I love browns, not just in the fall, and sometimes it's really hard to find rich browns that don't fall flat in depth.

  25. Right now my favorites are Wrapped in Paisley and Garden Inspirations, I like more tans and browns than black. I'd like to see some lighter tans for the background and some more purples and maybe some orange, but I love the greens, browns, blues, and darker reds.

  26. How could I forget about Simply Indigo! Absolutely loved that line. I made 2 quilts from that line and would make another if I could find the fabric.

  27. Summer's End is my favorite. But they're all beautiful! The rich colors really sing to me.

  32. I love the Wildflower Serenade fabrics because of the shades of blue in the prints--I am totally a "blue" person! I saw the Summer's End fabrics yesterday at my local quilt shop and they are yummy too.

  33. I am totally in love with your new Summer's End fabric and quilt pattern! I first noticed the quilt from online phots of the last quilt market, it's just beautiful! I'm drawn to fall colors, lighter background tans, even the classic shirting fabric used as backgrounds. Hope this helps :)

  38. Vine Creek I dearly loved, almost as much as Summer's End--adore the stone and squiggles fabric! Tans, golds, greens, red, blue in those lovely mid to deep tones are wonderful. Brown, definitely, over black. Good luck with your inspirations. Maybe that brunch photo will help, LOL!

  39. I really like Wildflower Serenade I and II; also think it would be nice if you could come out with some lighter background fabrics for those of us who like to use your fabrics. It is always hard to find one because of your tans being so rich in color; but don't change those...I love them!!
