Welcome to the countdown to Christmas! Warm Memories is all about setting aside a little time leading up to December 25th to spend with family and friends. The season is too full of love and goodwill to cram into just one day. Take a little time each day to make a memory. Our Feather Tree Advent Calendar does just that. We created an ornament and activitiy for each day from Dec. 1-24th to help you get started. The ornaments may be stitched from a Warm Memories charm pack or wool.
The lap quilt has the ornaments stitched on for a cozy throw to wrap yourself in the holiday spirit.
Our Simply Runer is just that - an easy checkerboard design for the ends allows you to make the runner any length you need to fit your table or serving space perfectly.
The Warm Memories charm pack pattern was fun to make with a variety of fused/raw edge ornaments surrounding a pieced center. The winner of this week's charm pack will also receive BOTH of these patterns!

Be sure to comment here to win! What's your favorite Christmas tradition? Are you starting an new tradition this year? I'd love to hear about it.
Our favorite Christmas tradition is going to our church's Christmas Eve Children's Service, having a simple supper of cheese, fruit, and cookies, leaving notes/cookies for Santa, and trying to sleep!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the "Warm Memories"! It's so hard to keep up traditions when the family grows up and they are far away. My favorite time at Christmas is Christmas night when everyone is asleep, the kitchen is cleaned and I can sit in the living room with, in the dark, with only the tree lights glistening and just reflect on all my loved ones and what a blessing they are ~ even if I hadn't spent time with them on this Christmas Day.
ReplyDeleteAs our family grows, moves, expands and wanders we will continue to make the time to gather. My favorite tradition.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is the family baking day - cookies, pies and cakes. We have such fun. No new traditions are planned....then again one never knows what will evolve!
ReplyDeleteI love the feather advent tree. Beautiful!
I love the idea of taking time for family during this time as this seems to get missed during the season.
ReplyDeleteLove the quilts!
Jennifer
One of our Christmas traditions was going to the local Hallmark store to have our son select a new ornament for the tree. For many years, the new ornament he chose was a Star Wars themed one. I plan on giving him those ornaments when he starts a family of his own so that he can continue the tradition.
ReplyDeletePat F. in Jamestown, NY
My favorite memories are making Christmas cookies with my son. Last year I made sugar cookies with his 2 year old son .... what fun!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea that Simply Runner can be made whatever size you need.
Our favorite tradition is going to the forest to cut down a tree. It's always a lot of fun to tramp around outside and try and settle on a tree.
ReplyDeleteWhen the kids were home, it was getting out the advent calendar and taking turns through the month opening a door or moving an ornament. And setting up the Nativity scene and waiting until Christmas morning to put the baby Jesus in the manger. Now our family is in transition -- our children are grown and married, and there are new grandbabies each year so we're watching as new traditions evolve and are made. And quite frankly, that's pretty enjoyable, too. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is all of the quality time spent with family. Having grandchildren around for the holidays is just the best. There is nothing more fun than seeing Christmas through their eyes. It's very comforting to see the traditions you had as your children were growing up now being done with your grandchildren. Kind of the "full circle" thing.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I always enjoy the cookie making and giving to friends and neighbors. I like the tablerunner a lot. Thanks for the chance to win the charms.
ReplyDeleteMary
My favorite tradition is baking the Christmas cookies. I start on Black Friday (no insane shopping for me) and continue right up to Christmas. My kids would disown me if I didn't make cookie platters for them each year.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is decorating cut out sugar cookies with the children. Growing up, I had an aunt that always had the children over for cookie decorating and we have continued that tradition with our children and grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteWe watch White Christmas every year without fail. I think even the dogs now know all the songs.
ReplyDeleteWe have a Christmas morning brunch for our parents. We attend mass on Christmas eve.
ReplyDeleteI already have a charm pack of Warm Memories and it's lovely, another one would stop it being lonely. I always have to watch Scrooge I don't mind which one it is old or new, when I am watching this I know it's Christmas.... Linda x
ReplyDeleteBoth my girls get a new Christmas tree ornament on Christmas eve. They have now left home and each have a Christmas tree full of beautiful ornaments that we have picked up in our travels. My poor tree looks rather bare now!
ReplyDeleteConny B from Red Deer, AB
Oyster stew/soup on Christmas eve is a long-standing family tradition.
ReplyDeleteOur favorite Christmas tradition is reenacting the first Christmas. We have lots of little granddaughters- sometimes we have more than one Mary:-)
ReplyDeleteIt's all about family and food and sharing. Crab Louis on Christmas Eve is a tradition.
ReplyDeleteThe best tradition for me was baking cookies with my son and daughter. We decorated sugar cookies every Christmas. I miss those times now that they are grown. When I see my grandsons for the first time, I hope to bake cookies with them.
ReplyDeleteIt's not Chritmas without a very specific coffee cake for Christmas morning breakfast! I can (and have) gone without a tree or stockings, but I've made my coffee cake every year, no matter where we lived.
ReplyDeleteI guess our favorite Christmas tradition is gathering with my hubby's family on Christmas eve. It's a party where extended family gets together for fun, food and fellowship.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is getting together with my family for dinner, singing Christmas carols and exchanging gifts. This year, we have a new granddaughter-- which will make the holiday even more special!
ReplyDeleteI love the Warm Memories Advent calendar and the ornament throw!! Beautiful!!! :-)
I am loving, loving, loving all three of your projects. My favorite tradition is that on Christmas Eve I put a Babyberry candle in the window to light the way for the Christ Child. My mother used to do this, she passed away when I was ten, but I still remember.
ReplyDeleteWhen my daughter was small we started a tradition of setting up our nativity but leaving Joseph, Mary, and Jesus out of it. Instead, they would start a journey from somewhere in the room (minus Jesus, who wasn't born yet) and each day we'd read some of the story of Jesus' birth, and Emily would move Joseph and Mary closer to the manger, until on Christmas Eve they would finally arrive. The next morning baby Jesus would be in the manger.
ReplyDeleteI love your simple checkerboard runner, and was looking on your website for the pattern, but I don't see it available. Will you have it for sale soon? Thanks so much!
Our Christmas traditions are similar to most, a special reading of the Christmas Story on Christmas Eve, with opening of gifts on Christmas Morn, followed by a big Christmas Dinner at noon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
My favorite Christmas tradition is mimosas and Hostess rasberry filled jelly-o donuts on Christmas morning. We started this about 20 years ago, and my daughter still looks forward to it. Next favorite is filling Christmas stockings with the perfect little goodies. This takes some time, but it is so much fun to see the faces as everyone empties their stockings.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful fabrics and cute patterns! When my kids were small we always took time on Christmas eve to read "Polar Express" and have cookies and hot chocolate.
ReplyDeleteWe usually do a dinner on Christmas Eve and the kids were allowed to open one present, the one they got for each other. That way they could learn the gift of giving. It is also a nice quiet time for the family before the craziness of Christmas morning.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
OMGosh please pick me....I LOVE those patterns! And of course I always love your fabric :) In our family all us girls get together and bake for the whole day- about 15 hrs. We have a ball then the next day we take baked goods to our senior neighbors and church members. SWarren
ReplyDeleteI'm not going to feel in the holiday mood until it snows here. They are predicting it for today here in New York state.
ReplyDeleteLove the Advent Tree!!! We always have an Advent Calendar to count down the days till Christmas. This would be such a fun one to make!
ReplyDeleteI would like to make the Feather Tree Advent calendar for our home and my husband's tent that he shares with several other soldiers in Kuwait. That way our kids know Daddy has the same tree they do. Advent calendars are a fun tradition we do each year. May it be chocolates or toys, it's fun to countdown to Christmas day.Winning the charm pack would be so helpful. And I could make the pattern that comes along for a gift for someone else. Andrea L., an army wife in pa, Calif.
ReplyDeleteMy mother moved in with me this year, so I'm sure there will be some new traditions - and possibly the renewing of some old traditions. It'll be fun to see what transpires... I'll bet Angel Town comes back (a multitude of different ceramic angels - mostly antiques - standing among angel hair and tiny houses on the mantel). I grew up with angel town. A lovely memory. Can't wait.

We had a great family tradition of opening one gift from family on Christmas Eve. I remember when I was about 6 and we opened gifts and my Aunt wanted me to open hers. It was fishnet stockings and I burst into tears.... I wanted a toy. Great memories!
ReplyDeleteI of course love the fabric, but those patterns are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the tree. Each ornament carries a special memory of who and when it was gifted by... so I'd LOVE to be able to stitch up the Warm Memories piece with the charm pack! :-)
ReplyDeleteabout a week before Christmas, we ride around the area looking at all the yard decorations and lights. I love the patterns and fabrics
ReplyDeleteA favorite Christmas tradition if putting the tree up with my daughter along with buying a new ornament each year. Sometimes we've made one.
ReplyDeleteI like that runner and ornament quiltlette!
ReplyDeleteI'm ready to make changes for our gift giving! 3 of my 6 kids are married and between them, there are 10 grandkids....it's tough to keep up with buying something for everyone....don't know how we'll change things up; maybe do a family donation to charity instead of adding more stuff to our already full houses.
We make a traditional cookie and get together for decorating...my youngest girls don't want to miss that one! I've been doing it for close to 45 yrs!
I LOVE the topper with the ornaments around it!! My favorite Christmas tradition is the whole family going to church Christmas Eve and then home to grill (we live in MN so sometimes this happens in a snowstorm or temps well below 0)
ReplyDeleteStanding rib roast and Yorkshire pudding for Christmas Dinner - can't wait! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWe're spending Christmas with our first grandchild - so exciting! The designs are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition was my husband reading The Night Before Christmas to our boys when they were little. When he finished the story we'd get cookies and eggnog ready for Santa. The boys always added a carrot to the plate for Rudolph. :)
ReplyDeleteChristmas eve diner with the family, prime rib and lobster. We do not exchange gifts so this is our gift. Family, fun and good eats!
ReplyDeleteSandy
We get the BEST fresh round bread bowls from our local bakery (seriously delicious!) and fill them up with a thick soup that has been cooking on the stove all day long. Since we usually have snow that time of the year, it makes for a wonderful dinner as well as a yummy, cozy house on Christmas Eve.
ReplyDeleteLove the advent quilts! Our tradition is opening new PJ's on Christmas Eve
ReplyDeleteMy tradition has changed over the years, Lynne. When my daughters were small, Santa used to leave them special nightdresses or pyjamas, under the tree to wear to bed Xmas Eve, so he visited our house twice!! :)
ReplyDeleteNow I love watching carols by Candlelight on Xmas Eve, and hearing all of the lovely carols, especially O Holy Night. :)
My favorite Christmas tradition is our sit-down, all together, at the same time, breakfast. This is the only day in the whole year when this happens. When we are ready to begin opening presents, I put my 24-hour omelet in the oven. By the time we are finished, so is the omelet. Then we all sit down together and eat breakfast. I love that.
ReplyDeletei love my sisters and my bake and make gifts weekend! so much fun!
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite Christmas tradtions is taking a holiday picture of my kids and sending it in my Christmas cards. I've done it since they were very small, and now they range in age from 23 to 27, and have added in number daughters-in-law and a grandchild. Friends and family expect it and I often see the picture on other's refrigerators all through the year. One aunt has kept them all in order in an album.
ReplyDeleteWe started a new tradition last Christmas--brunch during the sunny part of the day instead of dinner in the evening. It worked great and was well received. The ornament quilt is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is going to my Grandmother on Christmas Eve. Cute quilts thanks for the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteWarm Memories is another lovely line of fabrics, and I also like the projects you show to go with them.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is decorating the tree, and I have used the same ornaments for 38 years of marriage...including the ones made by my (now grown) boys. Of course a few new ones have been added over time; but I love the memories with each one no matter how fancy or simple. I even still use a was Santa candle my dear Grammie bought for our first Christmas in our new home. It broke once, but I just melted some of the wax and stuck it back together lol.
Love the fabric... love the patterns and then idea of an advent calendar done in fabrics! Hand quilting a Christmas quilt as I write this. One of those UFO quilts. It will be ready for use this Christmas Season. And early Happy Holiday's to everyone!

Oh yeah,I love the Advent Calendar.( would love to buy the pattern). I love the quilts and the runner also . They would make a great Christmas gift. Our family tradition is having a pizza and wings party, while watching Christmas movies. Cori

Christmas traditions change over time. A pre-holidy tradition is when my son and I go Christmas shopping on Black Friday and enjoy all of the holiday hustle and bustle. He likes to get up for the night time sales and has a tradition of getting hot chocolate at Starbucks on his way home. Also enjoy Christmas coffee cake and coffee, tree lights before everyone else is up and active. Love your fabric choices. Lana
ReplyDeleteI love going to Christmas eve church service and then touring the Christmas lights in our neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely advent calendar. I made an advent calendar when my kids were little. I think it needs replacing as some of the pieces are lost. Favorite tradition? I too like the Christmas eve candlelight services. I don't know if my children would call it a tradition, but a favorite memory is sleeping in our sleeping bags around the Christmas tree at least one night during Christmas vacation.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is the extended family get-together - from my mother (the greatgrandmother) to my grandnieces (the greatgranddaughters) and everyone in between. My second favorite is setting out the nativity manger scene. Thanks for the giveaway of holiday charms.
ReplyDeleteAttending midnight mass and of course seeing what Santa brought on Christmas eve........janet
ReplyDeleteWe enjoy time at my mother-in-law's home with all the extended family who can be there. Before the gifts are opened, we have a musical extravaganza starting with the youngest child and going up in age. There are pianists, soloists, guitarists, trumpeters, and occasionally a harmonica, accordion, or other instrument. Then we sing Christmas carols and read the Christmas story. Love all the patterns!

Hello Lynna,
ReplyDeleteThis Christmas is going to be extra special. Our youngest daughter will be home after being away for a year, we missed her so much last Christmas.
It really is a special day to be with family.
happy days. The Christmas runners and advent project is beautiful.
Bev.xoxo
Hello Lynna,
ReplyDeleteChristmas is special to me ,because every year I can feel the joy while I'm decorating the tree, making my house warm and cousy. And last but nog least, thinking about the year gone by and be thankfull for my boys.
Warm greetings Marianne
When our son was born, we did a couple of years of packing up and going somewhere for Christmas dinner or brunch. Then my husband put his foot down. No going ANYWHERE. NO ONE comes over. Just the 3 of us. I absolutely love this. We stay in our PJ's (except my husband who has to go out to feed the cattle) and sometime in the middle of the afternoon, I make crab legs with butter. That's it. My favorite tradition. :-)
ReplyDeleteDinner and time with the family. That's my favorite tradition. Wish the ones that lived far away could join us but it's not possible. This year my folks (in their 80's) will not be going south so it will be nice to have them with us. Hard to believe the hoidays are just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteWonderful patterns. I love the ornaments! The one tradition that comes to mind is our Christmas stockings. The stockings were handmade and always filled to the brim with an orange, snacks little hand made gifts, tiny toys (Legos for our sons). Lots of thought to make each one individual and special. I made the mistake one year of thinking the boys had outgrown them and just do for the three grandchildren. Well, was I ever mistaken! There was more whining and gnashing of teeth from our thirty-somethings than ever could have been produced by toddlers. Lesson learned. Now our mantle sags with the weight of all family members being represented.
ReplyDeleteone of our traditions was actually on St. Nick's Day. the boys would put their shoes by the front door and the next day they would be filled with goodies. Of course it got spendier as they grew into young men...and continued to put their stinky shoes by the door! lol
ReplyDeleteGrowing up, we had traditions for every holiday -some of them really funny and all deeply meaningful. It seems that now, with family separated by distance and busy schedules, we don't have the chance to be consistent with those traditions! But, when we do have the opportunity to gather, we have a very happy, chaotic (with excited grandchildren) time together. One of my favorite things is giving each of my daughters something hand-made with love for the holidays!
ReplyDeleteOur children are all grown and live away from home but our tradition is to all gather at our house on Christmas Eve. They spend the night and get up in the morning to see what "Santa" brought.LOL Even those married bring the whole family for the occasion. Love it.
ReplyDeleteI love countdown calendars. I have more of them than people in our house! And it's fun to hear my kids "fight" over who gets to put up which nativity. (I also have more of those than people in the house. ha)
ReplyDeleteHaving come from a very small extended family, most of our Christmases were just Mom, Dad and us 4 girls. Really there were only 3 of us but my niece Vicky lived with us for years. We were a poor family but Mom tried hard to instill some traditions into us girls. Making Lep Cookies with Aunt Ellen and cousin Lucille, tons of Lep Cookies that we were still eating well into the New Year. The Aluminum Christmas Tree, wouldn't have been Christmas without it and the color wheel. I now have my own Aluminum Tree and color wheel to put up. Days spent making homemade candies, divinity, chocolate fudge with walnuts, peanut butter fudge, mints. I haven't had a good piece of divinity since Mom passed. I make it every year, it is good, but not like Mom's, how did she do that? Mom sewing endless hours at the machine to make us gifts since they had no money to buy them. I still follow this tradition and try to make most of my Christmas gifts. My favorite thing about Christmas has changed this year. My sister passed away Oct 17th after her battle with breast cancer. Christmas just won't be the same without her, she loved it probably the most of all of us. We spend Christmas Eve with our oldest son and grandson and will until he gets a bit older. It is so much fun to see his face Christmas morning. Christmas is the Love of Jesus, Family and Friends, Kindness, Forgiveness, Memories and Fun. Wishing everyone a Very Happy and Loving Christmas filled with good memories and family.
ReplyDeleteI have a personal tradition of visiting a Catholic Shrine that does a spectacular light display based on the true message of Christmas. There's always a huge crowd, and I love to hear the ooh's and aah's from all of us when the lights are turned on at dusk. Then I buy a hot chocolate and walk around to view the displays. I especially like it if there is a little snow on the ground.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite tradition is the Christmas Eve church service with family. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOur Christmas traditions have changed over the years as our family grows. But the one constant special tradition is midnight mass. There is just something so special about the silent and beauty of the night. Most especially if it happens to snow. Thanks for your generous giveaways.
ReplyDeleteLove those advent quilts - they look fun to make! Our tradition is opening a pair of new PJs on Christmas Eve - everyone looks so pretty in the pictures that are taken on Christmas Morning!
ReplyDeleteLove the patterns! My favorite traditions are watching the Grinch Who Stole Christmas and decorating the tree. I love to sit in the dark with the tree lit and watch the lights, while listening to Christmas music. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThese patterns are wonderful. I really like the quilt with the Christmas decorations all around the border. One of our Christmas traditions was that nobody could go down stairs until Mom checked to ensure Santa had arrived. Really, she had to make the tea for the adults. As children we would all sit at the top of the stairs and wait - extremely hard to do when you're young. We still do this but now it's Grandma making the tea. Dad also always got coal, onions and carrots in his stocking. He'd always make a big deal of it and us kids thought it very funny and would laugh each time he brought something out of his stocking. We really had a lot of fun and now Grandpa gets all the goodies!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to win these beautiful fabrics and wonderful patterns.
Baking cookies before, watching "It's a Wonderful Life" and "The Family Stone" during, and playing Monopoly into the wee hours of the morning with a growing group of friends and family after the Holidays. Beautiful patterns and thanks for the chance to win some neat fabrics.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite Christmas tradition is the Christmas eve gift, which is always cozy new pjs. Our traditional food on Christmas eve is tortiere served with mushroom gravy. Tortiere is a meat pie made with ground beef and veal or pork, beef consomme, onion and spices.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win some Christmas patterns. Christmas fabrics are the best! My favorite Christmas tradition is buying a real Christmas tree and decorating it will all our family ornaments... one dating back to my Dad's childhood in the 1920's.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is when the family gets together to hang all the ornaments on the tree. Every year I get a special one for each child to have for their own tree when they grow up and they love hanging "thier own" ornaments the best.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas tradition is the sharing of the oplatki wafers at Christmas eve dinner. It symbolizes forgiveness and the importance of family.
ReplyDeleteSpritz and sugar cookie cut outs - always!! Baking day is especially fun if it's lightly snowing outside.
ReplyDelete
