I'm pleased as punch to finally announce the arrival of 80 pages and 18 projects in KT's new book, Loose Change. We've featured precuts - Layer Cake 10" squares (dimes), Charm 5" squares (nickels) and NEW Mini Charm 2 1/2" squares (pennies) - in our layered patchwork technique to create fast, fun quilts with loads of dimension and personality.
Inspired by our popular Five & Dime quilt, many of the projects utilize the Five & Dime or Spare Change mini ruler for centering and cutting the blocks. This is how our layered patchwork technique makes your life (and making quilts) easier - simply center a charm square on a Layer Cake square, stitch close to the pinked edges, cut into fourths, and sew 4 different squares together. It's that easy!
Loose Change shows you how to layer, slice & stitch precuts more than a dozen different ways for Christmas, fall, everyday, 4th of July, kids and more!
Loose Change is available now at your local quilt shop or at ktquilts.com. This week, comment by Sunday night on your favorite precut for a chance to win one of 2 signed copies of Loose Change. I'd love to see what you choose to make!

I love charm packs, I am always amazed on how far they go!
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly an interesting method to try, maybe with nickel squares. As a machine quilting beginner, everything interests me.
ReplyDeleteHugs from France
I am having fun with the 2 1/2 pre-cuts. They are a fun size to sneek in a small project!!
ReplyDeleteI generally buy mostly Jelly Rolls and layer cakes. Charm packs just never seem to be enough fabric. Lovely book. Can wait to get my hands on a copy.
ReplyDeleteI'm anxious to try this technique with a charm pack and the minis.
ReplyDeleteI love to use Jelly Rolls, but I'm ready to expand to others!

ReplyDeleteI think charm packs are my favorite, I use they quite frequently.
ReplyDeleteI like jelly rolls. seems to be able to do alot. Lizzie
ReplyDeleteI love charm packs, have found tons of uses for them . Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI've used charm packs the most, but I'm enjoying the new mini charm packs for small quilt projects. Thank you for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteOh! I can't wait to see this book :-) I love the quilts pictured! I am currently enjoying using Sandhill Plum nickles (charm squares) that I keep having to buy more of for new projects. I'm using the church windows template and am set to make a tablecloth with it. Thank you so much for the giveaway. I would love to win :-)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy charm packs because I love making small quilts. All your new designs are awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love charm packs because they're affordable!!
ReplyDeleteI like the mini charms. they make great little quilts and embelish bigger quilts. I especially love them in your tins!

I like working with jelly rolls and especially like the versatility of working with layer cakes.. So many more size options with a layer cake and cut into quarters it's like for charm packs!,
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the charm squares.
ReplyDeleteJanet
Love those jelly rolls!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new book. What a wonderful accomplishment and such a great variety of gorgeous projects! I love using pre-cuts...charms are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteCharms are very affordable so I have quite a few of them, but I also like layer cakes because they can be used in a variety of ways. Can't wait to take a look at Loose Change on my next visit to the quilt shop!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat title..... Inspiration is always needed for me with precuts... Can't wait to see a copy.....

My favorite is still charm packs! Looks like another interesting book!
ReplyDeleteI love the precuts, esp. charm packs - you do a lot of the work of selecting the fabrics to go together for us! Currently I am using the 2.5 charms I won here and going to use the mini twister on them! I can't wait to see the book and would like to know the easiest place to buy the 2.5 charms. I don't see them very often.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for your give aways!! Patty D. from Crystal City, MO
Wonderful quilt patterns in your new book! Congrats on what is sure to be another successful run. I have used charm packs several times but think Layer Cakes are great! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite precuts are charm squares. Your book looks amazing...thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, KT Quilters!!! :) I'm so excited for you, and I'm looking forward to either winning or eventually buying a copy! I adore charm packs because of their size and affordability. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMy favorites are charm packs and jelly roll strips.
ReplyDeleteI have some charm packs that I simply adore that I have a small piece from the entire collection. The samples patterns you have shown from the book look very inviting!
I like charms and fqs because that is what I've used before. After reading about your book and use of charms, layers and minis, need to reconsider their use. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI love to use layer cakes , it is so nice to have the whole line. Looking forward to see your new book.
ReplyDeleteChar S.
Charm packs are great! They let me see the prints available at an affordable price. If I love the whole line, I can buy a fq bundle. If there are certain prints that sing to me, I can buy yardage. Even if nothing calls to me, I can still use the charm pack for quick or scrappy projects.
ReplyDeleteCharm packs are my favorite....So many things one can do with them. I lean toward small quilts, and they are perfect for variety.
ReplyDeleteFat quarters and layer cakes are my favorite precuts but I also like charm squares. Love the pics from your new book. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteCharm packs are great. It is wonderful to have a whole line of fabric in a project.
ReplyDeleteYes, I need Loose Change! My favorite is layer cakes because they can be cut in so many different ways!
ReplyDeleteI just saw those little bitty charm packs the other day! They are SO cute! I would love to win some 'loose change' - lol! This book looks wonderful and I can't wait to get my hands on one! Thanks for a chance to win!!
ReplyDeleteLove the chance to win a SIGNED book -- know it is going to be great! I love all the precuts but am anxious to have the minis soon to add to the ease of piecing.
ReplyDeleteI've been using charm squares to make the disappearing 9 patch, it's just so easy to get a nice looking quilt. Thanks for the chance to win what looks like a wonderful book.
ReplyDeleteI really like FQ's for larger items and charm packs for smaller or just to make it easier. Thanks for a chance to win the new book.
ReplyDeleteI guess charm packs would have to be my fav, since I taught a charm club for quite a while. But anything that makes quilting faster is fine by me! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say that jelly rolls are still my favorite - so pretty all rolled up, lol! Thank you for the chance to win the book - I can't wait to start some of these quilts!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun book! My favorite precut would be a layer cake--I like to see big chunks of the fabric.
ReplyDeleteI have only purchased charm packs so far. I mostly make small quilts, table toppers and wall hangings so they work well.
ReplyDeleteWould love a chance to win the book.
Charlotte S.
The samples that you showed us from Loose Change look wonderful. I love to use the pre-cuts, saves a lot of cutting time. Can spend that extra time sewing more. Thanks for the chance to win the new book.
ReplyDeleteI like to work with charm squares. I just see so many possibilites in those little cuties!
ReplyDeleteI love charm packs. There are endless items you can make....and always looking for more!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on what looks like a great book! I love layer cakes :) thanks!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new book!! Thanks for all of your hard work to show us how to make fast and fun quilts!! Great book for all levels of quilters. I would love to have an autographed book by such a talented lady!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of the charm packs. I have been buying them since they first came out in a tin square. Sounds like these quilts would be alot of fun to make.
ReplyDeleteThe new book looks great. In many books I find I like only 1 or 2 of the patterns, but I would enjoy making ant & all of the patterns you previewed for us from your book. I have dozens of precuts that need to be turned into quilts, so thanks for the chance to win a signed copy of your Loose Change.
ReplyDeleteLynn - Would you please consider turning-off the word verification required to leave a comment on your blog. It took several times to leave my comment because the words/# are so blurry or difficult to copy correctly. Other blogs were not aware of this problem until recently and have since turned-off this crazy making step on their blogs. I do not know why Blogger would chose such a poor quality verification process. Thank you for listening.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the wonderful book. I'm liking every thing I see. I used to buy a lot of Charm packs, but lately I've been getting layer cakes. So I'm pretty easy to please. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteA new book is a super big deal. Yours looks so fun!!!! I really like the charm packs. There's lots of stuff you can make with them and you get to see the whole line. Then search out your favorite.
ReplyDeleteI really love charm squares. I like to work with all the prints in a line.
ReplyDeleteI a big fan of charm packs. Very versatile and affordable. It's a nice way to get a bit of an entire line.
ReplyDeleteI like jelly rolls and have made a variety of quilts with them. After seeing your quilts at the retreat can't wait to try the charm/mini-charm combo!
ReplyDeleteI like layer cakes. I'm a old whole cloth quilter and even now I have to curb my natural inclination to buy at least a yard of any fabric. So charm packs and jelly rolls just don't make me feel like I could possibly have enough fabric. I'm working on it though. I love the quilts you showed from your Loose Change book.
ReplyDeleteI love to collect your charm packs. I used several to make a simple king size quilt that I designed. It would be great to win Loose Change - thanks for the opportunity.

My favroite pre-cut are charm packs. Not only are they affordable and you can make so many things with them, you can identify the whole line of fabric by the numbers on the back of each packet so that you can order fabric online and get the color shade that you "expected." Love the patterns in your new book and would love to be a winner! Thanks...Lana
ReplyDeleteI have always loved charm packs, but the mini charms are irresistible! I enjoy making small projects, and the mini charms fit the bill. Love your idea to center a charm on a piece of cake, and then quartering it, so the individual cuts can be mixed.
ReplyDeleteI really like charm packs and Honey Buns when I can find them. The new book looks like it has some great projects, thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteThe new book is awesome! Lots of projects in it. Can't wait to get started!
ReplyDeleteBjeanand@gmail.com
I like charm squares...an affordable way to gather and sample different fabrics. Then, if I really like a collection, I can get a layer cake or a fat quarter bundle (though, with the cost of fabric, I really need to have a specific project in mind to get one of those!)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new book...the project in your blog post look great!
I have bought all three but my favorite is the charm squares.
ReplyDeleteI've worked almost exclusively with fat quarters but since I saw your work while you we're at Threads of Time in Danville, I'm ready to branch out into precuts. In fact I plan to take the FQs that I've been shuffling around and process them into dimes, nickels and pennies and give your techniques a try. Then I can buy some new fabrics that I will actually use but have a couple of neat quilts besides! No guilt.
ReplyDeleteI prefer fat quarter bundles----can do anything with those!
ReplyDeleteCharm packs are my favorite--especially since you have so many patterns that I can use them in!
ReplyDeleteI think my favorite is a jelly roll. I have used them the most!
ReplyDeleteI like the charm square most of the time. But I usually hedge my bets when it's KTQ fabrics and purchase a jelly roll or layer cake as well. Thanks for the give away.
ReplyDeleteI love them all! But given the choice I would probably go with fat quarters, followed closely by charm squares. Looks like a fantastic book!
ReplyDeleteLove the projects you have shown from your book...I would say the layer cake is a versatile precut..
ReplyDeleteI've actually used more jelly rolls than other precuts. My second favorite is the charm squares. I've never tried your five & dime patterns and would love to try them. I just purchased your newest charm squares (Harvest Moon) yesterday for myself & a quilting friend.
ReplyDeleteI've used layer cakes and charm packs the most but am willing to try them all! Thanks for the chance at your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOkay just read about your newbook via Pam B. glad she did as I have this habit of purchasing not only jelly rolls but also cuarm packs..they are always so tempting. Thanks for the opportunity!
ReplyDeleteMy favs are jelly rolls but charms are becoming a close second. thanks for the chance to win the book! I like the looks of the quilts shown
ReplyDeletedebbie
I love jelly rolls, mostly because they are the easiest to find. I would love to work with charms and layer cakes, your method looks so easy. I love easy. I saw you on Quilt with the Stars, great interview.
ReplyDeleteWhere can I can the five & dime ruler to make the loose change quilt. I have been all over the internet looking for it. Does JoAnn's have it? I want one so I can get some layer cakes and charm packs and start making a quilt. I love the concept.
ReplyDeleteJust watched your tutorial with Jenny from Missouri Quilt Company. Love this and the rulers that go with this pattern too. Can't wait to try one.
