Holiday Mind Scramble

I opened my blog this morning to announce the winner of the 3 Christmas patterns from the blog special last week and guess what? NO COMMENTS! I wondered if everyone was so busy Christmas shopping they weren't blogging, but then realized I hadn't posted that little bit of information. So sorry! Sooooo, this week, there will be 2 winners - one for this week's giveaway of 2 Christmas booklets and last week's for the 3 patterns. For this week, how about Warm Memories with a feather tree & ornaments to count down to Christmas...
AND Merry, Joy, Wish with double stars simplified with our layered patchwork technique and
fused raw edge applique in the borders.
Each booklet has several other projects for the holidays including runners, pillows, etc. It's still not too late! Who am I kidding? At least you'll have a good start for next year. Why does it feel like December only has a couple of weeks in it? I haven't even gotten a tree yet! My excuse it that we're moving virtually every piece of furniture we have to lay new carpet next week, I'm moving my office from one end of the building to the other, and we're changing internet providers. Lots of people coming and going making a mess with nothing in it's right place. Hauling out a bunch of Christmas decorations to add to the chaos didn't seem like a good idea. Before the kids & grankids come to spend the night, I'll hang some Christmas quilts, pull out the little already-decorated tree and pile presents underneath. As long as there is plenty of food and warm hearts, it's all good around here.

Hope your holiday preparations are going smoothly. Let me know how you do it all and stay sane!

If you'd like to purchase these 2 booklets ($10.95 retail each), please send $15 cash or check to: Lynne Hagmeier, PO Box 278, Bennington, KS 67422. We'll pay the shipping since they won't fit in a regular envelope. Robert would love it if you include a self-addressed label - that would be awesome!

  2. Even though I get soooo stressed I love when the Day final gets here and everything I stressed about is gone and then I wonder why I was so worried.

  3. Thanks for the giveaways Lynne! I definitely don't have time for more sewing projects this Christmas, but I just saw the 2 of the cutest Oreo craft projects over at Quilt Taffy blog. I made a list of supplies to pick up. I can find time if I sleep less, right?

  4. These are sweet Christmas quilts.
No need to enter me in this draw but did you receive my mailing address email about the Point it Out giveaway?

  5. Our holiday preparations are on 'hold'...had to move out of our house months ago so it could be remediated (it's still not done)...have been temporarily living in a condo with almost all our 'stuff' in storage...decided to build a new house and hopefully it will be done in time to move in before Christmas...sanity? what is that??? LOL!!!!

Best wishes to you and yours for a very Merry Christmas!!!

  6. I thought I would have plenty of time for Christmas preparations this year since Thanksgiving was early. That was before the hot water heater elements failed and it took a week to get the parts to fix it. At least we aren't taking cold showers any longer. One of these years I'm going to have Christmas done early, but it isn't going to be this year.

  7. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Lynn. Not sure is there is such a thing as a sane Christmas. I'm just starting my baking today.

  8. Merry Christmas to you and all you love and all who love you!

I live in the UK, but am heading to the White Mountains of New Hampshire for the Holidays to meet up with old friends. So I have much less stress than usual as I need to do no cooking ordecorating this year.

(But I've stillmade a Christmas Cake and Plum Puddings as we always have them at Easter too!)

    So laid back I'm hirzontal!

  9. I don't have my tree up yet either. I am going for the simplified version this year too.

    ReplyDelete
  10. We put our tree up the first weekend of December - the earliest ever. I hope it lasts until Christmas. I am going to try to remember to water it.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Well, I'm a bit late with my shopping and all too, so the important thing is not to get too stressed about it, and try and spend a little time...even if it's only 15-20 minutes in the evening, doing something calming and relaxing that you enjoy.

  12. I sure would like to win these patterns. Thanks for the chance.

  13. I agree, December just doesn't seem to have the same amount of days as the other months! Good luck with all the goings on. Last year we were still painting on Christmas day prepping for New Year company. My son asked that no renovations be done in Dec. this year. I wonder why?

  14. I love Kansas Troubles, and I am slowly filling up the closet with it. I have two quilts on the go with it, and a tablecloth, but I'd love to have the new patterns.

  24. To stay sane, I had to email my husband (so it would be in writing) that I was not going to finish the three quilts I was making for Christmas. They have a new "to be finished" date of Feb 14th. That should be more doable.

    ReplyDelete
  25. How does anyone stay sane at this time of year. I am making Christmas gifts all year round in an effort to be organised, but still find myself suffering a last minute rush! I would love to win a copy of the Xmas tree and ornament pattern. I could start that in the new year and it should be finished by next Christmas! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  26. I just do what I can do and don't worry about the things that don't get done. :-)

  34. Our family Christmas was over Thanksgiving. We are excited to welcome a "soon to be" new baby to our family. I'm always one of those "last minute" kinda Christmas shopper so it sure feels funny not doing that this year. But it does give me a chance to really focus on the true meaning of Christmas especially because of our new grandchild to be born soon. I feel so blessed!!!! Thanks for sharing your incredible gift with us.

  35. No more Christmas sewing for this year. Thanks for the give away. Love the patterns

  36. Ooh, I can truly relate to your opening sentence :) Lately I've been making duplicate lists of important monthly items that I must do, hopely I remember since I come across the lists hourly now ;}
Love your patterns, fabrics and I would enjoy winning.

  40. Love the tree and the stars!!!

I have hardly started anything Christmas yet! The cake is baked, but there are no decorations out yet.

Thank you for the opportunity to win.

  41. Every year I tell myself I'm going to get an earlier start on making Christmas gifts, but every year spend December scrambling to get finished. Love the patterns. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love Christmas and can't wait to decorate each year. I make myself wait until after Thanksgiving, but have been know to do it on Veteran's day. I've got my Christmas quilts out, a nine foot tree and three four feet trees. I have ornaments my children made in the 70's and now the grandchildren are making me ornaments. They love to see their creations on the tree each year. I have a Christmas train that winds around and under presents and 11 sets of hands grabbing for it.

Thanks for your generosity over the years. A truly addicted KT fan!

  43. well, it's hard to remember everything all the time. LOL funny story. I hope all your moving things go great. I love all the patterns and books that you are offering. Merry Christmas and by the way we don't put up a Christmas tree either.

  44. Wishing everyone a joyous Christmas and enjoy the time with family and friends. I'm a KS fan and absolutely love how all the fabric lines can be mix and match. Thank you!

  45. What's sane? I think it's all relative. Some of the craziest holidays made the best memories. And what's that saying - People who care, don't matter and people who matter don't care! I'll stitch to that!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. chaos at Christmas always makes it interesting! A friend is finally moving into her "new" home after 8 months of serious renovation that had to meet historical requirements because the house is on the Historical Register. She's been amazing, especially given that she has 3 kids (5, 11 & 14)! She figures if she can find the tree, the lights and the stockings, she'll be good!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I can totally understand the Christmas rush feeling. I always plan to do too much. This year I wanted to make 3 of the grandchildren fleece jogging suits and I haven't even started!! Just finished quilting for others and now need to get started on doing my own things. Oh well, tis the season. I love your feather tree and would love to win the pattern. Thank you so much for the chance.

  48. I used to get really stressed out about Christmas, but now we go to our daughter's house and the stress level has gone down. LOL!!
Thanks for the chance to win some wonderful patters.
Hope you have a Merry Christmas.

  49. I am usually better at getting Christmas gifts made but this year we moved and I spent the past few months getting re-settled. I already have lots of ideas, new and old, for next year. Our trees went up right after Thanksgiving, earlier than usual for me. We have a theme tree in the living room, a large traditional tree in the bonus room and a small tree in the media room with my daughters hand-made ornaments collected over many years. Although the decorating is done, the shopping is still on the list. Would love to win some patterns. You are certainly a trooper to redo your office and add new carpet during this busy time. Have a blessed Holiday season.

  50. I know how you feel! We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel with stuff moved to every spare spot in the house. I am not even getting the decorations out this year, I don't want to get dust and dirt all over my Christmas treasures and there is no room for it anyway. I love your patterns, thanks for a chance to win. They would be fun to make for Christmas, next year! Merry Christmas and hope all goes well with your remodel project!

  52. It would have to be an early start for next year--no time left for me right now. Love the double star pattern! Happy Holidays to you and thanks for the chance to win!

  53. I did get the tree, but then hurt my back so haven't been able to decorate the tree. Thank goodness I shopped early this year, so have most of the gifts bought.
    Merry Christmas!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Purchased gifts are all wrapped, made 4 labels for quilts going as Christmas gifts, 3 more need to be made, then I need to get the bindings on 4 quilts! Why would I choose to give 9 quilts as gifts all in the same year? I still have to quilt 2 more quilts! I've been sick for the last week so the house has not one Christmas decoration in it! Not a single Christmas cookie or other baking has been done. Oh well...in 5 years it won't matter!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Purchased gifts are all done and ready to be wrapped and mailed out. Still working on quilted items and hoping to get them done in time. Also have 3 quilts to finish, which may end up to be New Year's gifts. As for the tree, I think I'm going with a Charlie Brown Christmas tree this year....no fuss, no muss. Good luck with your office move and the new carpet. But above all, relax and enjoy your time with family! Thanks for a chance to win your patterns.

Enjoy family- that is more important then what our house looks like!!!!!! Merry Christmas

  66. Well I feel the same way that somehow December is much shorter than any other month. I am ver far behind but somehow it all gets done. I sure like the raw edge applique the quilt.

  67. When I only had 2 children and few nieces and nephews, I'd start July 5 preparing handmade gifts for Christmas. Now with 3 children, 2 kids-in-law, 4 grands, and even more extended family, I rely more on the hubby for gift buying and wrapping. I've tried starting earlier with those handmade gifts, but somehow there still seems to be a rush when it dawns on me how close Christmas actually is. I doubt I'd try any renovations this time of year, however, it always seems those unexpected things rear an ugly head and demand immediate action (and funds). Thanks for all you do and the designs you create. Expressing creativity is one way to battle that sane/insane threat.

  68. Great patterns! I would love to win :D

  69. Love those patterns, Lynne. Regarding Christmas, there was a time when I was younger that I did DO it all. That was then. LOL! I don't even have my tree up yet. I have an excuse, though. Last Thursday, I fell ill with a very nasty cold. My voice is still quite raspy. I figure that if I want to experience "festive decor overload," I can visit the mall. for now, I am busy sewing!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I always say that I will slow down and enjoy the holidays--but then there is always that "one more" batch of cookies to bake, etc. Thank you for the giveaway. I love your patterns!

  72. Great patterns! December is a busy month and goes way to quick. But, we all need to take some time to reflect what Christmas is really about - the birth of Christ. --- Merry Christman

    ReplyDelete
  73. These patterns would be so much fun to make! My new years resolution is to start making Christmas gifts in January and just make them all year long! That should make me ahead of all the rush that December brings. Thanks for chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Yes indeed, I'm always up for a new project for NEXT Christmas - LOL. What fun. And just so you know, I've been working since August to get ready for Christmas and I'm not even close to being done. Perhaps I'll just bake cookies and call it good.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I just bought one of your patterns in Georgetown CO at The Quilted Purl - found your blog through hers! Love your patterns!!

  81. Terrific giveaway--I love your raw edge technique! I make no specific effort to stay sane--except that I know panicking is of no help whatsoever! I'm a last minute kind of gal and that doesn't seem to be changing as I get older, LOL!

Wishing you a most merry and bright Christmas.
