KT Favorites II Scrap Winner
Congratulations to Babareeba! You're the winner of the huge pile of KT Fav II scraps. We'd love to see a picture of what you do with them. Actually, anyone out there that wants to send a picture of a KT project, please send it my way via ktquilts2@twinvalley.net. I'd love to have a monthly showcase of quilts made by you.Five & Dime/Loose Change Tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt Co
OMG! There are few times in my life when this expression really fits, but this is definitely one of them. I visited Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co. a couple months ago to show her my Loose Change book and Five & Dime Ruler. We shot a video, laughed alot, had lunch and planned a retreat for March of this year. I came home to concentrate on preparations for market. October and November passed and the holidays are upon us. Robert and I decided to close the store the week between Christmas and New Year's for inventory and wished our employees a Happy New Year. The kids and grankids descended upon us to celebrate on the 27-28th of December. After the dust settled on the 29th, Robert pulled out his iPad to check his emails. There were hundreds of orders for books & rulers from the Missiouri Star tutorial that had gone online on the Dec 27, unbeknownst to us. Again, OMG! We had no employees, MSQC needed more rulers and books ASAP, and our ruler supplier was also closed for the holidays. Long story short, orders kept pouring in each day, and Robert had a minor panic attack, but the rulers have arrived and orders are shipping as fast as we can get them to the post office. By the end of this week, Robert and his exhausted but hearty crew (Linda & Jamie) will breath a sigh of relief and raise a glass to all of you quilters. If you've placed an order recently, thank you for your patience and understanding. If you haven't seen the tutorial yet, check it out at Missouri Star Quilt Co.
Great Girlfriend Getaway

Do you have a destination you'd love to visit and spend a week quilting ? Let us know and we'll put it on our bucket list.Windmills on the Plains pattern - $7.95 at ktquilts.com |

ReplyDeleteI'm with a lot of others wanting to go to the mountains.
ReplyDeleteIf you've never been to Gulf Shores or Orange Beach, AL, you don't know what you're missing! White sand beaches that look like snow, but you don't have the ice and the sub-zero temps to go with it! Let me know how many are interested and I'll see what I can do about setting up accommodations . . .
ReplyDeleteSomething tropical... warm, ocean... San Juan! thanks!
ReplyDeleteKalispell . Montana is beautiful in September and hosts a pretty good quilt show. That would be a great place to have a week long retreat!

Good for you on your Florida retreat - and on all those sales!! I'll be going to a retreat in North Carolina in October, and may do one here (SoCal) in April ... or could I just send my husband away for a weekend and have one at home? Then I wouldn't need to figure out what to pack!

ReplyDeleteMy retreat location choice would be Chautauqua Lake, NY.
ReplyDeleteWould love to go to the mountains. Even though the winter has been long in WI, the mountains are always a draw for me.
ReplyDeleteAnn P.
Actually now that I know you have a "retreat center", I would love to go there or to the Missouri Star Quilts' center. You and Jennie are so down to earth and inspiring without being over the top that I think most people would enjoy either place. (I loved your comment on the MSQ video while with Jennie about workshops becoming competitive and people wanting to be the first one done but that is not what it is all about.)
ReplyDeleteA retreat in the mountains would be nice, or Hawaii, or the Carolinas...: ) I guess that anywhere there are quilters, fabric and sewing machines would be a lot of fun. The fabric giveaway is wonderful! Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to the Missouri Star Quilt Co, retreat. Thanks for the fun fabric giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYou can have your Hawaii or Florida just give me SHIPSHAWANA in Indiana. It I an Amish town and boy does the Amish know their quilting..!! I was a guessed at a sister church and we went to Shipshawana. Some of the ladies wandered on to one of their quilting retreats at the big Hotel we stayed at in Shipshawana. So like I said before...lol... Pick Me !!! Pick Me !!!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to go to any quilt retreat in the US....Missouri, Kansas...would be a wonderful treat as I live in Australia!
ReplyDeleteWould love anywhere in the mountains on the east coast, especially in the fall! The views outside would compete with the quilts inside!
ReplyDeleteThe mountains of the West Coast or anywhere in Utah would be perfect for me.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a getaway vacation in years (visiting family does not count as vacation), so I would love a retreat anywhere except California. ;o)
ReplyDeleteI think a quilting getaway to Missouri Star's new retreat would be awesome ! I've sewn and sold my goodies for 31 yrs., keeping very little for myself. I can't remember what a vacation feels like, it's been years. I'd definitely sew something for *me* on a quilting retreat.
ReplyDeleteI would love to head to the Colorado Mountains... Anytime and anywhere would be o.k. with me.. If that can't work out then maybe to Bennington, KS to KT retreat!!!
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to go on a cruise and quilt too. The best of both worlds!
ReplyDeleteNext fall, I am going to Mary Koval's retreat in Bedford, PA with 2 friends. So looking forward to the retreat, visiting Lancaster, shopping for antiques etc.
ReplyDeleteCharlotte
Right here in my backyard, Beautiful McCall Idaho!!!! But I am kinda biased! ;0) Love the sweet pea line! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm heading to a retreat tomorrow here in MN only an hour away from me!! How wonderful it would be to win those scraps-I make lots of donation quilts and that would be perfect for them!!
ReplyDeletesomewhere warm, sunny with a beach
ReplyDeleteI would love to go on a quilt retreat to Williamsburg, Virginia. We have traveled from our home in Connecticut to there many times and it is beautiful. I can just picture myself quilting in this historic setting where colonial women did the same thing many, many years ago. It would inspire me!
ReplyDeleteI think a quilting cruise would be the ultimate retreat!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere in Maine - am in South Africa and many years ago started putting money away in a "running away fund" which I dubbed my Maine Account, with the hope of going to Maine for three months on my own, and quilting while I was there. Any cash windfalls went into it, and it grew slowly but steadily. Then life happened, as it does, and the money slowly but steadily got used for daily needs, and the occasional disaster, and there's nothing left of it except a dream.
ReplyDeleteWashington Island and Madeleine Island here in my home state of Wisconsin.
ReplyDeletehedgehog52@yahoo.com
It's hard to pick a place for a retreat because if you want to see the place, you're not sewing! So really I'd like a retreat someplace where there are plenty of tables, outlets, lots of light, a good cook and a comfy, warm bed.
ReplyDeleteCentral missouri would be great. I plan to visit your shop this spring!
ReplyDeleteSomewhere in GA would be great---maybe Tybee Island?
ReplyDeleteSomewhere warm and sunny - maybe Myrtle Beach, SC. I love KT fabrics!
ReplyDeleteHope it's not too late. If I could choose anywhere for a retreat, it would have to be my favorite destination: Hilton Head Island. ;-) But just about any beach will do!
ReplyDeleteI had my quilt retreat this past weekend with my sisters Glenna and Lois, the fabric specialist and quilter extraordinairre!!
ReplyDeleteThe Lake of Ozarks would be beautiful. The history and people are a treasure. My parents took me and my younger brother there on a family vacation after we lost our brother to menengitis. It was a hard time for all of us, but watching the sun set from a boat on the lake is the memory I took away.
