Twisted...or, my life story

 KT Winner

Congratulations to Susan from PA. You've won the Crazy for Pillows book. Thanks to everyone who commented.

Twisted

Can't believe I missed a week of blogging, but the after-market frenzy was almost as bad as the week before! We arrived home Monday night, unloaded Tuesday, and I picked up a grankid on Wednesday morning (school is out but no daycare until after Memorial Weekend). Next year's Christmas line is due, as well as final editing on two of our new projects for this market - Crazy for Pillows from last week's post, and a trio of layered patchwork projects, Twisted. KT's Wedge Template is featured in this fun, simple, strippy quilt perfect for picnics and porches, dorm beds and bunk beds. Just one Jelly Roll provides the wedges for all projects plus the background for the runner and pillow sleeve. Make the quilt as a gift, keep the other 2 projects for yourself - or keep them all!

The wedges are cut from JRs, lined up on the tan background strips and topstitched. Two matching tan strips are sewn together, then sashed with the navy strips and borders. Looks like twisted ribbon to me! How easy is that??? For a longer dorm quilt that measures 54" x 78", just add borders to the top and bottom, too (option in pattern).

Twisted will be available June 1st ($8.95) from your local quilt shop or ktquilts.com. Spread the word!

Because I missed a week, let's do 2 giveaways this week! #1 - Twisted pattern plus the KT Wedge Template; #2 - a scrap pack of KT's new Heartfelt fabric. Comment here on your summer plans - vacation, gardening, quilting?

Stay tuned this summer for lots of fabric scrap packs as I clean out bins and drawers and baskets in my studio. Amazing how much I accumulate with 3 or 4 fabric lines a year. I swear I'm not keeping anything smaller than a fat 1/8 anymore, so the scraps are getting bigger all the time!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I probably won't go on any long vacation this summer--maybe just a few overnights here and there. I plan to do lots of quilting though--a patriotic quilt, one or two Christmas quilts, and lots of small zipper bags for presents. I'll try to stay focused, but it's hard when I see new projects all the time that I want to try, like your twisted chain pattern. I really like to get started on Christmas early, though, as it's less stress during the holidays. Come to think of it, your twisted chain pattern would be darling using Christmas fabrics. So many ideas!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I seem to quilt more during the summer. Then in the winter I can wrap myself in a quilt as I am sewing down the binding. OK, so there might be a cat or two wrapped up in there somewhere.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I had lots of ideas for the summer, but my husband fell and broke his hip so looks like I will be the helper person as he recovers. Of course that always leaves time for some short sessions of sewing.

  71. I think just family stuff. I have two new grandsons and one of my sons is returning home after living halfway across the country and another is returning from basic training (Canadian navy). Good times are coming!

    ReplyDelete
  72. We've been so busy we haven't had time to make summer plans! We took a big trip at Christmas and a couple small trips the past two weekends, so summer will probably be mostly spent at home. That's fine, we will avoid the big summer crowds.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Love those quilts you've shown here.
We really have no summer plans, although there are a few shop hops starting soon that I just might want to take part in. If we do, then I might see if an online friend wants to meet at one of the shops since it is down near her town and we've talked for two years now about meeting somewhere since we've never met in person yet.

Other than that, we will be reclaiming our home again. One of my boys moved back home with his family temporarily, but that lasted about 3 1/2 years and they just let us know they are ready financially to move out and have found a place to live. This is giving me very mixed feelings because when they moved in, their daughter, was just 4 months old. We have been with her daily of course, for pretty much her entire life so far and it's going to be SO sad to see her leave because she's my buddy now and when Momma and she come home at the end of the day after Mommy's job, the second that back door opens she starts yelling Gramma, Grammmmmmmmmmmmaaaaaaaaa all the way through the house until she gets to my sewing room and gives me the mail and a big hug. I'm honestly going to miss her so much. She gets super excited when fabric (or in her case, it's FABIC) arrives in the mail because she loves pulling it out and draping it all over the place to play with it. But, at the same time, we're also going to be happy to have our nice quiet home back too. It's just a happy/sad thing they've moving. So once they move we'll be cleaning and moving things around again.

  74. Gardening is in full swing around here. Quilting takes a back seat in the summertime since the season is too short. I still have quilting projects though, and DIY home improvement projects.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Yard work and some quilting.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Hopefully I'll be able to get some quilting done this summer. I'm recuperating from hip replacement surgery, and I don't dare sew or use a rotary cutter w hileon pain meds! YIKES!! I'll be able to soon! I also want to get a few things planted in the vegetable garden. Can't beat homegrown tomatoes! Love your fabric and patterns!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. Love the new Twisted Pattern. I can see that in so many quilts. Body, borders you name it. Not much gardening going on in my apartment. But hopefully lots of quilting.

    ReplyDelete
  78. My plans always include quilting no matter the season. There will be lots of yard mowing, weed pulling and time with grandkids in between. A vacation depends on when the beans get planted!

    ReplyDelete
  79. If my veggie garden survives the recent rains we've gotten(not complaining) I will be busy canning mowing grass and quilting! Love KT fabrics and can always use more!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  84. As much as I'd like to do nothing but quilt this summer, weeds need pulling and veggies grown. There are also a couple of trips on the horizon .... I leave next week to drive my mother to her 60th (!!!!) college reunion. We live in IL and she graduated from Wilson College (an all-girls college STILL!) in Chambersburg PA. Nothing like a road trip to find quilt stores along the way! Then in July we'll make a trip to the Chicago area to see my NC niece play in a Girls Softball Showcase. It was perfect timing as the Cardinals will be playing the Cubbies the few days before the softball games! I'll still be working fast & furious on my quilts in between all the fun!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Heading back to Iowa twice and planning on doing the Row by Row Shop Hop!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  88. I've just moved back into my condo and have some major unpacking & rearranging to do. Sounds easy, but work I four 10 hour days a week, veg out on the fifth day, catch up on day-to-day chores, and am finding little time to actually relax, much less quilt! Still, your fabric is so pretty, who wouldn't want to add to their stash. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  89. Looking forward to doing some quilting, going to a shop hop or two and attending my mother's 95th birthday celebration. It is so hot here in the summers so staying inside to quilt is a "good thing."

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  92. Not sure what I will be doing this year, we have a very large garden and has been neglected for the last couple of years while we had some extended holidays. But I am sure I will find some time to quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  96. I never quit quilting for Summertime - there's always a rainy day to do prep work, cutting and/or sewing. As I'm tapering off from every day quilting, your scraps will fit in with my own for some scrappy quickies.
