Moda Blockheads Week #12

I write this post with a heavy heart. After going to the Dr. for a presumed stomach virus just a week ago, my Dad passed away yesterday. Tests revealed a large cancerous mass in his stomach had spread. We had no clue. By the next day, his kidneys and other organs were affected and the diagnosis was grim. Hospice was helpful in making the transition home. Dad visibly relaxed, tucked into his own comfy bed. My siblings and I gathered to care for Dad and support my Mom through this difficult time. Within 24 hours, he was gone. What a blessing that his suffering was short and he died knowing he was surrounded by love.

He was my mentor, confidant and biggest supporter of KTQ. His shining examples of character, work ethic and honesty in business and life will live on within me and my family forever. He will be missed. I love you, Dad.

Thanks to everyone who have sent messages of condolence. Quilters are the best in good times and bad. Your support is appreciated.

  1. Lynne- please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. There are never words that can be said that make a loss such as this any easier, but I do hope you find comfort in each other and your memories. ❤️

  2. I am so sorry for your loss, no one can ever make the pain go away completely but I know that it does lessen as time goes on. I lost my dad 3-1/2 years ago, and it is still hard at times, but oh the good times we have when my sister, brothers, and I talk about all of our wonderful memories. You and your family are in my prayers, with a special prayer for your mom. My heart aches for her as I remember the pain and sadness that my dad felt after my mom passed.

  4. My condolences, Lynne. My Dad passed in December after just a week on hospice, so I feel like I can relate in some measure.
Sounds like you also had a great Dad and will miss him terribly. It is such a good thing to have the support of family and friends at times like this.

  25. I'm so very sorry. At least your Dad was were he wanted to be, with those he loved and who loved him. There is no consolation for losing a loved one so quickly, but time gives us wisdom and eventually the good memories will supersede those of the last week and you'll all be able to remember your Dad with love, joy and laughter
