Block #9 - With a Plus by Laurie Simpson

Welcome to Laurie! She's one of the new additions to Blockheads II. We're delighted to have her perspective this time around. Although her With a Plus block is simply pieced, I can see it as a scrappy charm quilt - half light/half dark blocks. I have a teen grandson who would love it.  It's on my to-do list.

Block #7 - Spin Cycle by Stacy Iest Hsu

We're seven weeks into Blockheads II and I'm having such fun playing with fabrics for these blocks. Stacy's cleverly named pinwheel block  can be colorized in a dozen ways. Moda Blockheads II - Block #5

Happy 4th of July

I LOVE the 4th of July. My birthday is the 5th of July. When I was little, my Dad told me everyone in our little town was shooting off fireworks to celebrate my birthday. I totally believed him. And still do! Have a safe and happy Independence Day.

At my age, my kids joke that the "favorite" will inherit the most quilts & antiques, so they're all vying for the title. So funny!

A favorite? That's like saying which one of your kids do you love the most. Right now I'm most drawn to Zen Chic because I love Grunge, Lisa Bonjean because well because gray is awesome and then there is Laurie Simpson who is using scraps from a variety of Minnick and Simpson lines who I'm totally obsessed with. Tomorrow it might be KT or Me and My Sister or who knows because I'm basically a Moda girl. I guess I'll have to give the answer my kids always use when asked who is Momma's favorite and that is none - because she hates us all the same. ;)

Blockheads II- Block #5 by Vanessa Goertzen of Lella Boutique

Vanessa's fabric collections evoke a clean, fresh feeling that are perfect for building your decorating palette. Her 24" block this week is simple, but stunning. It would make a wonderful larger quilt. Hmmm, better add that to my to-do list.

Here's my red/tan/navy version of Vanessa's Impact block.You could also do scrappy reds and navys for fun. 

For a classic KTQ option, add a little green and purple to the red and navy. The same multi-tan background works for both.
