It feels sooo good to feel good again! Of course, 70+ degree weather in Feb. doesn't hurt either. Robert and I took a long walk around the farm, making plans to start a raised bed garden this spring. It brought back memories of helping my Gramma in her veggie garden as a child, when pulling weeds was a game and a chewy cookie right out of the oven was the reward. Oh, what a life!
Shown here is the original 30's quilt that inspired my Gramma's Vegetable Garden. Piecing the Past, our book with The KC Star, features a dozen of my vintage quilts and their modern day versions. Check the website for a special sale on this book now - just $22.95! I'm pretty sure we'll be giving away a book later in March. Watch each week for more pics of the new and old quilts in the KT Studio.
Check back Monday for an announcement 10 years in the making!
Enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend.

Lynne I absolutely love the dark version of Gramma's Vegetable Garden - it it beautiful. Can't wait to see the book!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing more inspiration! I have two of my grandmother's quilts; a glorified nine patch and an orange peel I think it is called. They are precious to me.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the newest 'Square Foot Gardening' book. It is GREAT! Raised beds - specially mixed growing medium - and terrific results!
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt and beautiful setting for it.
ReplyDeleteWe have warmer weather, but the snow is still melting, so a mix of snow and mud. I can't wait to get out for walks again.

ReplyDeleteLOVE your new blog header! The colors in the quilt - the scrapiness of it - all just perfect! Glad you're on the mend - nothing makes you appreciate your normal good health more than getting sick!
ReplyDeletei love thinking about the garden!
ReplyDeleteOh Lynne, I love your Vegetable Garden quilt and my gramma did the same things too!
ReplyDeleteWe're still under ice and snow in Montana (like we really should be) but thinking about gardens and growing things sure gives us hope!!! Love your version of the Garden quilt -those warm, wonderful colors just add to the charm of it.
ReplyDeleteI love your version of the quilt! Sounds like we had similar childhood memories - even the peek of the sewing machine in your photo looks like my Gramma's!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
I just love the garden quilt. I remember as a kid always helping my Mom in the garden picking green beans and tomatoes. I remember one year we panted pop corn and how hard it was to shuck corn in the fall. We always had a cherry tree and an apple tree. I spent many mornings in the cherry tree picking cherries with the birds squaking at me. I remember my Mom would lay plastic every where when we pitted those cherries. We couldn't have any worms in our cherry pie. Having a garden is so much fun and I still have one every year. Thanks for making me think of the good old summer times.
