Moda Blockheads Week #27

Moda Blockheads Week #27

This week features Jo Morton's block, Union Variation. I can see a multitude of color options for this block and can't wait to see what you all make. I love seeing your FB posts. Keep it up!

Here is Kathy's traditional block (right) using some of Jo's collection of civil war prints. Joy's Layered Patchwork block (left) uses an assortment of KT scraps. The background fabric is the new Harvest Hill fabric coming soon.

Question of the Week: Do you hand quilt?
I took a class over 20 years ago and thought I would always have a hand quilting project going for those "quiet times" when I needed some handwork. What a laugh! I have very little down time to relax and enjoy hand work. I want to learn Laurie Simpson's big stitch method, however. Maybe someday. Otherwise, I'll leave the tips and tricks to the other Blockhead designers.

Workshops in Colorado & Utah

Join me in Hotchkiss, CO for the S & B Quilt Guild's meeting this Saturday with a Mini Charm Sampler workshop on Friday to learn all the tricks of Layered Patchwork. I'll be sharing my quilts in Grand Junction, CO at Hi Fashion Quilt Shop Sunday thru Tuesday with a trunk show Sunday afternoon, then Rustic Stars and the brand new Pumpkin Harvest workshops on Monday & Tuesday, We'll move on to Thimbles & Thread in Draper, UT for a weekend retreat where I'll offer a trunk show plus a workshop on the Cruisin' Sampler and finish up with a Mini Table Treats workshop. Looking forward to seeing you there!

  1. Good heavens, No. You certainly don't have time for handwork. Take care.

  2. I love to hand quilt, but there is just not enough time. It took me 6 years to get my granddaughter's Queen quilt finished. Binding by hand helps satisfy my hand quilting needs.
