Moda Blockheads Week #42

KT Blockheads Winner

I forgot to post the winner of the giveaway from last week. Congratulations to:

Bowl cozys ,pot holders, table runners and still not done lol... happyness04431@yahoo.com

Moda will be sending out your KT fabric bundle and Cozy Quilts & Comforts book soon!

The end of the year is almost here, and we're nearing the last round of Blockheads' blocks. Just 6 blocks/weeks left after today! I can't believe how quickly the year has gone by. But, before we get to Block #42...

Question of the Week: My perfect holiday season is - big and boisterous or quiet and peaceful? I will spend this week....

My perfect holiday is when all the kids and grankids come for food, games, gifts and an overnight slumber party at the KT Retreat. Then, Robert and I are ready for a quiet Christmas Day at home alone. It's the best of both worlds! I'm just done shopping and decorating, just need to finish up some baking and last minute cooking. Everyone brings heavy appetizers - meatballs, dips, veggies, etc. and we snack all night long. Of course, there are more desserts than anything else. Good thing for my waistline it's only once a year!

Block #43 -Turnstile by Carrie Nelson

First of all, I'd like to thank Carrie for all she's done to help with our Blockheads BOW. She not only designed her blocks, but has been essential in coordinating patterns, setting up the Moda directory of all the Blockheads' Blocks, and generating our weekly questions. So glad she's on our team.

Here are Kathy's traditional block and Joy's Layered Patchwork option (left).
Find Carrie's instructions for Turnstile on her blog HERE.

My Layered Patchwork instructions can be found HERE.

Back of blocks - Kathy's traditional (left); Joy's Layered Patchwork (right).

We saved 12 seams and alot of pressing using Layered Patchwork. Give it a try!

I hope all of you celebrate the season in your favorite way with all your favorite people.
Merry Christmas from our house to yours.

  1. We spend Christmas Eve with our family. Love seeing the faces of the grandkids as they open gifts. Christmas Day is spent relaxing, watching tv and eating leftovers. We might catch a movie.

  3. My perfect holiday is LOTS of family gathering, with LOTS of lights and LOTS of comfort food. Playing games and watching football and celebrating the wonder of the season.

  4. My perfect holiday is quiet and peaceful. That is how this year's holiday will hopefully be.

  5. My husband and I enjoy each other's company SO much and we spend the holidays with just each other. The kids and grandkids are a distance off and so we touch base with them by phone. My husband still believes in Santa, and so he always comes to our house and leaves tons of gifts under our "tree" (which is a quilted wall hanging I made of a tree)! Merry Christmas everyone!

  6. We like a little of both, but we do it a little different. We stay home for the holidays, avoiding all the crowds and the traffic, but then we pick a weekend in January and have a big blowout, weekend long, family Christmas.

  7. My mother passed away in January so this is my first year without her. She was a wonderful cook and made holiday candy and loved company. We go to my in-laws on Christmas and my Mom's Christmas Eve. This year, we are visiting my son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. This should get me out of what we usually do and see those children's faces on Christmas morning! So I like activity on Christmas but need some quiet time to to reflect.
