Wildflower Serenade Charming Thursday

Featured this week is KT fabric collection #25 - Wildflower Serenade. Some lighter, brighter colors joined the KT classics for a fresh look in this line. An antique quilt inspired the crewelwork prints.

A friend of mine with a keen eye, Connie Huddleson (designer for Starry Pines and proprietor of The Little Wool Shoppe in Windsor, CO) found the quilt (see Wednesday's post pic) at Houston Market several years ago. The center appears to be a remnant from crewel-work drapery panels with assorted star and hexagon blocks arranged around the perimeter, some just whacked off to fit. She knew immediately I'd love it - and she was right. Don't you wish we could be that free with our quilts? Just piece and chop as needed. How freeing!

Wildflower Star Duet features a centerpiece of the reproduction crewelwork fabric surrounded by 2 sizes of stars. Pattern $3.00.

Flower Basket Trio - rich reds, browns and tans pieced into beautiful baskets for your bed. Pattern $3.00.

Email Robert directly (ktqrmh@twinvalley.net) today thru Sept. 2nd for either of these patterns at clearance prices and actual shipping costs.  Watch for more patterns next week.

Check in Monday for the winner of the Wildflower Serenade charm pack. I'll be on my way to the Buggy Barn in Reardon, WA for their annual outdoor quilt show/classes. Hoping for cooler weather. I'll check in via my iPad (if it cooperates!).

  7. I live near Amish Country here in Ohio. They have a shop hop every fall. One year I purchased a sampler pattern from one of the shops. Later that winter I found the Wildflower Serenade fabric. I bought some of it for the backing, border and background of the sampler. Then mixed all my other KT fabrics with it and made the most beautiful Sampler quilt. That is what I love most about KT fabrics... the fact that you can mix them all together and they go great! When traveling to different shops I always looks to see if someone has some older fabrics by KT that I don't have and I pick it up for my stash.
Enjoy your trip... I love Washington, it is truly a beautiful state. But we have many here in our great country!

  10. Love those fabrics and colors. I make hexagons and find it easier to fill in the quilt till I get the size, then I whack off the edges to make a straight border. Easier than trying to make half hexagons;)

  26. I love it..peice and chop. It is freeing. I made a quilt using antique patches I found at a resale shop. I had to chop them off for the borders. It was scary at first, but once I got started it was kind of fun. I still have those little 30's scraps. I'll put them into a crazy quilt or something.

I like this fabric line, Wildflower Serenade. Have fun at Buggy Barn!

  41. Now you've got me thinking....Grandma's old quilt needs some "recreating." Whacking and chopping sounds scary to me, though....I'll keep the thinking cap on.

  42. It's wonderful having a friend who knows exactly what we like. I admire those who take the plunge and dive into cutting those carefully pieced blocks. I really like the lighter colors in the photo of the charms. They'd be perfect for some basket blocks with wildflowers in them. Phlox, Indian paintbrush, asters....
