After getting another bug exterminated on my computer, I'm so far behind I thought it was only April, but it's looking alot like Christmas around here! Last week (whenever) I showed a block I'm using for my daughter's 30th birthday quilt. I got about half of the blocks sewn up at Pam's (Buda of Heartspun Quilts) while retreating so the rest just need to be done this summer so I can give it to her before she turns 31 (hey, she'll be 30 all year). The inspiration for the block came from my new quilt, Merry, Wish, Joy featuring Holiday Medley, the new KT Christmas line, due in quilt shops in June. Get a sneak peek now on the KT website under Fabric/Fabric Collections or thru the link above. The double star block is created just like the one in the previous blog post - a simple 9-patch background with triangles and squares (cut on the bias) raw edge stitched on top, then the 9-patch is sewn together as usual. It makes an intricate looking block without any stress or hassle and is big on primitive charm. This takes a fat 1/8 bundle of the new fabric collection plus sashing and borders. The Merry, Wish, Joy applique in the borders is inspired by the sashing fabric that has holiday words and phrases. There's also a 3-block runner that goes together so quickly, it would make great gifts. Too fun!

I do poinsettias in the kitchen. I made curtains from a tablecloth; I have a poinsettia garland for under the cabinets with lights and I need to make a poinsettia wallhanging next. The dishes are red and gold...very festive!
ReplyDeleteYou'll love the Holiday Medley fabric then, because the main print is a poinsettia motif inspired by vintage wrapping paper.
DeleteSnowmen everywhere, most of them primitive and Christmas carolers....those are my favorite things!
ReplyDeleteI love my Santa collection and put them everywhere during the holidays. I'm also working on Christmas quilts for all of the beds.
ReplyDeleteI love snowmen. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteOrnaments! My tree is so covered by kids made ornaments, collectable ornaments, ornaments that I buy every year, etc. that I had to get another tree to put the ornaments on. Love ornaments and the sentimental meaning they have behind them. Thanks for the chance.

ReplyDeleteI love decorating with my snowmen although this year I did all my Santa's for Christmas and switched out to the Snowmen for January/February. Thanks for the opportunity to win your pattern.
ReplyDeleteI love this holiday quilt. It is tasteful and can really be left out all year. I put strings of tiny white lights mixed in with greenery along the rail on top of my kitchen cupboards for Christmas one year. I liked them so well, they are left lit in my kitchen year round.I mixed them with berry vines instead of greens.
ReplyDeleteThere are three types of Christmas decorations that I REALLY love-- snowmen, reindeer and moose (mooses?).. :-) My daughter collects dog Christmas ornaments, too.. So our holiday decorating always involves lots and lots of snowmen, snowwomen, reindeer, moose (mooses ;-), and dogs! :-) Thanks for the chance to win! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe way this year is going it wont be long before it is Christmas. I decorate very simply now, wall hangings and I dress my mantle and that's about it.
ReplyDeleteI love decorating with Christmas quilts, many are KT ones. Your new Christmas quilt is one I am going to have to add to my collection. Also, Jim Shore Santas and Snowmen are a favorite, too.
ReplyDeleteWe used to put up several trees all different themes, but my favorite of all was a Victorian theme with the mercury glass and blown glass ornaments. The glittery the better for me! :)

What a great quilt! I always think that I'm going to make a Christmas quilt, but it hasn't happened so far.
ReplyDeleteVintage Santas plus other primitive wooden decorations I've collected. I love the Holiday Medley fabric and the new quilt design. I WANT this pattern!!
ReplyDeleteAn enormous real tree! One year, our youngest picked out a ten footer (and we lived on base at the time in a tiny, tiny house with an itty bitty living roo!)! Thankfully, our house did have tall, vaulted ceilings! I also like to decorate with things my boys have found, such as beautiful pine cones and pictures they have drawn from younger years. And decorating for Christmas wouldn't be complete without my beautiful quilt that my wonderful MIL made for me a couple of years ago!
ReplyDeleteMiniature counted cross stitch stocking on a tree with white lights and red bows. I love the new Holiday Medley fabric.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. Would love to make this one! My decorating is all about quilts and decorating!
ReplyDeleteI like to put up two trees. I have snowmen and Santas, quilts and candles and wreaths. I love your quilt. Thanks for the chance to win the pattern.

ReplyDeleteI decorate with lots of quilts and wallhangings, and hand made ornaments, many precious ones made by my very talented mum, who sadly passed away almost 2 years ago - they are even more special now...I love traditional red and green. Thanks for the chance to win this gorgeous pattern!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pattern... I love stars! Don't worry, my son will be turning 32 this summer, he is still waiting for his quilt I started for his 21 B-day!
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting,

Snowmen are my favorite thing to decorate with, I like them because they can stay out the whole Winter, usually I find some still out when I put out the Easter bunnies.LOL!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt, thanks for the chance to win the pattern.
Snowmen are my favorite decorations. In fact I have one sitting on the floor beside the computer desk that I MUST put away TODAY.Lately I have been decorating with Christmas themed quilts I have 4 so this pattern would look good on one of the beds.I can't wait until the fabric is in.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite theme is angels, especially the primitive ones and several that were hand made by friends. I have very little that I made myself. Seems I was always so busy making gifts, I never got around to making for myself. I'm trying to correct that now and always leaning towards the primitive.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite theme is traditional santas and traditional decorations. Really looking forward to your fabric in June. Our 10th anniversary BOM is coming along!!! jmh
ReplyDeleteI love Santas and have collected some over the years. The border fabric is fantastic! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteMary

ReplyDeleteSnowmen and snowflakes all around the nativity scene. I like to keep all my decorations very natural and country...lots of pinecones, greenery and red dogwood sticks in old metal or crock containers.
ReplyDeleteWe have a lot of quilty things for decorations...fabric chains, rag fabric on a string, snowmen, Christmas quilts...I just love decorating at Christmas. I LOVE this quilt pattern! I'd love to win it!
ReplyDeleteI collect nativities. My tree is covered with nativity ornaments, stars and angels. My favorite nativity is the Jim Shore quilted nativity, of course!
ReplyDeleteI like santas and snowmen. My grandchildren, 4 and 6, now love to draw, etc. and I decorate with all of their creations. You should see their eyes light up when they see our house decorated with their creations. What fun!! Just LOVE your patterns!! I'd love to win, too:)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite way to decorate is with seasonal quilts. I have several quilt racks in various rooms and wall space to put up several. I pile them in an old copper wash basin, put them over rocking chairs, backs of sofas, on tables, etc.
ReplyDeleteI am a collector of snowmen and love to display them at Christmas and all winter long. (That's the good thing about snowmen). I am new at quilting, but I have made some candle mats that are also displayed.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the tree that's already lit- just pull it out of the box & you're set!
ReplyDeleteI love gingerbread boys and girls. They look sew cute on everything.
ReplyDeleteI love Santas and reg & green at Christmas. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI like to decorate with my Xmas quilts, especially the one with the dogs decorating a tree, my favorite. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteCarol L
Santas are my favorite Christmas decorations and I really do it up good!
ReplyDeleteI have several Christmas "collections" that I have gathered over the years, but I think my very favorite are my nativities - I have some very simples ones, some handmade by family, and some I have purchased on my trips. I really enjoy getting them out every Christmas and remembering where they came from, or who gave them to me!
ReplyDeleteI love to decorate with snowmen.
ReplyDeleteI love the double star on this quilt.
For some reason I have not been your posts by email and this is the first in a long time. strange!
I am a snowman collector and collect vintage quilts as well. So far, all the old quilts I have are made by grandparents and great grandparents. So we definitely have the snowman theme in play around here, actually most of the year. I have cut back a lot on decorating as we all congregate at my son's home and we rarely have visitors. But we still have many snowmen. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is just a quick note to let you know I sure hope to see you in KC next month. :)

I love decorating with fresh greenery from the yard---holly and berries, Leland Cyprus, pine cones, etc. Adding some ribbon gives just the right touch to our rustic home filled with boys! I love your Christmas pattern!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite Christmas scheme is KTQ of course - I have it all - the tree skirt, 3 or 4 tablerunner/toppers and 2 wallhangings all made with coordinating fabrics. I can't wait to get my hands on the new Christmas line....

My favorite Christmas decorating theme is vintage kitchen utensils & appliances, and hand blown fruit & vegetable ornaments...and of course quilts. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI love decorating with Santas. I also like the glow of holiday candles and oil lanterns. Helps to set the mood. I like this pattern and am looking forward to seeing this fabric line in my lqs.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite decorating theme is to keep it simple. A small tree, mantle featuring my Santa and snowmen collection, and live poinsetta and candles throughout the house. I adore your quilt pattern and fabrics and would enjoy being the recipient of your giveaway! Have a Happy Easter! Lana D.
ReplyDeleteA favorite Christmas theme is decorating with Christmas quilts that have a antique reproduction look.
ReplyDeleteFor me it is the home made christmas things that touch my heart. I have things from my younger years. I have a few bulbs that were my grand mothers. The angel that tops our tree was made by a friend. Its so sweet. A couple of friends made some of the other ornaments that remind me of them. Every time I see them I remember that person.
ReplyDeleteI love to decorate with snowmen. I collect them and finding new ways to display them is fun for me. I also am a cross stitcher, so I have lots of pictures and tree ornaments to decorate with..
ReplyDeleteChristmas cookies!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas decorating theme hasn't changed in years because I have become emotionally attached to the country-themed Santa Claus figures, angels, and snowmen I began collecting in the mid 1980s. It's comforting to embrace my dear "old friends" and other decor items year after year.
ReplyDeleteMy Christmas decorating changes little from year to year because I love my decorations so much. I have many snowmen(which stay up until March) and folk art looking Santas. My favorite is doing my mantle, it just pulls everything together. Love your quilt, thanks for the chance at the pattern.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful fabric, I have a hard time getting it and patterns in Montana. I order online. Thank you
