KT Winner
Congratulations to Nancy E! You're the winner of the KT Dugout pattern last week. Due to some technical difficulties (read as user error), this post is just now being published. I accidentally scheduled it to publish in 2015! Oh well. Does that make me a week behind or a week ahead now???KT Barn Raising
I love it when a quilt block can be rearranged a dozen different ways for a variety of looks. Classic log cabin blocks work well but there are endless little strips to cut and piece for each block. Our twist on the Five & Dime block is so much easier! The trick is a half light/half dark block for graphic impact. KT's new Favorites collection of precuts has more tan prints than ever to achieve this ratio for more ways to play with the block settings. I love this traditional Barn Raising setting for it's visual appeal and traditional character. Using KT's layered patchwork technique makes construction so fast you can make a different quilt layout for everyone on your list! Our pattern also includes several more options for fast & easy quilts that look technically intricate, but feature the same, simple layered block.Layer a charm sq. centered on a Layer Cake square - light on dark and dark on light. Stitch, cut diagonally. Sew a light layered triangle to a dark layered triangle for the basic block. KT Easy! |

Furrows setting 72" x 81" lap quilt w/borders |
Ins & Outs Queen/King quilt 106" sq. w/borders |
There's also a pinwheel variation in the pattern but the possibilities are endless! I'd love to see what you all come up with, too. Send pictures to lynne@ktquilts.com. Hey, that kinda sounds like a challenge - no, a CONTEST! How about sending me pictures of your favorite KT quilt by the end of the year. We'll post our 3 favorites and have you all vote for the winner. See next week's post for all the details. To get you started, win a KT Barn Raising pattern & KT Favorites charm pack by commenting on your favorite fall decorating ideas.
Candles are my favorite fall decorating idea. Rich, fall colored candles sitting on quilted toppers, nestled in pine cones and fall leaves, pretty candles making the house smell of baked apples, pumpkin pie, cinnamon, and hot chocolate. I love candles!
ReplyDeleteI mainly just decorate with Fall quilt and most of them are KT ones. Love your orange color fabric! I do have little pumpkins sitting around.
ReplyDeletePumpkins and gourds are great to use can stay till thanksgiving. Love the idea for the above quilts.
ReplyDeleteChange up table toppers that reflect the fall colors outside. Fill wooden bowls with gourds/small pumpkins, apples and pomegranates.
ReplyDeleteDo the edges fray on the charm square?

Kathy,
DeleteYes, the edges fray to a soft effect, but no raveling. I love the dimensional, primitive look & feel of layered patchwork.
Fun!!!! I love the idea of a contest! :) My favorite Fall decorating tip/thing that I do is fill my huge wooden (antique) dough bowl with gourds and pumpkins and such. Also, I have to throw in that decorating with KT mini quilts on table tops and/or as wall hangings is a beautiful options too! I have a mini that I made on my Amish dining room table. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't do much decorating, but I do love putting my fall quilt on the bed and having all my throws around the living room!

ReplyDeleteI love decorating for fall. I love displaying my fall colored quilts in the fall. My favorite is a scrappy bear paw king sized quilt that I just finished with mainly your awesome KT prints. I collect antique and vintage salt and pepper shakers and my fall themed ones look cute displayed on table toppers and mini quilts, for example turkeys, pheasants, pumpkins ect. I like changing them out for the different seasons. Love your quilt pattern and fabrics! Lisa

ReplyDeleteFor fall I like to bring out different table toppers and wall hangings. I have a ceramic pumpkin and I like to decorate different ways with that. Love the first layout you showed. Thanks for the fun.
ReplyDeleteWho doesn't like pumpkins and fancy gourds...my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI just attended a lecture where gourds were painted to look like ghosts and hung from a tree--so fun! I need to remember to plant some gourd seeds for next year. My favorite decorations for fall are white pumpkins and colorful leaves and gourds and tiny orange pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteI Love to decorate outside with pumpkins. My husband was upset with me about how much I spent on pumpkins last year. So this year, he planted a small field of pumpkins and now I have more than what I needed. I put the remaining at the end of the driveway with a free sign on them. I just wanted to share the fall season with my neighbors.
ReplyDeleteFall table toppers and wall hangings to show off all of the beautiful colors of fall.
ReplyDeleteI love to switch out pillow covers, table cloths, curtains, etc to a fall color scheme. Thanks!
ReplyDeletePlease click on the delaineelliott above for my email link.
Fall is my favorite season. I decorate with pumpkins, gourds, autumn leaves, bitter sweet, and Chinese lanterns. Some of these are in the form of wreaths for inside and out and others in little groupings. Crows have also become part of my decorating all the time.
ReplyDeleteI love the Barn Raising quilt. It's actually one of the reasons (I have 3 others) I decided to start learning to quilt.
ReplyDeleteI used to decorate my house in almost every room when my children were smaller. I would still do it even now if I could. Sadly, my body doesn't agree with my wish to do most things any longer. LOL
I got all my decorating ideas as a child from my own mother. She was a HUGE holiday/seasonal decorator. We used to go out to a friend's farm that let my Mom cut down as many corn stalks as she wanted. Then we would get the Indian Corn and make bundles from those and wrap the corn stalks around the light poles next to the driveway and hang the Indian Corn on the stalks. She always had pumpkins sitting on hay bales near the front entrance to our home. Her decorating started outside and continued inside the home in all the main rooms. All the knick knacks were put away and replaced with little Fall things like ceramic pumpkins, ghosts, and pretty vases and candles. The towels in the entire house were switched out to all Fall colored towels. She even had special dishes for each season for our dinner table. I carried much of her ideas into my home when I got older and had my own children and changed things with each season change too. My body just won't let me do all those things before. In fact, this time of the year and going into Winter I normally get a little sad that I just can't do it all anymore. But, this year I think we're going to do something since we do have one of our grandchildren living here and since she's only 2 yrs old, all this holiday/seasonal stuff is all new and exciting to her. I really want to instill the importance of the seasons and holidays in her just as my Mom did for me.
Love the Barn Raising and all the variations.
ReplyDeleteI love to decorate with Pumpkins. All sizes and colors. I've seen two new ideas this year that I want to try: writing a pumpkin pie recipe on a pumpkin and doing zentagle on a white pumpkin. Guess I need to get busy.
I have an old galvanized watering can from my father that I love to put branches in and tiny orange lights on the porch, along with pumpkins from our garden! I love fall the best, along with sweaters and hand knit wool socks- I am also an avid knitter, Yes, and quilts on the chairs and sofa for those chilly nights!
ReplyDeleteWe moved this summer to a house in the woods. My favorite fall decorations this year are LEAVES--and lots of them. We are viewing our leaves as a positive and they are beautiful. Happy Fall to everyone!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy using homemade quilts to decorate. Your color fabrics are great for fall! I am a Primitive Style person so fall is my favorite time of year!☺️

ReplyDeleteI love to decorate for fall with SMALL QUILTS, Pumpkins, crows and scarecrows. KT fabrics are all warm and cozy like fall.
ReplyDeleteI love decorating with corn stalks, pumpkins, gourds and lots of colorful mums. Of course, there must be a fall colored quilt in the plan somewhere.
ReplyDeleteJust decorated my dining room table with the Autumn Harvest table topper quilt that I finally finished! Loving it!!!! It is hard to beat the beautiful fall leaves in decorating for fall.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get enough pumpkins last year so I planted mini boos and orange pumpkins this year. Can't go wrong since the chickens get to eat them at Thanksgiving when they start to get mushy. This year, I spray painted some of my white boo pumpkins with silver paint. Love! Great idea posted above by the person who mentioned doing Zentangle on a white pumpkin. Next year! Already have my seeds saved! Love your blog & all the ideas shared.
ReplyDeleteI love decorating for fall with mini pumpkins, fall inspired mini quilts, colorful leaves on the fireplace mantle and a huge bowl of candy corn!
ReplyDeleteThat is a really great looking quilt. I have a lot of small quilts , many with pumpkins that I scatter about.
ReplyDeleteI put out my pumpkins and fall leaves in October and they can stay out til I get the Christmas decorations up. Thanks
