More Cleaning ...

KT Giveaway

I'm still uncovering bags and bundles and boxes of scraps leftover from quilting projects over the past year or two. My baskets and bins are overflowing, so I'd like to share with you. Here are two more assortments of scraps for our giveaway this week.

Scraps #1 - Gooseberry Lane & assorted red/tan/black scraps
I think several of these prints were used for Christmas projects like the Gooseberry Runner, below, but some are Harvest Hill, too. Included are several different reds, tans and a couple blacks.

Assorted KT Scraps #2 (including some Fresh Cut Flowers)
Not sure where this bag of scraps came from. It has quite a few 2 1/2" strips from a couple different lines, plus a chunk of backing (gold dots). Great for scrappy projects.

I have bins for strips and squares, fat 1/8's and fat 1/4's by color and folded yardage on shelves. When I come to the end of chunk of fabric, I cut it into strips or squares to add to my bins. Lately, odd pieces and parts seem to be taking over every flat surface! Comment on how you keep scraps of all sizes from over-running your sewing space. I could use a few pointers.

  1. My scraps after quilts finished either go in box for future applique. The thinner strips for either binding and stems this can depend on colour. Otherwise cut into base use able sizes like Lori Holt does. Happy Stitching.

  2. If I ever discover a way that me scraps don't over take my sewing space I'll let you know;-)

  3. I have used KS Troubles fabrics for sampler quilts at Charlotte's Sew Natural for years. I have a Longaberger laundry basket I keep the larger scraps and fat quarters in. Around 2 years ago our guild had Bonnie Hunter as a speaker. Since then I have been cutting up scraps per her organization system. I still want to make the Blockheads blocks, so I have another tub I put scraps in for that project. And I am currently using my KS Troubles 2-inch Bonnie Hunter stash system fabrics for the Eleanor Burns 40th Anniversary Block Party, so I see another tub in my future for that project. The scraps are working out perfect for the log cabin blocks with a little trimming, filling in with assorted fat quarters. Then leftovers will go into my Bonnie Hunter scrap tubs.

  4. My scraps are definitely taking over, but I use them all the time because scrap quilts are my favorites. That being said, KT scraps are my favorites and I would love some more. Thanks. Some day I will figure out an organization system that works (hopefully).

  5. I wish I did have some pointers for you. I hope to learn a few from the comments you receive. I like the idea of keeping scraps for applique. All of your fabric lines coordinate, so you could easily mix the scraps. They would be useful for your layered method too. Thank you for the opportunity to win some!

  6. I use different totes, bags, and bins for scraps. I try to use scraps whenever possible to keep them down and try to remember what is where. I am always making quilts, runners and such to give away and try to use them up. Try sorting strips, squares, etc. and its becomes easier.

  7. I use the plastic drawer storage containers. It sort by color. This is really helpful for finding prices for appliqué or fining Leicester for scrappy quilts.

  8. I just hate waste. I also use the Bonnie Hunter system for my scraps. I sort by color into dollar store containers. When it's time for a project, I "shop" my containers first. And bits that are too tiny go to a group who uses them to stuff pillows for the homeless.

  9. I started cutting up scraps into the largest size squares that the fabric would accommodate and putting them in shoe boxes. Too many quilts to cut and sew and the rest of my collection of scraps are again unorganized in a large box just waiting for inspiration. The KT scraps have a special box of their own. They are lonely and would love to be friends with yours! Thank you.

  10. Early Good Morning to you! I try to cut my scraps into usable pieces (strips/squares/rectangles/tris), but still my bins overflow too! Cutting them in appropriate sizes/shapes is something I do whenever I get a minute & need some brainless activity. Still there are small pieces left! This past year & a half I have been giving my small pieces to a lady who makes dog/cat beds for the local animal shelter. She has made over 1500! I can't believe how much fabric used to go to the garbage & now can go to making these pet beds! I would encourage everyone to find someone who can use your throw-a-ways. What a way to recycle! It feels good too :)

  11. I would love to have your scraps. Doing a block of the month with your fabric. Love the blocks!

  12. I am at a total loss as how to organize my scraps. Don't know how you determinants what size to cut them into. Do you organize by color? I will be reading these comments for ideas.

  13. I've started a couple of string quilts to use my scraps. I've also made a couple of patchwork heart shirts using crazy quilting to use pink/red scraps. And I'm working on the Village quilt along that is all over the internet, making houses from scraps. I lOVE scrap quilting---it's the best kind!

  14. Since I just restarted sewing I don’t have an overflowing amount of scraps so i’m reading everyone’s suggestions. I use the plastic scrap book paper containers to keep the pieces I do have as they close & pieces can’t escape. The little skinny strips & trimmings become stuffing but some that are slightly thicker (1/4-1/2”) I use as tie strips in my veggie & flower gardens. Oh, in the spring I also put some short strips on the bushes for the birds to use in nest building. It’s fun finding the colors or seeing the prints while weeding or reaping.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I try to stay organized by placing same color fabrics in baskets on my bookshelves - but I not always good about keeping things neat when I go through the baskets looking for fabrics. It's a continuing battle - but a fun one. :)

  16. I have bins for 5 sizes of strips and squares, too. The scraps still seem to multiply around my ironing board and cutting table. I try to cut pieces as I finish with them, but I have one tray of "to be cut" pieces. They are usually smaller or odd sized. They have become a mountain! I tell my husband this might not be such a problem if I could stack my bins on shelves for easy access, rather than 5 high under my work stations, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I really don’t keep them from overflowing. But I keep them by sizes like 2:5” squares and strips, charms, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Mine definitely overflow! I just cut some 2" squares for a scrappy quilt and hardly made a dent in the bag with 2" strips left from other projects. Oh well.....

    ReplyDelete
  19. oh my what beautiful "scraps" i never consider them scraps but OPPORTUNITIES for my little quilt projects :) do you want to know my biggest problem...not enough walls to hang them on :) :) hope i win this one! janet jecagain@gmail.com

  20. I keep anything fat quarter or smaller in clear shoeboxes by color, and a separate bag of strings. Know there are a few recommendations out there of sizes to cut scraps into, but I haven't been brave enough to do that yet!
    basaran.family@rogers.com

    ReplyDelete
  21. I keep Them in different sizes apart in boxes.
When the box is full, I start sewing with a small project. A bagage, a tablerunner etc.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Scraps just seem to grow!! I cut 2 1/2 inch squares, and put them in a container. I also have tiny pieces sorted by color, larger pieces, but not fat quarters folded in another container, strips in another container, and the list goes on. Someday I will make something with them, but can't bear to part with anything.

    ReplyDelete
  23. My scrap system will have to wait for retirement when I have more time! In the meantime, I'll keep happily collecting them!

    ReplyDelete
  24. At the present, I don't have a good system for storing my scraps. But I love to use them!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have a few different drawers they go into according to size. I also have a rod in the closet (where I used to have my machine set up) that I place strips on by width. I'm always grabbing a strip off that rod for current project, so useful & visible.

    1. Am not good at organizing my scraps. I have a box that I throw my unused various sizes of scraps in. When the box gets to overflowing, the scraps are donated to the second hand store.

    2. Love the idea of having strips pressed and ready to go hanging on a rod. Hmmmmm, where can I hang a rod???

  26. I have the Rubbermaid containers that I have all my sorted by color, cut (into usable sizes) fabric. Makes it really nice to find fabric for applique projects or scrappy quilt. I have closet organizer pull out shelves that I have all my fat quarters and odd less than 1/2 yd pieces in sorted by color. I love all your scraps and it is sew generous of you to share them with all of us. Thanks for the giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I put my small scraps into a tub, with a lid, under my drafting table. They are out of sight, but handy if I need a piece for a project. When the tub is full, I give them to a friend and start all over again.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I just throw everything together. Unfortunately, I have to dig through from time to time find what I want or need. It would easier if I had a system.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I sort by color into fabric containers for chunks and by size into plastic drawers for strips and squares.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I try to cut my small scraps down into 2" or 2.5" squares or 2.5" strips. I have a few in-between size bricks. As of now they are all separated by size only. 'Someday' they may get sorted by color! 😉

    ReplyDelete
  31. Good morning! I don't sort my scraps yet, but I would like to put Bonnie Hunter's system into use. One day!!! Thanks for this chance.

    ReplyDelete
  32. My scraps go into one tub and every few months I go through it and sort and cut to usable sizes basis colour . These are placed into large ziploc bags and again stored in tubs. When I start a new project I find the applicable coloured and sized bag and am ready to go. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  33. I sort my scraps by size and color. It works pretty well but I do have more containers than I want. There more scraps I get, the more my containers grow.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have an old dresser I use to sort by color. Jmh

    ReplyDelete
  35. I keep my fabrics together by type (i.e. reproduction)and color. I keep them in bins. Not the best system -- I, too, am looking for new ideas. Thanks for the opportunity for some of your beautiful scraps!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I have smaller tubs of scraps that have been cut into squares and each size has their own tub. I also have my KT scraps in a tub by itself. I have a large tub for larger scraps and a smaller one to use for applique. And batik scraps has a tub of it's own. I keep them all stacked under my 6ft table in my sewing room so they are close to reach. I am always using a scrap here and there for something. Aren't scraps wonderful!

    ReplyDelete
  37. My habit is to cut leftovers from each quilt down into strips and/or squares in the sizes I use most frequently. When I have a particular scrap quilt in mind to make, I write down the dimensions of the pieces needed for that project and cut those from my leftovers.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I would love to help you houseclean. Just send those scraps my way. I love KT fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I have tried to sort the smallest of cut-offs into clear plastic bins, by color. Anything larger than a couple of inches gets folded into and put back on a shelf, also by color, with the larger pieces. Who know, I might need just a few pieces of one particular fabric for the next project.

    ReplyDelete
  40. My larger scraps (say, bigger than a fat quarter) are sorted into bins by color. Smaller are cut into strips and squares and put into marked bins as to size, i.e., 1-1/2" and up. I don't generally keep anything smaller than 1-1/2". Love your patterns and fabric!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am busy making table runners with Cake Mix Recipe cards. I absolutely love KT fabrics…I collect the newest lines every year. I am low of scraps so I would love to have a special treat from assorted KT Scraps especially Fresh Cut flowers. I cannot wait for it to be available this month.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I sort small scraps by color and keep them together in plastic bags. I put the bigger scraps in my stash cabinet with the larger pieces. I like to do fusible applique so I keep anything I can use for leaves, berries or other tiny pieces! I love your fabrics, thanks for a chance to win some!

    ReplyDelete
  43. My scraps go into bags sorted by color and then in a big box but I try to use them up in scrap quilts as soon as possible. Would love to use yours!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have large plastic jars with lids that I keep scraps in sorted by color. I don't often make scrappy projects but when I need to add a certain color to my current project I hit up the scrap bins for the perfect piece.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Scraps are stored in gallon zip lock bags by color. I have three shopping bags of these zip lock bags.
Extra patched pieces go in a bin, which I hope to use one day to make one crazy looking quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I throw most of my scraps into a big basket. When it starts to overflow, I sort them into bins by color. If I have a lot of scraps from a project, that are
from a specific line, or designer, I keep those in a bin of their own.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm doing good just trying to keep the unused fabric organized so I just throw smaller scraps into a bin and larger ones go into the smaller than a fat quarter drawer. Haven't been able to work on quilts much for several years so don't have many scraps but hope to get going again soon.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I sort my scraps mainly by color, each in it's own plastic bin. I used to do it by size but since I'm always looking for a scrap based on color, I changed the way I organize things. My Kansas Troubles scraps, however, are all together in a big bag since I use them frequently and know just where to find them.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Small scraps I sort and store together, 1",1 1/4", 1 1/2" etc. If I have quite a lot of fabric left from a project I keep it together in a plastic case for awhile to see if I want to do a small project. Then I steal from it for various things and do not have enough left when I want it :-)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I'm going to have to live vicariously through others comments on scrap storage! So far, I know where certain scraps are & at kinda sorted by type and/or color. Your fabric scraps always have their own bin along with the yardage of same!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I have leftovers from projects in large plastic aip lock bags. All things that are KT are kept in large tote bags. I have several and can just go to them when I need a little something. I love all things KT so would love one of these.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I use Bonnie Hunter's scrap saver system. But when I'm not looking they have a party and leave a huge mess!

    ReplyDelete
  53. my scraps that would be 2 1/2 squares or 2 1/2 x 4 go into a shoe box for an ongoing scrappy quilt I am making. Others go in other shoe boxes ans stack in a corner-getting to be a mile high. I wish I had more room to actually have shelves for bins and drawers for larger scraps or colorways.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I so love the darks! My system is throw it all in a pile. Maybe someday I will get it out and make some sense of it.

    ReplyDelete
  55. My scraps go in boxes by color. My husband built me a huge shelf to hold all the boxes which I covered with the color they hold.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I have tried cutting my scraps into different sized squares and keeping them separate in plastic bins but it takes up a lot of room and I have run out of space. I have tried by colour but I often gather material for a project and then the stash gets moved all over. Right now I only have part of my material out-the rest is in storage, so it has been easier to keep up with scraps but I find that the scraps have a distracting quality...I love scrap quilts...I love tiny lttle bits of fabric and often I have scraps but no real amount of one fabric to make a quilt. My golds and browns are partucularly depleted!LOL..Thank you for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Mostly I use Bonnie Hunter's system, except for my KT scraps which have their own special place. I am currently working on a scrap quilt using my KT fabrics so my drawer is getting depleted. What a great time to win some more KT fabrics. Through the years I have gone from one style to another, but I have never tired of the KT fabrics. Keep up the good work.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I cut some scraps in 2 1/2 inch squares and 5 inch squares. Other scraps I sort by colors in one of our old toy bins. There are 12 rectangular bins and they sit on a shelf. I can go to my closet and pick what color or size I need easily.

    ReplyDelete
  59. I cut my scraps in 2 1/2" , 5" squares or 2 1/2" strips. Each one in different basket!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I make my own homemade candy packs with 2 1/2" squares and homemade charm pack with 5" squares. I stack them together until I reach the magic number and then put them into clear baggies so that I can see the colors or fabric lines.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I try to keep my scraps together by fabric collection, and then I put them together in a see thru plastic bag and into a plastic bin they go! I use the the odd size pieces for applique, and the pieces that can be used in scrap quilts I use for that. I LOVE scraps! One Christmas I received a pkg from a friend for a KT tabletopper with KT fabrics. When I started to use it, I realized it was actually the leftovers and had already been made into a topper... I had accidentally received the scraps unintentionally. They had been folded so nice that my friend must have thought it was a new kit. I couldn;t make the topper, but those scraps have been of great use in several other projects! :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. I sort them by color or collection and usually cut them into mini charm size for use in scrappy quilts!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Love the Gooseberry fabric! Would love the scraps to go with the layer cake I bought. Just awaiting the perfect project but never have enough when I need it! Just getting back to quilting after almost 30 year work break - so haven't got too many scraps yet - but did buy the comic book boards to start organizing!! Love your fabrics!

  64. I cut my scraps into useable sizes and store by size in ziploc bags. Two problems: 1) I hate to stop all my “fun” quilting to trim leftover fabric, and 2) I’m getting to the point where ziploc bags are just not big enough anymore!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I try very hard to cut up scraps as i make them. I cut them into 1.5”, 2”, 2.5”, 3.5”, and 5” sqs. Strips i keep it more than 12” long. Anything larger gies back to the stash. I also have a couple of scrap quilts i am skyways working on. I keep a list of what i need and add. I sooo want to win!!! I am drooling over this fabric. Thanks for the chance!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I just keep whatever is left. If it's leftovers from a bundle, I keep them together.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I am a scrap hoarder! Small stuff goes in a basket under the ironing board and larder pieces are sorted in a color coded plastic storage unit!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I keep smaller width strip scraps in a tub for future strip quilting. Sometimes when all is well, my scraps from a project are cut in usable sizes but also sorted by fabric theme ~ civil war, kid, general. Your scraps would be fun to play with!

    ReplyDelete
  69. My scraps are sorted by sizes in Ziploc bags. Thanks for the giveaway....One persons scraps is another person's treasure.

  70. I love to make little quilts and these both are wonderful.Love all the colors and designs. Thanks for the chance to get an assortment to play with. Can never have enough options when planning a little quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I have been labeling plastic bags with different width pieces. Recently I purchased a plastic container that has different sized bins in the container. Awesome for holding different size cuts. I also have one big tub that holds only Kansas Troubles fabrics.

  72. Cathy Barnes
I keep my scraps in scrapbook containers stacked in three sizes, small, medium and large. I love doing scrappy quilts and will pull from these if needed. I am working on scrappy blocks now for a king size quilt of nothing but different lines of KT fabrics that I have been collecting for quite awhile. Your lines of fabric always work together, love that.
    Thank you. cnb6269@yahoo.com

  73. all of my Kansas Troubles scraps go in a separate container for a EPP quilt I am saving up for, but the rest get cut into certain sizes and I have an antique cabinet with 4 bins that hold all of my scraps of different sizes. Makes it easy for me when I am making little quilts!

  74. I sort my scraps by color in colored plastic bins. When I need a piece of red I know they are in the red colored bin 😊. I have recently started a scrap quilt with tiny 1” pieces and the blocks finish 2” and have another scrap quilt in mind with 4” finished blocks. As I cut fabric for a project I go ahead and cut for the tiny quilts and put the pieces in a bin for that project starting with the larger 4” pieces working my way down to the 1” pieces. Seems to be working great. Two birds one stone !! Love to win your scrap bag 😊

  75. Hello! My scrap basket was overflowing! So I took an old copper boiler I had and cleaned it up and put all the scraps in that! It matches our décor, is fun to dig through and since I make all quilts in the same color family (like KT colors), I don't have to worry about sifting through when I need scraps for a quilt! Thanks for the give away!

  77. Thank you for the give away. If/when you figure out how to deal with scraps, please let us know. I'm sure we all have the same problem. I know I do.

  78. My scraps get tossed into a bag for making string blocks. When one bag gets filled I get another started. I also have a couple of drawers filled with small pieces for applique.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I have clear large Costco pretzel containers sitting beside where I sew so I can save the usable scraps. The ones too small go into another one for dog beds. I love to look at the color scramble through the clear plastic.

  80. I put my scraps in a clear plastic bin. I wish I could say I cut them down but I do not.

  81. I make scrappy quilts often. I have made two so far this year. I try not to let scraps build up.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I keep all my small scraps in a basket and larger ones I keep with the collection. I am starting to cut some of them up into different size squares to use in scrappy mini quilts. Sadly, I don't have a lot of scraps right now so I don't need to worry too much about organizing them. There are some great ideas in these comments!

  83. I wish I did have a good plan for keeping my scraps tamed, but alas they are like wild animals--all over the place!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I'm definitely not the one who should give tips on managing scraps, but my method is keeping the smaller sizes, 1.5", 2", 2.5" and so one in rectangular clear plastic boxes with attached lids that I have. I write the size on a paper and put on top of the pile. I have multiple sizes in one of three boxes. The papers stay in place because of the lids. Larger scraps, like almost fat quarter size, go in the box with fat stray FQ's. It works for me. Of course, there's also the big bag of scraps I haven't sorted yet, but that's between you and me.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I wish I could figure out a way to store my scraps. I'm afraid to cut them all up. I keep thinking that I might want to have some larger pieces too. But, I would love to own some of your scraps.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I have strips in zip loc bags sorted by width size and stored in a bin. I also do this with 1/2 square triangles, flying geese, etc. bagged by size

    ReplyDelete
  87. I keep anything fat quarter size and bigger on shelves sorted by color and then smaller pieces go into the shoe size plastic bins again by color. However I keep some fabrics together by designer like my KTQ fabrics!

    ReplyDelete
  88. I love scraps and working with them. I "organize" the ones waiting in the wings to be used up by putting them in the "pockets" of one of those over the back of the door shoe hangers. The clear plastic pockets let me sort by color ... you would be amazed at how much one pocket can hold, too! When I see a pocket getting TOO full then I know it's time to make something using that colorway. It's worked for me for years and is easy to implement and control! Thanks for the opportunity to "fill more pockets" !!! Linda Canends@Hotmail.com

  89. I love the challenge of working with scraps but organizing them is a challenge too. I sort according to color-strips, chunks or sqares all in the same bin.

  90. I try to sort my scraps by color and store them together in bags or tubs depending on the amount. I also cut some into strips and squares to use for future scrap quilts.

  96. I sort my scraps by color into dollar store bins. Then I have another bucket for smaller scraps that are just throw into it-these are my crumbs.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Actually, I sort my scrap into certain sizes using Bonnie Hunter's scrap system. I sort them into plastic covered boxes of various sizes. So far, the most often used size is 2 1/2" squares! Works pretty good. I even have a small-ish container for various width/lengthy of strips to maybe use (someday) to make a strip-pieced quilt using the old phone book pages as the foundation (another Bonnie Hunter idea.)

    ReplyDelete
  98. How to sort and save scraps is my problem too. Most of mine are by color. Love your fabrics and would love a scrap bag of them.

    ReplyDelete
  99. I use plastic shoe boxes to store my strip scraps by size. I have other boxes for my scrap squares.

  100. I have plastic tubs to keep scraps by color. Of course, I keep all my Kansas Troubles scraps in s separate tub.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I sort usually sort scraps by color. The bins I have are over flowing and some day I will cut everything into specific size pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I LOVE scraps! I cut the ones into sizes that are used often, and the little scraps, I put into a plastic tote to use in making Crumb quilts. I also love KT Fabrics!! midwayfarms@hughes.net

  103. I love the scrappy look. I keep my scraps divided up in quart and gallon size zip loc bags. I also keep the leftover half triangle squares in a separate box.

  104. I am pretty organized as I have sizes I use. I don’t keep odd sizes....I trim or sew several pieces together to make a block. I have 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5 strips all lengths but different widths. I do sizes not colors unless I have a couple of projects with same color range...I like to be able to put my fingers on specific pieces....do nit ask how often this system gets a bit whacky... :0)P. 106. I don't cut mine up as I like to make some things that are bigger than if they were cut in standard sizes. I do keep small scraps in a big bin. Thank you for the chance . Lovely scraps.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I try and keep my scraps in containers, at the moment I am using scraps to make hexie's, which I hope will become a quilt ...but its slow going hand sewing them all.... have to say though it does give me a sense of achievement, doing it all by hand. Thanks for the chance.

  108. I keep my various half square triangles, sorted by size, in clear shoe boxes that take up two shelves in a bookcase. My strips go in a bin that I try to use daily for strip blocks and also use them for beginning and ending sewing. That way I'm always doing two projects at once. My larger squares are used in four patches and sorted like the half square triangles and also for start and end sewing if I run out of strips.

  109. I keep my scraps together with the same fabric. I never know when I pull a piece of yardage & then there is a small piece I can use and cut into my yardage.

  110. I keep my scraps in plastic lidded containers with similar colors

  111. I have storage boxes for strips and small pieces. My Kansas Troubles scraps are in a baggie along on top of the fat quarter pieces which are beside the yardage. The charm packs fill a dresser drawer. That way I know where to find all my Kansas Troubles fabrics. :)

  112. I try to cut them into manageable sizes and store them in bins by color.

  113. Once the scraps become less than 5 inches or odd shapes I cut them into strips of 3 different sizes or blocks of 4 sizes. I keep them organized in a small plastic 3 drawer box. That way when I want to do a log cabin or scrap quilt I have lots of scraps ready to go!

  114. My scraps are just put into a big storage container and
cut into different sizes as needed
The good part about not organizing is that I just pull them out without looking so I have a truly scrap quilt

  115. I don't cut my scraps into strips or squares. If the scrap is small, say 6" long or smaller, it goes into one container. If it is 6" long or larger, it goes into another container. If it is 1/4 yd or larger, it goes into another container, if it is 1/2 yard or larger, it is folded and then sorter by color and stacked. That's how I do it.

  117. Scrap storage is by color - only cut them as I need them
as not being sure what I would use them for found when
I cut squares in different sizes they would just sit and not get used so for me better to just store them
by color in plastic shoe boxes and try to go there first when starting a new project that can use smaller sizes... there's my 2 cents worth...

  119. I cut mine in strips of various sizes and store them in baggies inside project boxes. Easy to pull the size I need for scrap quilts.
