Scrapbook Garden Charming Thursday

A wonderful Thursday to you all! Today we're looking back to 2004 when I decided to start scrapbooking for the grandkids. That lasted about 3 months.  Then I realized I had no time or inclination to do anything but buy all the cool scrapbooking stuff out there.  So I decided to buy their Moms all the stuff they needed to scrapbook themselves. It stuck for 2 of them. My own daughter, of course, has all her photos on her computer and phone and in boxes. I tried.

Our book, Scrapbook Garden, was fun to put together because I used neat metal photo corners on the pictures and made the cover with a pocket on the inside to stash notes and fabric swatches. Cost an arm and a leg to do it. Now I can move on. Here are a couple of my favorite projects from the book.

Leave a comment about your scrapbooking adventures - or not - and you'll be signed up to win a Scrapbook Garden charm pack & book. Check our website under KT Specials and you can purchase the book for only $4 - what a deal!

The kids and grankids are home this weekend for pretend Easter (as Aleece is calling it), so I'll see you all Monday morning with the winner.
Lynne

  1. It's scrapbooking - NOT here. I don't have the time or energy to scrapbook as well as all the time I spend quilting and shopping for quilting items. I only have one grandchild who is 8 months old, so you'd think it would be the perfect time, but just can't make myself do it.

  2. So sorry to say I don't scrapbook. My time, obsession, love is quilting and sewing and I do LOVE it. Wonderful giveaway - would love to win!

  4. I have never done scrapbooking, and I spend all my spare time quilting. Thanks for the giveaway.

  5. I'm not a scrapbooker. I'm strictly a quilter and love it! Thanks so much for your Thursday giveaways.

  6. I have seen what friends have done with their scrapbooking "stuff", but have not done scrapbooking myself. I have so many other projects going that I don't need to spend more money on things that would probably sit around my house. Thanks for the chance to win some of your beautiful fabric.

  7. I'm trying but WAY behind with the scrapbook idea for the granddaughters. Maybe some charms will get me going again. Bottom line is I like to quilt!

  9. Thank You for telling your scrapbook story.(or lack of scrapbooking) I too have all the stuff to scrapbook for my first grandchild. She is not 5-1/2 and it still sits in the closet untouched. Too much to do, too little time. Maybe my only scrapbooking will be the Scrapbook Garden fabric????

  10. I dont scrapbook either as I have too many quilts to make and not enough time to make them. I have seen some scrapbooks and I think they are awesome the way you can do things with them.

  11. I tried scrapbooking once and realized really quickly that it wasn't for me :)

  12. Have only scraped book by computer, the grandkids look through them all the time, especially our disney trip,15 of us and we all had a blast.

  13. I bought all the stuff to scrapbook but never got around to it. Quilting just takes up too much of my spare time. So I gave it all to my daughter. I think digital scrapbooking is more my thing. I want to keep the memories but would prefer not to have boxes of paper lying around the house.

  14. My scrapbooking consists mostly of making cards for others. I do have about 3 or 4 scrapbooked albums...but right now I'm loving fabric, sewing, and quilting...my craft topics go in spurts, but I think the quiltng one is going to last a long while!

  15. Nope...no scrapbooking for me. I already have too many projects!

  16. I tried (briefly) to scrapbook. Not for me! I got as far as putting all my pictures in boxes for each calendar year. There they sit. Boy, do I need a scrapbook fairy!

  17. I am your scrapbook sister! I also have a closet full of stuff...which I am giving to my cousin this weekend! yeah...more closet space for fabric!

  18. I don't scrapbook. I don't even like to take pictures! But your fabric line is lovely. Love your giveaways.

  19. I guess I'm like you - the most fun was buying the supplies. And then it sat.

  20. That is one thing I haven't done. It looks fun but now with digital, I store all my photos on the computer, lol. I love the flower runner, would be a nice piece for spring.

  22. I haven't found the time to make scrapbooks and I'm new to quilting. It's more fun.

  23. I am always grateful to find time to quilt! There are so many wonderful patterns and beautiful fabric...sigh! Someday I may scrapbook.....someday...

  24. I used to spend loads of time, and money, scrapbooking. I was one of the last people I know to get a digital camera because I wanted to have the photos to put in my lovely scrapbooks. The last book I did was when my husband retired after 20+ years in the Navy. Now, I am very happy to spend my time and money quilting. The photos I take are safe on my computer and back up drive. I still admire scrapbooks, but I really love quilting better.

  25. I'm just like you Lynne - I love buying all the supplies needed for scrapbooking, but rarely have the desire to DO anything with them! I've tried to make a few altered art pieces using paper ephemera, but that's about it. So sad! I think it's because paper doesn't have the texture that textiles do - that's what hooks me in everytime!

  26. I've never tried scrapbooking...don't know that I would have talent for that.

    ReplyDelete
  27. don't scrapbook and rarely take people photos - quilt block photos I do take - which is why I would enjoy making a quilt that incorporates your scrapbook garden charms
have a great weekend with the kids

  28. I have never done scrap booking. I would rather quilt and spend my money on KT fabric.

  29. I was saying "I don't need another hobby!" when I started quilting. So far, no regrets...........so, no, really, I don't need another hobby......I WILL NOT scrapbook!!! Quilt a scrapbook???....well, sure!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I do not scrapbook either. I have some friends that do, and it looks to me that it is as big a project as quilting is.....and I would rather quilt.

  31. I have avoided the scrapbook craze. I looks great, but I do not need one more hobby. I love to quilt, hand stitch and paint. As it is now, it is hard to get outside for the yard work that needs to be done. How did this grass get so long already?? Thanks again for the change to win. I love the table runner.

  32. I'm an archivist and believe me, all adhesives dry out. That means everything in the scrapbook will fall out and become a conservation nightmare.

  33. As much as I'd love to scrapbook ... with my obsession of quilting tools, notions, fabrics, books, patterns, etc., there is absolutely no way I could afford to attempt to dip my toes into scrapbooking. I'd have to take out a second and third mortgage :) lol Thank you so much for this chance and hope you enjoy your pretend Easter!

  34. Quilting takes all my time and money. My DIL does beautiful scrapbooking. I'll just admire hers.

  35. I had a break from quilting a few years ago and managed to get 6 scrapbook albums made, with eight grandchildren you can imagine that didn't make much of a hole in the photographs! I love the ones I did but it's not something I would go back to quickly, I just don't have time for both and quilting is my first love...

  36. I'm not a Scrap Booker. I'd much rather be working on all of my quilt projects.

  37. I NEVER started scrapbooking (though I really like them) because I knew that would REALLY be spreading myself too thin (already with quilting & a little crochet and cross-stitch on the side). Thanks for the giveaway.

  38. No scrapbooking around here. Fabric has always been my love.

  39. I actually have a quilt journal that I scrap book, I take photos of my quilts, then put them on the scrapbooking paper, add a few stickers and 3D flowers,, add a few fabrics that were in the quilt then write about that project. Its good fun and a great way to keep a record of my quilts that I make.

  40. I have friends who scrapbook and have home parties to sell scrap booking supplies. I resisted as long as I could, but then decided it might be fun to make greeting cards. I bought all sorts of supplies and made a few. Very few. I have decided that it's much easier to buy greeting cards.

  41. I have a lot of stamping stuff, but since I've really gotten into quilting, I really don't use it. Maybe I should sell it on ebay!!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I enjoy scrapbooking (after a fashion), but I hardly ever do it, these days. Part of the problem is that it's a messy process, since I pull out so much "stuff" while I'm designing a page. It's still fun, though!

Thanks for another chance to win some of your lovely fabric!

  43. NOT HERE EITHER. Gave all of my stuff to my daughter 11 years ago and she does a beautiful job of scrapbooking. Quilting, knitting, beading, cross stitching, needlepoint and reading are what I do

  45. I never really got into scrapbooking. Cutting up papaer to stick onto paper with photos etc.....I prefer to spend my time cutting up fabric & then sew it all back togeather; at least I get a quilt. Scrapping wouldn't keep you warm ;- )

  46. I don't scrapbook. I admire the creativity of other who do but it is not for me. My passion is quilting, crocheting, and other needle handwork.

  47. I admire anyone that has the time and patience to put together all the things for scrapbooking. My friends have tried to get me into this craft but so far this is one hobby that is still on my bucket list. Thank you for the chance to win.

  48. I do not do scrapbooking. Love to admire other's works though. Making a small quilt with your Scrapbook Charms is the closest I will ever get; and I am certain there isn't a Kansas Troubles fabric that I don't like. Thank you for the giveaway!

  49. I don't scrapbook, I love the feel of fabric more than paper. I think your fabric choices and pattern choices are beautiful. They're so warm I love the way they look. Thank you for the generous giveaway. ;>

  50. Maybe there is something about quilters and scrapbooking??? I'm like you brought the stuff but never stuck with it. :))

  51. Scrapbooking is not my thing. One, maybe two pictures per page just seems like it's more about the froo froo and not the pictures. I don't mind making cards, but I prefer to play with fabric.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Scrap booking not my bag....would take too much time away from quilting.....lol..janet

  53. Haven't tried to scrapbook, more interested in quilting. Would love to win some charms.

  56. I haven't let myself become a scrapbooker. I have so many unfinished sewing projects.

  57. I have done some scrapbooking, did fine until my son graduated from high school, had all his things ready for the party, however that was in 1998 and I haven't done much but quilt since then. Oh well!

  58. Although I love the scrapbooking my daughter-in-law has done, I feel it is best if one knows one's limits and sticks to them =) I know that scrapbooking is something outside my artistic abilities. I DO love to quilt and would rather spend my time working with fabric. Love your KTQ lines.....every one of them!

  59. I have the supplies to scrapbook and I like to do it. My Problem is that once I drag everything out I have to pack it all n up in haw hours. I need an area like my sewing room set up just for scrap booking.

I've been using Shutterfly for scrapbooking. I can get my projects done vey quickly and only need my computer and my pictures they are worth checking out. Of course they are not as beautiful as the think, but it is a great alternative

  60. I enjoy scrapbooking in my own way. I admire those who love to do beautiful and creative pages but for me it is the pictures and stories of Family History's that truely warms my heart.

  61. I love to scrapbook, as well as quilt. Tho there seems to be little time to do either at the moment. I am compiling a scrapbook for a coworker who is retiring at the end of this week. I've asked all her friends to send me a picture as well as a letter to her, in which these will be compiled into a memory scrapbook for her. One of my quilt projects is a "quilters diary" in which each block will be a "scrapbook" of sorts of events in my life. Its been fun to hunt for fabrics for that.
