KT Countdown to Christmas Day #2

Carol and LKDrum are our winners of Day #1 Primitive Quilts magazine. Please send your mailing addresses and I'll get Robert right on it. I warned him about the daily giveaways in our countdown and his response was, "Well of course you're giving away stuff right now since there's nothing else going on..." Aren't husbands so understanding? My 10-year-old grandson Cooper's reply to Grampa now is "Can you spell sarcasm?" Gotta love it!

Okay, for Day #2 in our Countdown to Christmas, more magazines - 3 of the newest Quiltmaker 100 Blocks! Three lucky quilters will each win a magazine if they comment by 10pm tonight. Here's a look at my block with Sandhill Plums and Cattails fabrics. It's so much fun to transform a traditional block with a gazillion pieces into a simply doable raw edge applique version. My daughter, Nicole, turned 30 this year and selected this block (30 of them) in a really scrappy quilt as her birthday gift. I just hope I can finish it before she turns 31!

Do you buy this magazine for the eye candy & inspiration or actually make some of the blocks? Watch later during the Countdown for a set of Issues #2,3,and 4!

  1. That's a great block! It'll make a fantastic quilt.
I have two volumes of that magazine and so far it's been inspiration. I do want to make some of the blocks, but seems other projects that NEED to get done take precidence.

  3. Absolutely lovely block! I usually need any book or magazine for eye candy and inspiration, but then often end up making some. I do need the 100 Blocks magazine now to find something to make with a huge stack of fabric that I've been hoarding.

    Christmas blessings to you.........

  37. I love your block for the magazine. I haven't bought any of the 100 block series. The one quilt I have made designing the sample blocks we made in class, ended up badly. I have named the finished quilt "22 stitches"'. Some how I thought a scar on my left index finger would be a great conversation starter. Luckily the shop owner is cool headed as I don't remember anything after looking down and saying "I cut my finger". I've been told that as we were waiting for my daughter to take me to the emergency room, I tried to buy some fabric and some notions. The next thing I remember is getting the shot to numb my finger. That's the only pain I felt Until several hours later.

  38. Neat block and fabric choice. I guess it is just because I finished breakfast but the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the block was a fried egg sandwich.
Well, I thought kind of odd but it works for a Christmas breakfast.
I would love to win, thanks to you and your husband for the giveaway opportunity and the Christmas quilt block posts. I just found it today, I'll have to go back to look for the first post.
