I realized last night as I was working on the pattern for Collection of Scraps that this might the perfect quilt for the stack of charm squares. There are only a couple of strips (that can be pieced) that are too long to cut from a 5" square. You can just about get one block from a pack of charm squares.
I better get cookin'! The kids/grankids/parents will be here this afternoon expecting to eat our version of Thanksgiving leftovers. I make a massive turkey hash with all the fixin's; Mom makes the pies (with her perfect flaky homemade crust) and my oldest son, Neil, always comes up with some fun new dessert to try. This year, pumpkin/gingersnap/cheesecake parfaits. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Have a good weekend enjoying leftover turkey.
Please comment for the giveaway on Thursdays post. Thanks.
Here's a closer look at several blocks so you can see that we made each one just a bit
differently depending on the fabric available. Very fun!

Great pattern...I love charm squares!
ReplyDeleteI probably would keep all the charms waiting for the perfect project. This might be the one.
ReplyDeleteOh! That's a lovely quilt! You're right - that would be the perfect pattern for those yummy squares!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting this pattern! I have some charm packs that I wanted to make a unique quilt with and was looking for a pattern that would use up the majority of the fabric (HATE to waste any of it-- it's so pretty!)-- but didn't want to just sew them together-- was thinking something like a Log Cabin type pattern would look wonderful with those colors--- and this pattern is PERFECT~~~~~!!!! Thank you so much! Enjoy your late Thanksgiving -- we're doing the same today! Except, we're having lasagna instead of leftovers! :-)
ReplyDeleteI have been using up a lot of my Kansas Troubles on my current project. Soooo, I would love to have some more!

ReplyDeleteExcept for turkey that went in my sister's freezer and half of a pie (also with homemade flaky crust), all the leftovers are gone, gone, gone. At first glance I didn't realize all the blocks were the same, just fabrics switched around.

Remember that you have my email :) due to the fact I can't figure out how to post.
Last minute family cancellations sent us out to eat on T-day & while in restaurant, car broken into!! Bummer, huh? Also, no leftovers to drown our sorrows. :-( So...can't do much about the thieves but just popped a turkey breast in the oven. At least we'll have those turkey sandwiches!!

This would be such a gift if I won. I have always been a fan of your fabrics and patterns, and have a lot of both in my collection, some made into quilts and some waiting to be used in just the right project. I could add those to the 1300 and create something outstanding.
