Just one more week to comment and be entered to win over 1300 KT charm squares. It's been fun to read what everyone would do with this stack of fabrics - lots of drooling and fondling going on for sure. And many generous quilters willing to make quilts to donate to good causes.
We're in the process of revamping out website so I've taking pics of stuff at the KT studio. I enjoy collecting anything having to do with sewing, especially acorn shaped items. Here's a look at some of my favorite junk.
Many of my acorns have a thimble and needle holder inside and are carved from vegetable ivory. Some are wooden, a couple have a pincushion, as well. The paper acorn on the left front is an Acorn Stove advertising piece; the card in back holds Acorn snaps. Too fun!
Clamps to hold a quilt in the frame were shaped like birds for fun and function.
The beaks open like a clothespin and some have a bonus pincushion.

An old printer's tray (about 5 feet long) keeps vintage sewing items neatly displayed - advertising thimbles, tape measures, needle cases and thimble holders. It's fun to hunt for things with local advertising as I travel.
Now if someone would just dust it for me!
Moda's Designer Blog Hop begins Monday, Dec. 5th and continues throughout the week with almost 2 dozen designers sharing a block and a recipe for you to download free! I'm sure there will be more a couple giveaways, too. I'll post a list of designers to watch for over the weekend.
Keep commenting!
The bird clamps are so cool. I haven't seen anything like them but will be on the lookout now.
ReplyDeleteYou have some way cool stuff. I love the birds on the clamps. Keep me in mind for the drawing. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great acorn collection. I'm with you on the dusting issue though!
ReplyDeleteI like your sewing collections. The printers tray is an excellent display case. If you hold off on dusting long enough you can pretend it's snow! Thanks for the chance at your marvelous drawing.
ReplyDeleteYour printer's tray is like a history lesson in progress...how awesome!
ReplyDeleteI never heard of vegetable ivory, so I googled it and now I've learned my one new thing for today. I love your acorn collection.

ReplyDeleteLove your collections, especially the acorns, so unique. I love to "antique" and "thrift" as well. It is so much fun when I find something truly interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love all the unique things that we all collect but you are right about the dusting. Let someone else do it!
ReplyDeleteI would drool over that many charm squares. Sherry (keithriggs@windstream.net)
ReplyDeletedreaming of all those charm squares! thanks for sharing your collection.
ReplyDeleteLove those acorns. Bet they give you much inspiration. Renee
ReplyDeleteThose acorns are great. Love that kind of stuff but yes, the dusting can be an issue! LOL ~ I would be more than happy to do it for you, just so I can see it up close and personal!
ReplyDeleteYou know if someone could invent a spray that completely repels dust-- so that we'd never have to dust our nick-nacks again-- he or she could retire and live the life of luxury, couldn't they!? :-) I'm *really* looking forward to the Blog Hop! Always tons of great ideas and fun!! I'm counting down the days to see which lucky quilter wins your amazing prize! (and still keeping my fingers crossed that I am that lucky quilter! ;-) Thanks a bunch!
ReplyDeleteYour antiques are amazing. I've never seen the acorns or clamps before. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLove the Acorn's they are all so very cute! You have some cute stuff. Got a big laugh about the dusting! I would much rather sew than dust too! Have a wonderful day!

ReplyDeleteWill certainly keep my eyes open for great things like your birds!
Enjoy seeing your collections, I don't think I've never seen even ONE acorn pincushion ! The bird clamps are SO cool. Did you find most of these in Kansas and the Midwest, or on your travels ??
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win the charms, and looking forward to the Moda Hop !
Well, don't they say you have to play the game to win? So I'm going to try to get to the blog every day until 12/7 to increase my odds at winning that incredible "gift" you're offering. No matter what, it was fun playing and I now have the habit of checking Kansas Troubles on a regular basis to see what's new and what kind of trouble I can get myself into ;-) Renee
ReplyDelete10 years of fabric collections! Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteStart saving those future charm packs for the next contest 10 years from now, I'll still be buying KT fabric!
Posting another comment for today's entry... :-) Still crossing my fingers and gonna start crossing my toes too! Only problem is, my shoes won't fit--- guess I'll just have to double up on my socks!;-) It's been cold here lately-- and every night, I've been all nestled, all snug in my bed while visions of Kansas Troubles Charms dance in my head! :-)
ReplyDeleteA cold, windy winter storm day. I could sure use some fabulous charm squares to play with!
ReplyDeleteConny from Red Deer, Alberta

Hi Lynne,
ReplyDeleteI was "riding" home the other day looking at the foliage near the road. It reminded me of some of your fabrics. Maybe the reason I love them so....they remind me of home.
Happy Friday.
Leslie Nickels
Hi Lynne,
ReplyDeleteI love your fabrics. They have such a warm, homey feel to them. What a treat for someone to win all those charm squares. Every time I visit your blog, I am inspired.

ReplyDeleteSaturday Morning... boy we had a heavy frost last night. Everything is covered this morning....But at least the sun is out! That is always a good thing here in cloudy NE Ohio! Worked on some of the applique on the 10 years and counting BOM last night. I also worked on quilting a baby quilt while watching some TV. Gotta get the baby quilt done, the little one will be here before I know it. It is for the young lady that owns the store where I get my pups food from. Have a great day. Still ponding what to do with all that wonderful fabric!
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting,

I would love to win 1300+ KTQ charm squares. I was not yet quilting 11 years ago, and so do not have any of the first several lines. It would be great to continue on collecting, knowing I had at least a small piece of every fabric. At some point I would include them all in a very scrappy quilt.
ReplyDeleteSure would be fun to be at a retreat at your place and see all your great things. The charm squares would be put to good use at this house.
ReplyDeleteNadine Griffin
Lynne,
ReplyDeleteToday in Kansas was a great day to quilt. Rain, rain, all day.

Just an idea to help you with dusting. Anyway you look at it everyone has some kind of "junk" that means something to them. These items at one time happen to sew very usefull to someone. Take care and thank you for sharing. D at dihauck@ndsupernet.com
ReplyDeleteIt's way past bedtime, but I just had to post a comment tonight before I forgot and before the grandbabies come to spend the day tomorrow. We'll be baking thumbprint cookies with strawberry jam. It's going to be an interesting event since they are 3 1/2 and 15 months old.
ReplyDeleteGood Sunday Morning... all is quiet in the house... time to answer e-mail's and add my comment to your wonderful blog! Did not get any sewing in yesterday... going through withdraw already!
